Chapter 16

Recovery and escape

Twilight woke up after what seemed like forever to her, “wh-wha?” she panted looking around. Celestia was the first to notice her awakening,

“Twilight” she called, “thank goodness you’re alright, everypony she’s awake”. Everypony in the room rushed over,

“oh Twilight, we were so worried” Pinkie exclaimed happily while hugging her.

“Uh, Pinkie” Twilight croaked, “choking”,

“oops, sorry” Pinkie apologised. “The point is” Rarity commented,

“you did it Twilight” Rainbow Dash finished.

“Huh?” Twilight asked, “What did I do?”

“I’ll tell you what you did” a voice said from behind Twilight, she turned to see Saber standing there in his original form, “you saved me” he finished.

“As you can see” Celestia pointed out, “Nightmare Blade is no more”. Twilight smiled, she took the risk of letting her magic go out of control and it paid off.

They started walking to leave the castle; it all seemed more peaceful with the fall of the nightmares. “I never thought that we would ever be able to stop the nightmares” Twilight commented,

“I just can’t believe you managed to eliminate Nightmare blade” Saber pointed out.

“Would you look at that” Celestia sighed happily, “They’re laughing together like old friends”,

“I guess it is kind of nice” Discord remarked, “even if it is a little sappy”. After a bit they all reached the gate, it was finally time to leave.

“I can’t wait to get back to ponyville” Twilight exclaimed, “what about you Saber?....... Saber?” she looked back to see Saber with a worried look on his face.

“I would’ve thought that the dark clouds would have cleared out by now” he pointed out. Everypony looked up, the clouts had not cleared up and one particular spot was glowing bright blue. “Twilight” Saber called,

“yeah Saber?” she replied, “I’ll need you with me on this one” Saber turned to everypony else, “you all hurry back to ponyville and wait for us”.

“Oh no” Rainbow Dash demanded, “we’ve come this far together and we’ll stick together to the end”.

“Look, I would love it if you could help, I really would” Saber sighed, “but the one who’s coming is somepony me and Twilight have a score to settle with and I wouldn’t want you all to be at risk”.

“Alright” Rainbow griped before flying off,

“Make it back it one piece” encouraged Celestia. Saber nodded as everypony aside from him and Twilight went back to ponyville, “well, here goes nothing.” Saber commented. They looked up at the clouds as somepony descended from them, it was somepony Twilight hoped she would never see again. It was covered in runes and a flaming blue magical aura. It was the stone alicorn, and this was the fight that would decide equestrias fate.
