Butterfly

Load Full StoryNext ChapterBorn with a weak heart, you know your final day is coming and soon. The pains have increased lately and though you’ve been to the hospital several times, you push on. Dying slowly and painfully, you wanted to do one last thing before you leave this world. You wanted to experience love. Not just you being in love, but to beloved by someone else. You just wanted to experience it...at least once. Male or female. You had no time to be picky nor did you really care.
Morning came and you head out to look for it. There was plenty of ponies to choose from, but you couldn't sense the feeling, but what were you looking for? You've never felt what love is. You know that you’re feeling desperate to be loved, but you want to know what it's truly like to love. You wanted it to be real.
A pink pony came to your side and asked in a loud tone, "You feeling okay!?"
You took some time to observe her before speaking. She was cheerful and from the looks of her crazy hair style and cutie mark, you could tell it was Pinkie Pie. She is well-known and is having parties celebrating even the most random of stuff. She’s even one of the Elements of Harmony known for Laughter. Sadly, she isn’t the one. No feeling. You replied, "Not good." in a soft and quiet tone. Sounded kind of depressed too.
"You know what makes me happy!?" She asks in an attempt to cheer you up. You know what she is going to say, but you decided to play along.
"No. What?"
"Parties!"
"Really?"
"Don't believe me!? Why don't you come over to Sugarcube Corner!? It'll be a blast and it is sure to turn that frown upside down!"
"What makes you so sure?"
"I'm sure it will and how do you know if you don't give it a try!? Here's an invitation! See you tonight!"
Before you have a chance to speak, she ran off. You take a look at the invitation given to you and notice all of the wild designs and all the pink. You tell yourself, "At least give it a try."
At night, you head to Sugarcube Corner after no luck of finding love. You had some second thoughts about going, but a blue butterfly came from behind you and fluttered around you. It seemed to have a slight glow to it and it was very beautiful. After it fluttered around you a bit, it landed on your nose. It stared at you for about five seconds and flew off down the path to the party. It was like it wanted you to follow it. You began to run after it and as soon as you made it inside Sugarcube Corner and within a crowd of ponies, it disappeared. You were at the center of the party, but you didn't care to think about it or anything else for that matter except for that butterfly, so you begin to look for it and on your search, you ran into Pinkie Pie.
"You actually came! Feeling any better!?"
Though the party was lively, You weren't feeling it. Your thoughts were still on that butterfly. You replied to her, "Have you seen a blue butterfly?"
"What!?"
"Have you seen a blue butterfly!?"
"A butterfly!? No! Why!? Does it belong to you!?"
"Well...no! I just...nevermind!"
"Okay! Give it some thought though!"
"What!?"
"The party!"
"Oh!"
"And good luck finding the butterfly!"
"Uh...thanks!"
She scampered off with her friends Twilight Sparkle and Apple Jack. You took a good look at the two and still...you sensed nothing. Walking around, you see Rainbow Dash showing off her skills like usual, Rarity introducing the new line of fashion with many of her own elegant dresses, and many other ponies, unicorns, and pegasi enjoying themselves. Still no luck.
A sharp pain came from your chest. It was quick, but stunned your whole system and it felt like you were going to collapse. Falling onto your front legs, you knew that your time was coming soon. You took a few seconds to recollect yourself before getting up. With no luck at the party, you headed for the door, but you stopped for a moment. You turned around and the blue butterfly was back. Quickly, you ran after it pushing through the crowd (hurting a few along the way) trying not to lose it again. It took you upstairs, but as soon as you reached the top, it disappeared again. The butterfly wouldn't leave your mind. Going door to door, you search desperately for it. You find a few ponies in the rooms…being a bit naughty, but you didn’t care. In fact, you wished you could have that too, but right now the butterfly is all that matters. Approaching the last door, you hear someone singing. It sounded like a lullaby. At that moment, all your actions were no longer yours.
You felt drawn in a trance of that beautiful melody. Slowly, you open the door and as the butterfly headed towards the window, you see a yellow pony with long pink hair. You also notice her cutie mark was three butterflies. Her scent was very sweet. You couldn't describe this mysterious scent. You were drawn to it. Everything in your mind went blank and all you could see was her. All you could hear was her song. When she finished her song, it took you a few seconds to snap back to reality.
You slowly approached her trying not to startle her, but the floor creaked on you. Her ears perked up and she bucked you in the nose.
"I'm sorry! You okay!?"
You weren't, but taking the time to look at her, you see all that worry build up in her face with small tears and you could see that she was truly sorry. There was a slight whine in her voice. "Is she going to...cry...for me?" was your thought. She took you into her arms and patted your back a few times. You couldn't understand her action exactly, but it did make you feel better. When she pulled away, she gave a soft kiss on your nose.
"Feel better?" She asked. The tone was different this time. The whine was still there, but it seemed to weaken. She seemed...relaxed...at least a little.
"Yeah." You responded rubbing your nose a little. Surprisingly, the pain faded. Her kick may have been a bit weak, but it still hurt...a lot. Good thing she didn't put all her force in that kick.
"You sure?"
"I'm fine. Sorry that I startled you."
"Sorry that I kicked you."
"What is your name?"
"Fluttershy."
A nice name and it explained why she hit you too. She was shy and easily scared, but she was becoming relaxed with you.
"Fluttershy?"You spoke trying to keep the name in your head. It ran repetitively in your head and stuck with you. There was no forgetting it.
"Yes."
"It's a nice name."
"Thank you."
Both of you were silent and it was difficult for both of you to speak. All of your surroundings seemed to be nothing to you. All of your attention was locked on her and the thoughts of her. She was a bit red in the face and you were as well. She stared at you with caution. She’s not used to being in the company of others. It’s why she’s up here.
She was wondering the same thing you were. "What now?" None of you showed any signs of a threat, but you continuously stare hoping one of you will make a move. Eventually, you break the silence.
"Why are you up here? The party is down there." You already know the answer to that.
"Singing a song for the animals outside.” Okay…that you didn’t know. “ Very few stay up this late. They all gather to hear a song before going home. Something to keep in mind to help them sleep. You?"
The butterfly returned to mind.
"I was following a butterfly and lost sight of it."
"A blue one?"
"You know where it is!?"
She tensed up a little to your excitement and replied in a slight whine, "Outside! It...flew out the window!" She was easily startled. "Why!?"
"There was just something about it. It was like it wanted me to follow it. It disappeared though on me when I came up here."
"It lead you to me?"
"I guess."
Her face was getting redder. She sat down and asked you, "Can I ask you something?"
"What?"
"Are you...approaching death?"
"Yes, but how-?"
She put her hoof to your lips and responded, "This may sound silly, but...there was an old story I was told when I was a little filly. I'm...a little...curious...if it's true."
"What's it about?"
"A butterfly that helps ponies reach their dream...before they..."
"So it was helping me?"
"Sort of. Seeing one is a good and bad sign."
"How so?"
"It comes to you a day or two before you...move on..."
"And the good news?"
"Granting a wish."
"Right." You wanted to know if the story related to you somehow. You ask her, "Can you tell me the story?"
She gave a slight nod and began.
"In a town far away, a pony was facing a slow and...painful death. Facing it...physically and mentally. Everything was...slipping. There was one last thing the pony wanted before leaving this world. To be loved. A butterfly came to the pony and it wanted to grant that ponies wish. It led the pony to a filly at the hospital. The butterfly left the pony for awhile and the pony stayed with the filly. They played games. The pony even sung a few lullabies and told the filly a few stories. Dusk came around and the butterfly returned. The filly was in the pony's arms happy and asleep. The pony however, fell to an eternal sleep. The pony learned that the love that was being searched for was given by a child. The butterfly returned the filly to its bed and flew off into the sunset leaving the pony’s body and carrying on his tender soul."
She stopped so she could wipe the tears forming in her eyes. You saw that the love you were looking for was Fluttershy. The butterfly wanted you to experience love before you go. "So...the butterfly comes only when someone approaches death. Where does it go?" was your response to the story.
"No one knows. Maybe to the next pony, pegasus, or unicorn in need of a wish. No one knows what the butterfly looks like. It's said that the one facing death is the only one who knows. You can imagine the fear of butterflies. This one though...it's worth having. If you never find the one thing in your life that gives it meaning, it shows you.”
"So...the butterfly...you think...my time is soon to come?"
"Yes."
"And it led me to you."
"Yes."
Silence filled the room again. Taking some time to look at her, you feel drawn to her. Not sure if it's love you feel, but you know your time was coming and it was time to make a move.
"Fluttershy?"
"Yes?"
Choking a little at the sight of her, you round up some courage to speak.
"I know my time is drawing near and...there is one last thing...I wish for." You grab her fore hooves and pull her close. Both of you are nose-to-nose with each other…close enough for a kiss. Her eyes widened and her face was bright red. She couldn't move. Drawing her closer, you speak softly, "Will you...go out...with me...on a date?"
Her face was bright red and couldn't speak even if she wanted to. She wasn't really sure what to say. This is the first time anyone has really asked her. She was scared of the idea, but also, she felt a bit sorry for you. If the story is true, your time was coming a day or two from now. She wanted to at least make your final days happy in this world. After a couple minutes or so of silence, she finally answered in a quiet tone with a slight whine, "Yes."
All that tension you felt built inside was released. At least a little after she said yes. Question is now, what now? This is the first time for you to go out with anyone. Inexperienced to love, you had to do whatever came to mind. You knew you had to at least become closer than any friend. You needed to become intimate with her. Since she was close enough, you gave her a quick kiss on the lips that lasted about two seconds and pulled away a little red yourself. You might have rushed it. You weren't sure how she'd respond, but she returned the kiss. She actually kissed you on her own will. It lasted a few seconds more than yours and it seemed like when she returned it, there was a connection, but you have just met her. When she pulled away slowly, she spoke softly, "Sorry…I just…"
"It's okay." You had to keep her happy. "Promise me something."
"What?"
"No more tears, okay? Try to live it to the fullest and in the most positive of ways."
"Okay."As simple as that. There was nothing against it. You can sense something else about her, so you tried to push a little more. You had to at least find out.
"Fluttershy?"
"Yes?"
"Every relationship needs…well…whatever makes friendship."
"The Elements of Harmony?"
"Yeah. I'm a bit new to this."
"Same." Somehow…that didn't surprise you.
"So…before I…go…I want to be able to cover all the steps."
"There's so many. It'd be impossible to cover in two days."
"I can at least try."
"Yeah…so…what now?" You hoped she knew. Apparently not.
"I'm not sure." You needed information of this kind of thing. Who better to ask than Twilight Sparkle herself? Probably the most intelligent mare in Ponyville. She’s also got books on everything…at least you think so."How about we ask Twilight about this."
"Okay." The whine in her voice returned. You could tell she was still a bit shy and perhaps a little scared about this. Who’s to blame her? She just met you and your going out.
Both of you headed down stairs and the party was slowly coming to an end. It was getting late, but few decided to stay a bit longer. Twilight was helping Pinkie Pie clean up a little and Apple Jack cleaned out the kitchen. Rainbow Dash and Rarity was nowhere to be seen. Chances are, they went home already. You headed over to Twilight and you can see Fluttershy making her movements a bit…held back. Hesitant as if she really didn't want to ask. That means, you're the one who is going to ask her. With a little courage still in you, you call out to her.
"Twilight!"
"Yes?" She replied in a sweet tone.
"We have something to ask you, but…"You look back at Fluttershy and she was frozen in place. Twilight understood that this was probably something to be kept between them. Something private.
"After I'm finished cleaning up the place, we can head to the library. Spike should be asleep by now and there shouldn't be anypony around. We can talk there."
"Okay." Considering it may take awhile, you help out as well to pick up the pace.
After about 10 to 15 minutes, the place was cleaned up. Everyone said their farewells and headed home. You keep close to Fluttershy to comfort her on your way to the library making sure you also keep close to Twilight too so you can remember where the library was. You reached the library and close the door behind you and everypony else making sure no one was following.
Spike was asleep as Twilight had said and Twilight made some tea and even offered you some. You accepted. The tea was a relaxing tea and makes you drowsy after a little while. After everyone got a cup, Twilight spoke up, "So…what is it you wanted to talk about?"
Fluttershy was mute. You had to do all the talking…again."Fluttershy and I have decided to…have a relationship."
"Really?" You can see her ears perk up at the news. She was excited to hear that her friend found somepony.
"Yeah, but-" You kicked the ground a bit nervous to say it, so she says it for you.
"First time, right?"
"Yeah."
"I should have a book for it." She always does.
Twilight went from one shelf to the next looking for the book and eventually found it a few shelves down the road. She handed it over to you and the book was very…small. It had a fancy heart design that you don't always see often. The point of the heart split and curled. The top did the same, but it was inside the heart. The book had a lock on it too, but there was no keyhole or combination. It seemed permanent. When Fluttershy came to your side to look at the book, the lock popped open. Twilight was tearing up. Not in sadness, but in joy. You though didn't seem to figure out how it opened which really wasn't of any surprise. Before you could ask, Twilight spoke up.
"It only opens when two lovers approach the book."
"I see." You and Fluttershy look at each other and both of your faces were red. You decided to keep your attention on the book for now. You open it up to the first page and it was blank. You even flipped a few pages more. Still blank and so was the rest. "Um…Twilight…"
"The thing about this book is that it writes your relationship. People try to look for how it's done, but everyone has their own ways to express how they feel. That's why the pages are blank. This book has been opened once before, but when both of you die, everything is erased and it locks up for the next person."
"So it's like a diary of our relationship?"
"Correct."
"What if we don't want anyone reading our diary?"
"It locks itself when the two are away. It only unlocks when both of you approach the book."
"Twilight."
"Yes?"
"Who are the two who have opened this book before us?"
"I'm not sure. It was given to me by Princess Celestia and she said that the book held an ancient past. She eventually sent me a letter about the book. You would have to ask her about it."
"So this book becomes ours until…"
"Yeah. Take care of it, will you?"
"I will."
"Then it's yours. Good luck."
Fluttershy still seemed a bit tense, but was quick to leave the library. You felt that maybe this relationship is best to be kept between the two of you. At least for now. You could go back to your place, but it began to slip your mind as you stayed with Fluttershy. Before you knew it, you followed her all the way to her place. She turned to you and you could tell she was tired.
"We have to write our own pages in life." She spoke softly. You were stuck in a trance again. Luna's moon shined down brightly on both of you and it made Fluttershy's skin give off a gentle glow, but you can sense something else. Something about her was drawing you closer to her. Fluttershy backed up a little bit…a little worried, but the worry seemed to have disappeared after a few seconds went by. She stood still and allowed you to approach her. You take her in your embrace and stayed close together for about a minute. Her touch was very soft like rose petals. Her scent was fragrant. Even hearing her voice, you felt drawn to her. You touch nose-to-nose and take some time to look in her eyes. Her eyes are a very strong cyan and looking into them made you feel relaxed. After a minute or so went by, she kissed you and this kiss lasted for awhile. Her taste was moist and very pleasant. She appealed to all of your senses and those senses just seemed to keep growing. You were feeling a bit… lascivious. That feeling you wanted to see was showing. You sensed something of her alright. Now, you just had to see how far you can go.
Giving a slight push towards the door, you had her pinned against it. She slowly reached for the door handle and opened it causing both of you to fall inside. You lied on top of her. Both of your faces went bright red, but you didn't stop. You used your hind legs to close the door behind you. She lied there willingly waiting to see what you'll do next. You decided to start off between her legs. She opened wide getting a good idea of what you were about to do. Taking no second thoughts, you dove inside.
Her body tensed up to the pulse you sent through her and let out a cry considering how strong that pulse was. You forced yourself deep covering yourself in the strong and sweet taste. You wanted to be covered in her signature. Getting a sample of her wasn't enough. You pressed deeper with your tongue and her cries became shriller. You were surprised that she wasn't attracting any outside attention. You kept slipping out of her because the impact was quite rough. She puts her hooves around your head to stabilize and cradle you. You continued. She pressed on your head each pulse to give your drive an even better effect. The drive became so great in pulse that she finally came and covered your face in her signature. It didn't end there.
She couldn't move. Her body became extremely tensed and her lower half was very sore. She breaks easily, but you still had plenty of energy to burn. You had all the advantage to make another move. You drag her away from the door a little bit for the friction to burn a little between her back and wings to the floor. All her pain made her cries louder. This aroused you greatly. Turning her on her belly, back exposed, you get on top to keep her pinned. Not like she's going anywhere anyways.
You gave a slight tug on her wings to stimulate the pain and pleasure. You even nipped her ear with a slight pull on it as well. She did nothing to resist. She wanted this. Taking the time to reminisce while pulling on her ear and pressing her wings down, you thought, "How did she go from shy to completely open? What happened? Her whine went to a cry though, but this was a cry of pleasure." Leaving the thoughts aside for now you continue. Not like you were going to complain now.
Fluttershy was panting and hard. Now you couldn't have all the fun. You had to give her a chance to rough you up. You however did so well where she can't move. Picking her up, you take her to the bed. You lay her out for her to rest a little and stick to small pleasures so she can recover. You kissed her and she could taste her signature still on your lips. Staying close, you waited for her to make her move. Everything has slowed down a little and your mind was starting to think straight again. Again, you ask yourself about why Fluttershy was doing this. Maybe the most important one should be why are you doing this. You couldn't find an answer. This all seemed sudden. Since both of you were relaxing at the moment, you had to ask.
"Fluttershy."
"Yes." Her voice was weak and a bit shaken. You could hear her…barely. You continued.
"Why are we doing this? I don't know…why I'm…doing this. Do you?"
"No, but…I think it has…something…to do with me."
"Don't start blaming yourself now. I put all the force on you. If it's anyone's fault, it's mine. "
"But…I let you." There it was. You knew she wasn't resisting, but why?
"Why did you?"
"I don't know."
"Do you…feel sorry for me?"
"Yes."
"Could that be why you're doing this?"
"I don't know." She was beginning to cringe a little.
"You're scared. Is it because of me?" You had to level with her.
"No."
"Is it the outcome of all this?"
"No."
"What is it?"
"Me."
"What?"
"I'm…scared…of what…will become of me."
"Why?"
"I don't know." From the sounds of it, she doesn't know herself very well. You would think she had a pretty good idea of who she was, but she didn't know. It did make a little sense though. No one really finds themselves. Everyone is trying to find out who they are in life, but it didn't fit. Fluttershy has a cutie mark that represents who she is. Even after her mark was given to her in this world, she's as helpless as before. She knows her mark and reason, but what does she not see?
"What is it that you fear you'll become?" was your last question for now. She didn't even have an answer for that. It's the fear of not knowing. That's her fear. From there, it all started to make sense. It was what she doesn't know that makes her feel so scared. Explains why she's so shy. Few questions came to mind though. She's shy to many others, but why is she so open with you? Why is she so relaxed with you? Is she trying to face her fears by opening up to you? You kept the questions to yourself for now. Chances are, Fluttershy won't know the answer.
It was quiet for a few minutes and both of you lay together trying to figure out what caused this to happen. Eventually, Fluttershy slowly gets on top of you and rests on your body. She was too weak to move any further. She felt comfortable with you. Whatever it was, there was something you did for her to feel this way and vice versa. You both did something to lead to such a strong emotion. Perhaps...this was what love is. The strong connection that one feels for another. The passion...the desire...the magic. After a minute went by, she fell asleep. You cradled her in your arms and went to sleep with one last thing on mind. "This...this...is love..."
