Putting things Together (Part 2 of ?)
Previous ChapterNext ChapterYou sat there in your chair staring at Twilight with a shocked expression, but her look was more one of slight amusement. Questions were shooting through your head at a million miles per hour, but only one managed to find its way out of your mouth.
"But, how?" You asked.
"You told me," she answered, her smirk growing into a smile.
"I did what now?" You asked surprised.
"Last night, right after you got those things on your hands," she said gesturing to your hands. "You, Pinkie and I were walking back from your 'performance' and I was complimenting your musical abilities when you starting singing with Pinkie," she explained. You looked at her quizzically as you once again tried to remember what happened the night before. Images of flashing lights and a crowd of ponies were the only things that came to mind. After coming up with nothing, you asked, "What did we sing?"
"Pinkie’s smile song," she replied. You brought a hand to your face and groaned. "Remind me never to drink again."
"I'll be sure to do that," she said through a giggle, but then took on a more serious look. "So, do you want to tell me how you knew that song?"
You looked up at her with a confused stare and asked, "What do you mean? You just called me a 'Brony' so that should explain it all."
"Not exactly. Last night when I asked how you knew that song, you said that 'Every brony knows that song.'. When I asked what a 'Brony' was, you put a hand over my muzzle and said not to ask too many questions."
". . ." You didn't know how to respond to that. That bit of information was embarrassing and you didn't know what to say, so you just put your head down on the table. Hard. Very hard. A loud "Thump" resonated from the place where you hit your head.
"Red? Are you okay?" Twilight asked, hints of concern in her voice.
". . ."
"Red, say something," Twilight said, the concern in her voice growing.
". . . " Was the only response Twilight got from you.
"Red, this isn't funny. Stop joking around," she said. The concern in her voice turning into a slight panic.
". . ."
"Red?"
". . ."
". . ."
". . ."
".....Z z Z z Z....."
Twilight sat there dumbfounded. After a few seconds of confused blinking she said, "Really? I can't believe you knocked yourself out. What in Equestria would make you do that?" As she reached across the table to try to wake you up, but stopped. She slowly pulled her hoof back as metaphorical light bulb went off above her head. "Hehehe, this just gives me more time to think of more questions to ask."
Twilight then walked away from the table to get some parchment, quills and an inkpot.
Meanwhile, in your mind. . .
"Ya know, Big Mac, you're a pretty cool guy!" You exclaimed as you wrapped one arm around his neck and took a drink of your cup of heavily hardened punch.
"Eeyup," was his only response.
You smiled, looked at him and asked, "You're not a stallion of many words, are you?"
"Nope."
"So tell me. What are you doing here at Twilights?" You asked.
"Jus' came to check on ma' sister," Big Mac replied as he pointed to the sleeping form of Applejack on his back and made his way to the door. Much like the other party goers, Applejack had been out cold for awhile. Except for Lyra and Vinyl, who had never woken up to begin with. You and Discord were the only ones still up, and to your displeasure, Discord wasn't much of a drinking buddy. He was so grumpy and kept mumbling about how he no longer go to have any fun.
Discord had set his cup down on the snack table and yawned. "I think it's about time for me to turn in. It's getting late and I might have stuff to do tomorrow, so good night," he said, and with a snap of his claw he was gone. After he disappeared you sighed and said, "Man this sucks. It's my first night drinking and everybody is passed out after only an hour and a half.". You flopped down and gave a pout like that of a five year old. Bic Mac’s ears perked up when he heard you say this. He walked over to where you were sitting, grabbed the back of your shirt collar between his teeth and started to drag you out of the library.
"Umm, Big Mac. I trust your judgement and all, but would you mind telling me where it is you are taking me?" You asked when you saw Twilight’s still open door pass you by.
"Wrrm guin oot wif fwnds," Big Mac responded, though you couldn't understand him because he still had your shirt in his mouth. "Uhh . . . What?" You asked still wondering what possessed him to start dragging you away from the library.
This time he spit your collar out and said, "Ah' said, We're goin' out with friends. Nopony should ever have only an hour and a half when it's their first time drinkin'. Besides, my friends and Ah' were tryin' to find a new drinkin' buddy anyhow.". After he had finished talking, you stood up and dusted yourself off. "Oh, well if that was the case. You could have just told me," you said.
"So, who are your friends you're taking me to meet?" You asked as you thought of the few different possible stallions that you knew from the show, though not many came to mind.
"Thunderlane, Caramel, Cloudchaser, Dr. Hooves and Mr. Cake," Big Mac answered, not really giving anymore explanation than that as he turned and started walking again.
"Oh okay," you responded. You tried giving faces to the names he gave you. You remembered all but Cloudchaser and this Dr. Hooves guy. The more you thought about it, the more Cloudchaser seemed to fade from your thoughts and Dr. Hooves became more prominent. You couldn't shake the feeling you should know who he was.
Noticing Big Mac was far ahead of you, you stopped thinking about Dr. Hooves and ran to catch up with him.
'I'll probably figure out who it is when I meet him.'
You slowly opened your eyes upon waking up. You lifted your head of the table and looked around the dimly lit room and saw Twilight hunched over a desk with a quill zooming across a sheet of parchment.
You squinted your eyes and read what seemed to be the title of the page. "Questions to ask Red part 7."
Your eyes widened as you saw Twilight levitate the parchment over to a neat pile and started to work on part eight. You immediately started searching around the room for any means of escape. After several second of searching, you noticed the balcony door behind you and thankfully on the opposite end of the room from Twilight.
As silently as you could, you got up from your chair and started making your way to the balcony. You made it about halfway there when you heard, "Alright, that should just about do it.". You quickened your pace, opened the door and shut it behind you and tried hiding behind the door.
You facepalmed when you realized you tried to hide behind a glass door. You looked back over your shoulder in hopes that Twilight hadn't seen you yet. She had. Twilight was staring at you with an annoyed glare that sent shivers down your spine. You then looked over the balcony railing to see how far the drop was. It was about fifteen feet to the ground. You looked back at Twilight, then back at the ground, trying to decide if escaping her would be worth another fall. After another glance at Twilight, you grabbed the railing and jumped over.
What was waiting down on the ground for you was a very upset Rainbow Dash.
Yep. A new chapter. It's pretty short, but I have my reasons why that I will share on a later date.
