Frost Bite
Prologue
Load Full StoryNext ChapterThere was a chair, red, with diamond patterns in it, next to a lamp, surrounded by a room full of books, and a toy chest, and pictures. This was just about the only room in the castle without some way to see a window, or daylight. No, it’s not the dungeon, but it serves the same purpose. There were grand pillars, and mountains of pillows. This was not the basement, but somepony’s, some poor pony's room. It had bound him for all his known life. And the little of his life that was known to anypony was only known by a select few. The princesses, the guards who stood outside, now, Shining armor, and himself of course.
Well, the red chair was completely unnecessary to mention, but the one who sat upon this chair is more than necessary to mention. His coat was a very light blue, just about mistakable to white, but if you actually looked, not glanced, it was light blue. His mane was a darker, but still light blue, and his eyes, few of those who knew he even existed even knew the real color of his eyes, for he had a condition. A naturally born alicorn, or unicorn, can’t truly control all of its magic, at first. In that same way, if nopony teaches a Pegasus how to fly, it can’t fly either. But, anyway, some places he stepped, frost would seize, making it look as if he wore winter like a coat, and wherever he went, it followed. His breath could freeze objects, or if directly concentrated, turn an object into ice. Because of this, his eyes were covered by a thin layer of frost, which he could see through perfectly.
At will, he could make ice, and melt it into water. It was a gift, and a curse at the same time. Then again, just about all magic is the same way, just in different ways. But back to his eyes. Only his mother had seen them, they way they sparkled and beamed. But well, then life hit him, and they disappeared. His eye’s weren't like others, just a color, that is really pretty. His were a dark blue, like the night sky, when the stars and moon have managed to light it well, and from the color, you could see the stars, like a winter night, looking up and into the cosmos.
But nopony had seen them in so many years, it was all but forgotten, only one picture had captured them, before they hid behind the layer of crystallized liquid.
His name was Frost Bite, and yes for those who didn't catch on, he was an alicorn.
Anyway, back to the room; he had been stuck in there for so many years, and only let out maybe two or three times a year. It was considerable to say it was neglect. He could fly, if given enough room, he was just as agile, as rainbow dash, but not as fast.
He was fifteen, and could easily outsmart even Princess Twilight sparkle. He played the piano, and guitar, and bass, and was practically a master at all of them. Frost Bite had all the time in the world, and nothing to do, that is the excuse which we shall hold to, for there is none that fits quite so well.
But that is just the background, and the basics. Now is where we kick off, and the story begins. So sit back, and be ready. For, it is, shall we say, interesting...
