The Guardian of Harmony
Chapter 2: Kindness and Honesty
Previous Chapter"Hello, Tas the Toon Mouse." The pony greeted. "I am Luna, the princess of the moon. (Don't laugh, Tas. I thought to myself) I am here to tell you your mission."
"Okay, what is it?" I asked.
"Recently, a message has been intercepted by dragon in the stars. A planet far away has decided to attack Equestria and claim our land as their own. We currently don't know who they are or what they're capable of, but we need you and your friends to protect us from destruction." Princess Luna explained.
"But my friends are in another world." I told her.
"You'll see, soon enough, that you will find your friends here in Ponyville." Everything began to fade as I fell asleep again.
My eyes snapped open as I found myself in a room I never been in before. The bright sun rays were visible as it entered the room through the window. I rubbed my eyes, got out of bed, and peered out the window. Huh, there's a forest nearby, and a chicken coop. Is that a hummingbird? I opened the window and poked my head outside. CRACK! The edge broke and I fell out of the house. BAM! I face-planted into the ground. Ow, my mouth. I lifted my head and licked my teeth.
"Ouch!" I yelped as my tongue slightly touched the chipped tooth. My gum was slightly bleeding, but it hurts as bad as being poked with a torch. I pulled my lips in and walked around. From what I can figure out, this is an animal rescue hut, or cottage, and I there's a yellow pegasus over- wait a minute. I suddenly stopped and turned my head around. My eyes was fixed on a yellow pegasus with a pink mane. My heart throbbed at the sight. I quietly cleared my throat.
"Hi, err, my name is Ta-" She suddenly looked at me and screamed. She quickly ran behind a bush. She's a shy one, huh? I slowly began to approach her. "Hi, my name is Tas, and, ow," my teeth was preventing me from talking. Plus, I have no idea what I'm talking about. "I, ow, don't really know what- ow, I'm doing here." My teeth were burning from this.
"Um, my name is Flutt..." She spoke quietly.
"Hmm? I didn't quite get that." I replied.
"I'm..." She squealed. She heavily reminded me of when I was a little mouse. Ever since I got in trouble for talking excessively, I became shy as a panda. (Pandas are shy, right?) I didn't like the feeling of getting in trouble, so I steered clear of that path. Until a few years ago, I learned how to raise my voice and I'm not afraid of talking.
"It's okay, I won't cause any- ow, harm. I just need to- ow..." I sat back onto my black tail and held my hooves where my mouth was. The pain was beginning to become unbearable. "Do you know where the dentist is?" I muffled. Flutter-something carefully left the bush and walked to me.
"A-are you okay?" She asked. I opened my mouth and pointed at my chipped tooth. "Oh, my! Stay right here, I-I need to get the t-things." She quickly flew away into her cottage. After three minutes of pain, she came back with a toolbox and a wheeled bed. "Here, lay on th-this bed." I obediently climbed onto the bed and lied on my back. "Oh, my name is Fluttershy, if you wanted to know." I wanted to say something back, but my teeth was still burning in pain. Fluttershy began to inspect my teeth and started fixing it. She healed the gum and added the filling to the teeth. After we were done, I licked my top teeth. Nice and neat like before.
"Thanks Fluttershy." I said as I climbed off the bed and onto the ground. "Anything that I owe you?"
"Oh, um, no thank you." She said as she hid her face in her mane. There was an awkward silence between us as we blushed. I kicked at the dirt with my back legs.
"Uh, thanks again, Fluttershy. Nice to meet you." I turned around and began to walk away when Fluttershy quickly said something.
"That's the wrong way to Ponyville. Here, I'll show you the way." I stopped at my tracks and turned around again.
"Err, thanks." I caught up to Fluttershy and walked with her towards the correct direction.
"So, um, how come I woke up at your cottage?" I asked.
"Well, Twilight was setting up your bed at her house and she, uh, asked me if I could help her and give you a place to sleep. I decided to lend my room while I slept on the couch." Fluttershy explained.
"Oh, I'm sorry for that." I apologized.
"It's no problem. I like to rest on the couch." She smiled. I began to blush and I jerked my head forward. "A-am I making your uncomfortable?"
"No, not at all." I somewhat lied. "Well, actually, how am I going to say this, but..." My mouth ran faster than my brain, and I ran out of things to say.
"Are you okay?" Fluttershy inquired. My mouth was open, but nothing came out. "Did you lose your voice?" I shook my head and cleared my throat. I'm just as shy about this as Fluttershy.
"N-never mind." I looked forward and saw an orange pony running our way.
"Hey, it's Applejack!" Fluttershy shouted.
"Yee-haw!" Not only was a pony coming to us, but she was dragging a cart full of apples with her. On top of that, she had a dog by her side, too. "Hey Fluttershy!" When she came close enough to us, she slowed down to a stop. "Who's yer new friend here?"
"His name is Tas." Fluttershy answered.
"That's a nice name. My name is Applejack. It's great to see a new face 'round here." She took my right hoof and shook it up and down. "Say, do you wanna come over to Sweet Apple Acres? We harvest the best apples in Ponyville!"
"Sounds like a plan." I said.
"Here, follow me." She dashed off past Fluttershy and I. I turned around and began to run behind her with Fluttershy trailing behind. Boy was Applejack a fast one, but not as fast as me! I began to speed up, getting closer to Applejack. "Oh no you don't!"
"Oh yeah I am!" A small black trail appeared behind me as I passed Applejack. I didn't realize I left poor Fluttershy behind until I looked back to see where Applejack was at. Not only was she pretty far behind, but Fluttershy looked like a teeny tiny dot. I skidded to a stop and ran back to Fluttershy.
"Sorry about that, got a little carried away."
