Chapter 9

“So Brandon, tell me more about yourself.” said Rainbow Dash. She was curious as to who Brandon was. She started to understand more and more why he was the Element of Darkness. He was mysterious, his personality still remained unknown like as if it remained in the shadows.

“What?” said Brandon, he hadn’t been focusing. He had been too focused on getting to the factory and uncovering the mystery.

“Well. Come on. Everyone’s got a story to tell. What’s yours?” said Rainbow Dash “Any brothers, sister or anything back home?”

Brandon chuckled. “No. I uh… I never really had a family. I grew up pretty much alone, orphaned, childish. My childhood was a bit of a blur with…. Actually I can’t even remember ANY part of my childhood. I remember pretty much being thrusted into my teen years. I’m not proud of that though. When I was taken into a foster family at the age of 13 and well…. Let’s just say I was the ideal child they wanted.”

“What happened?,” said Dash,

“I was pretty much a street punk. Ripping off any store that I came across and fighting any one who got even in my way.” said Brandon

“Was your family poor?” said Dash

Brandon chuckled again, “Yeah right? They gave me everything. And now that I look back on it, I kinda feel like a dick.”

“A what?” Dash was still not familiar with swearing

“I mean uhhhh….. A jerk,” Brandon said

“How’d you meet the guys?” said Dash

“We all met through a series of unforeseen events. We all had ambitions and started working just as co-workers. But…. It’s like a connection was made between everyone. We were bros in a matter of time. And don’t tell them I said this but, I honestly would stick my neck out for those guys when they need help.” said Brandon,

“Really,” said Dash

“Yeah. I know it sounds corny. But I know I can trust them. No matter what.” said Brandon

The two began to approach the factory. It was large and fully functional. Even in the darkness of the night, the compound shined bright in the sky. They arrived at the front gate with a a security guard at the front.

“Rainbow Dash!” said the guard, “I haven’t seen you in quite a while,”

“Hey Rudolph,” said Dash, “Is my dad here?”

“When isn’t he here!” said Rudolph

The guard opened the gates and let the two pegasi through.

Brandon and Rainbow Dash entered the compound. Busy worker ponies rushed around getting from point A to point B. Some were frantically getting their jobs done to get home and some had just arrived.

“Come on,” said Rainbow Dash, “Let’s go see my dad’s first.”

Rainbow Dash lead brandon into what appeared to be an elevator. As he stepped in he felt certain that this was going to be the solution to his answers. The elevator rose.

“So where exactly are we headed to?” said Brandon

“The Rainbow Wing.” said Dash

“They make rainbows here?” said Brandon

“Yep. It’s useful for many purposes. But really. That wing’s just for show for when the tourists visit.” said Rainbow Dash

“Capitalism at its finest. Am I right?” said Brandon

Rainbow Dash chuckled.

The doors opened exposing a large outdoor like enclosed area with flowing rivers made of rainbow. The source of the mixture appeared to be a small cloud no bigger than him which periodically pumped out mist. However the rainbow was not forming considering it was night. Brandon looked back at the river.

“This is some Willy Wonka shit going on.” Brandon whispered to himself.

“What” said Rainbow Dash

“What? Nothing,” said Brandon, “Question. Are there any questionably short workers around here with orange coat and green hair who spontaneously break into song and dance?”

Rainbow Dash looked at hime confused, “Uhhh…. No. Why?”

“No reason.” said Brandon

“DASHIE!” a voice called out from a far. A blueish grey pegasus came running up to Rainbow Dash and hugged her.

“DAD!” said Rainbow Dash. The two pegasi embraced each other.

Rainbow Dash’s dad looked at Brandon, “Who’s your friend?”

“Dad this is Brandon,” said Rainbow Dash

“Hello.” Brandon said. He felt familiar with this pegasus. He felt as if he knew him.

Rainbow’s dad looked back at Dash, “Oh my. It’s been forever since I last saw you. How have you been.”

“I’ve been fin dad,” said Rainbow Dash, “Brandon here though, would like a tour of the place.”

“Ah.” said Rainbow Dad, “Well I can most certainly give you a tour on this area. The rest of the factory well…. You’re going to have to talk to the manager.”

“That’s cool,” said Brandon, “I’m actually quite curious of this particular area,”

“Well what would you like to know,” said Dad

“Well, for starters,” said Brandon, “What’s the mixture made out of?”

“Oh the rainbow?” Rainbow Dad had a smile on his face, “Come here. I think you’ll like it.”

Rainbow’s Father lead Brandon to a bowl which had a type of leans above it. “Look at that cloud,” he said, “Have you ever wondered what would be happen if you focused a beam of light into a tangible substance? Well, we here at the CloudsDale Weather Factory are proud to say that we have done it. The light is focused through the leans after a puff of mist bursts out of the cloud creating a rainbow. The beam is then turned into a liquid substance which can be used to power even the most powerful forms of technology.”

“Sir.” Said Brandon “Are you talking about…..”

“Harnessed Solar Energy” said Rainbow Dad, “Amazing isn’t it? A form of power that is infinite and can be harnessed in many ways.”

The Raz appeared. “However. This amount of energy does come at a price. See even though it’s solar of origins. This mixture leans to the side of Nuclear Technology.”

“What?” said Rainbow Dash. She wasn’t familiar with the concept of nuclear energy. But in reality, everything seemed new to her. It was all going by too fast.

“Wait,” said Dad, “What exactly are you?”

“Long story,” said the Raz, “Main thing is, at least I didn’t come here to rip your insides out. And with that, you can consider me an ally, not a foe.”

“Okay, and what exactly is this ’Nuclear Technology’ you’re speaking of?” said Dad

“Raz,” said Brandon, “Are you implying that this factory can…”

“Blow up and wipe out over Half of Cloudsdale with it? Yes.” said Raz

The group paused and looked at each other. Rainbow and her dad were having trouble processing this. The factory has existed for years and has not encountered one single problem. Just then a mare walked into the facility, she had a yellowish green coat with yellow and red mane that had a weird punk look to it. She had a panicked face on her as she approached Dad.

“Lemon,” said Dad, “What is it,”

“Mister Rainbow,” said the mare, “We have a problem…..”

10 minutes earlier……

A hover-car like vehicle had approached the factory. The vehicle was small, seemed like it couldn’t hold more than 5 ponies at max. It had a very steampunk look to it, gears, pistons, all the bells and whistles. It appeared to be more like a car or truck. It worked it’s way up to the front toll booth where Rudolph had been. The vehicle stopped at the booth as Rudolph approached him.

“Hello there gentlemen. How is everyone today?” said Rudolph

There were two Stallions riding in the front. They had masks on that covered everything but their eyes. They said nothing as a look of confusion dawned on Rudolph’s face.

“Gentlemen?” said Rudolph

In a split second, the stallions drew weapons and fired a precise bullet into Rudolph’s head. Five stallions immediately unloaded from the vehicle and moved onward to the factory. Ready unload every last bit of ammunition they had on any innocent bystander.

Now….

“Wait,” said Brandon, “Terrorists? How can there be terrorists?!”

“From what I heard, they forced their way in using portable fire arms.” said Lemon. A massive siren began to sound all over the factory as ponies scurried to get out of the facility.

“Someponie’s been drafting weaponry.” said Raz, “Brandon, you up for saving the day?”

“Ha,” Brandon laughed, “You won’t half to ask me twice!”

“Count me in,” said Rainbow Dash

“What no!,” said Dad, “I’m not going to let you risk your life for this!”

“Dad I can do it!” said Rainbow

“No! You’re coming with me!” Dad grabbed Rainbow by the hoof and dragged her off.

Brandon looked at Raz, “So,” said Brandon, “ready to kick some ass?”

“Are YOU ready?” said Raz

The Raz disappeared as Brandon headed right for the elevator. As the elevator opened a massive explosion went off that shot him a good 5 feet back. The five ponies exited the elevator. They were in some type of uniforms fabricated out of white shirts, white pants, black boots, and of course, their black masks.

“Sir,” said one of them to what appeared to be the leader, “This is the room. We’ll have the charges set and ready for detonation.”

Brandon was lying on the floor half unconscious from the blow, but he tried regain his strength slowly. Meanwhile, the Raz was busy listening to the attacker ponies.

Brandon began to here a voice in the back of his head, “You here that,” it was the Raz, “They’re gonna level the factory.”

“I know,” Brandon said in pain.

“What a coincidence too. After I just got finished explaining to you about this factory,” said Raz

“Help me the fuck up!” Brandon yelled out loud. The attacker ponies focused in on him. The leader stepped up.

“Well, well, well,” said the leader, “Looks like we’ll be knocking out two birds with one stone boys.”

“What do you mean?” said one of the others

“Idiot! Look! Can you not see who it is?”

“Oh my…” said another, “It… It’s him!”

“Shame you had to come here to die like this little fella,” said the leader to Brandon, “And to think. There’s so much stuff that you don’t know yet. Oh well, sucks you won’t live long enough to find out.”

The Raz spoke again in Brandon’s mine, “Alright! I got you! Get the fuck up and kick this guy’s ass!”

Brandon stood up and sucker punched the leader in the face. He stood now on all fours strong and proud. The Raz once again lent him a helping hand and saved him. Brandon felt strong this time though, he felt a powerful rush of self confidence and power. It was a feeling he never experienced before.

Brandon spoke, “Raz….”

BOOM! Just like that, Brandon received a bullet right through his head…………

Now hold up! We’re not done yet. This isn’t even the end. (Not even close)

Now where were we? Oh that’s right…….

Brandon woke up in a Black room. There was nothing in there. The room was empty, confining, and quiet.

The Raz materialized right in front of Brandon, “Woah, woah, woah!! Did you…. Did you just fucking die!!”

“I’m dead?” said Brandon

“That’s kind of what happens when you get shot in the face!” said Raz

“I got shot in the face!” said Brandon

“Get with the program you piece of shit!” Raz slapped Brandon across the face.

“Wait,” said Brandon, “If I’m dead that why am I……. here?”

“You’re not entirely dead.” said Raz, “My job is to keep you alive. your soul right now is in limbo. Which is here. I can only help you a little bit. Everything else, is kinda up to you.”

“Alright,” said Brandon, “I’ll take that into account next time,”

“Alright, I’m gonna send you back in. When you come to I want you to make a mad dash for the Rainbow Mixture.”

“Why” said Brandon

“I’ve got an experiment I’ve been meaning to test out.” said Raz

“Alright” said Brandon, “Let’s do this shit!”

“Don’t fuck this up,” said Raz

“Don’t worry, I won’t,” said Brandon

“Good luck!”
