Final Fight for Freedom

Year 2306

Planet: Canis

The apocalypse has started over a year ago when the cats have taken over those of us who had survived the initial attack from the horses. Those of us who had survived were put into Labor Camps or have been killed. When the cats started to attack at first we were destroying them on all fronts, but everything changed when the cats were able to recruit the horses from Callabus. Mostly everyone has been taken, but there is a small shimmer of hope for freedom for the dogs. A small attack team is left alive and still fighting. I am the leader of the attack team who fight for the freedom we dogs once had named Freedom Fighters and my name is Ace. I am a pure-bred German Shepard and my teammates are made up of Isis who is a Doberman Pincer, John the Bullmastiff, and Cerberus the Rottweiler and intelligence officer Loki the Doberman pincer.

“According to Loki, Atuauri the cat overlord and Seabreeze the horse overlord, are being guarded by 6 horses at all times. Now if you all remember the battle of Wolf Creek we will be using the same tactic except with a small change on my part. Are there any questions?” I stated

“Sir, if I may ask, what is the change to your plan?” John asked

“I will be assassinating the leaders instead of capturing, and I will be destroying the building which is their headquarters so that I might someday purge the memory of what happened from everyone’s memory.  Now are we ready to win back the freedom we had so many years ago.”

“Sir Yes Sir” replied the rest of the team in unison

“May the Alphas guide us to victory, now moooove out.”

We exit the woods and make for the bushes and trees leading up to the fortress that the overlords call their headquarters.

We arrive shortly and hope the gates. Shortly after we arrive me and my team separate as planned.  I watch as my team goes through a dark alley leading to what could possibly be our last mission for freedom. I take one last look around looking at the area I once was able to call home. Where a crystal blue lake once was, was a lake of diluted brown water not safe to drink. What were once green hills full of myriad types of flowers, there was nothing but dead grass. Where there was a beautiful forest were groups of cut down trees. The area left a distant memory of what I had and what I had lost to drive me to this point. Jumping over another barrier of the fortress while staying in the shadows moving towards the main throne room he stays in place when he sees a group of guards.

We travelled to the point designated for distraction by Ace because it was proper distance from the castle for them to do anything should things to go awry.  We were mainly staying in darkened alleyways only appearing to take out another guard. While taking out our third guard I had begun to think about how things have gone thus far and when I should admit my feelings for Ace.

When we win this fight I swear the first thing I will do after this final fight is going to be admitting my feelings and asking Ace out on a date. Then we can begin the process of rebuilding the world to the glory it once was. Maybe, just maybe, even way better than the world that we had before. But I know that with Ace guiding us that we can do almost anything.

I was snapped out of thought by a paw waving in front of me coming back to my senses. I see it was Cerberus.

“Someone daydreaming bout da Captain again eh.”

A slight blush showing under my short fur. I decided that if I didn’t retort quickly the rest of the team wouldn’t let this go anytime soon

“Shut up Cerberus, it’s only a small crush.” I state in a whisper the blush still adorning.

“Oh please, I see the way you looked at him when he was debriefing us on what to do a little while ago.”

The blush adorning my cheeks had overtaken the rest of my head.

“I said shut up.”

“Even if you did tell him, I don’t think he has gotten over Emma yet, poor guy a week away from their wedding and she dies because of the fucking horses,” stated John. “Now shut up before we get found by the stupid guards.” John hissed in a whisper.

We finally make it to the wall of the fortress and prepared the chain and hook to scale the wall and begin the part of the mission inside.

Viewpoint of Ace

After making it inside I took out the guards that were in small sitting room I make it out into the final hallway before the final showdown with the S.O.B. that caused this world so much pain. I look down one direction and don’t see any guards and then down the other direction, still no guards.

Huh could have sworn that they would have guards stationed outside of the room where that S.O.B. does most of his fucking business. That leaves three possibilities, 1.)He isn’t in there 2.) My team did an excellent job at distraction or 3.) The bastards somehow figured out that we were on our way. I’m going with option number 3 to be safe.

Raising my ears and putting them up next to the door to listen for the sounds of any life inside the room the process was all in vain, because before I put my ear next to the door, it swung open. There standing in the doorway were two guard horses and before I could react I was grabbed and thrown into the room. Getting up I notice that I am surrounded by at least twelve guard horses and in the corner of the room sitting on their make shift thrones are the two overlords I was trying to take down.

“Ah, it is good of you to finally join us Ace.”  Atuauri stated in a raspy voice

“How did you know that I was going to be here Jackass?.”

“Well, well such a bad mouth for a pup,” Seabreeze retorts.

“What ever you stupid equine piece of shit!”

“Well equine yes, but stupid no, I’m at least smart enough to know when I’m being played captain oblivious.”

“What do you mean?”

“Isn’t it obvious, the only other dog that you told about your plan that is not on you little team. And funny how he just all of a sudden got blue prints to this fortress. Didn’t it occur to you or are you really that stupid?”

“What you mean to tell me is that Loki has betrayed me?”

“Well, give the pup a Steak. You can come out Loki and watch Ace die.”

Then a door to the side of the ‘throne room’ opened and out came the treacherous traitor Loki.

“You traitorous fuck do you realize what you have done? You have doomed all dog kind to be subservient to these two!” I say pointing a paw at the two overlords.

“You have been a pain in our asses for too long Ace any last words before we have our guards destroy you?” says Atuauri

“Yeah 1.) If you think you are going to overtake this land without a final fight from me, you have another thing coming you fuck. And 2.) just bring it bitch! You have taken everything from me, my wife, my world, and you managed to turn my best friend against me.”

“Now that, that is over GUARDS KILL HIM” Seabreeze yelled to the guards from his throne

At that instant the guards all took a step towards me closing me in for the fight. I take a moment to assess the situation looking for any weak points in the guards.

They are tall so I cant jump over them, they are strong so I cant use upright force against them. Yet they are not very agile with their armor on maybe I use that against them. Yet I will need to get out of the circle of death.

Looking around to look for the escape I see just one, in between two guards there is just enough space for me to be able to jump through if I get a running start. Before I could get the escape plan underway the guards start running at me with hooves ready for the attack.

Quickly blocking the hooves coming from the front I take the moment to launch myself towards the windows of the fortress. Looking around I catch the final glimpses of the overlords and Loki going into the room, that Loki had entered from and quickly closing the door.

Turning my vision back to the guards in the room, I have to dodge another set of hooves this time bringing my paw in to counter the attack with a quick jab at the exposed neck of the attacker. He backed up holding his throat, allowing the others to attack. I was able to block two of the hits but the third hoof hit me square in the ribs.

Shit if I am going to win the freedom back for my kind I have to throw my ‘do not kill’ moral out the fucking window.

The hit from the guard was hard enough for me to hear a residing sound of bone cracking. Pulling out my inner Hong Kong Phooey. I start to get pissed and attack everything that moved starting with the fucker that had hit me in the ribs. He tried to hit me again but I sidestep and quickly bring my forelegs in and repeatedly attacked the exposed neck, while either ducking or blocking the other guards.

Ducking under a guard I hit with a final blow and one guard went down eleven more to go. Going to the next in line I continue the attacking tactic until three guards were left. Having received various blows my body was really starting to ache.  Two of the three guards come in from the front while one tries a flanking position. The two in front try attacking me and I block while taking my mind off the other one.

The next thing I knew I was being kicked in the side successfully throwing my body across the room tumbling to the ground. I shakily get back up on my paws and continue my attack. I start running and tackle one of the guards and start pummeling him. I quickly roll off of him to dodge an attack. The attack continued and hit the guard with enough force to knock him out.

The remaining two start getting panicky looks realizing that they were either going to die now or when they regain consciousness for failing their overlord.  Even through their fear they continue their attack. They once again try the flanking maneuver, but this time I was ready. When the one in back was about to buck, I jumped out of the way. The kick connected with the guards’ head effectively killing him, leaving only me and a single guard left standing. Once the guard has realized he was alone he started to panic even more and decided to make a break for it.

Turning back to the door covered in bruises, a few broken bones, I wearily make my way for the fight that would either kill me or win the dog race the freedom they once had. I hobble over to the door. Opening the door and walking in the next thing I knew I was flying through the air from a kick from Seabreeze who was standing at the edge of the door.  When I landed I felt something wet start to cover my fur. I shakily start to get back up when I felt another kick to the ribs causing me to fly through the air once more. This time I hit a metal wall and started to feel blackness overtaking my vision. As I heard a metallic door slam shut I had only enough strength to murmur “Emma I have failed. I will be with you soon, in Rainbow Bridge.”

We were just a few feet away from where we were to meet Ace after he took out the overlords when we heard a loud rumbling and a smelt a foul odor emanating from down a hallway.

“Phew, what is that terrible stench” I said waving a paw in front of my nose.

“It smells like smoke, but where could it be coming from?” Cerberus replied.

“I don’t know, but do you think it has anything to do with Ace?” John stated.

At the thought of Ace being in trouble, I bolt down the hallway into a larger room. Noticing that there are at least ten guards knocked out or killed. I continue in the direction of the smoke to a pair of open doors that lead into a side room. Looking into the room I see the overlords at a giant metal machine with blinking lights connected to this bigger machine with a spike at the tip of it. With elongated oval body and a pair of cones at the bottom, this is where the smoke is coming from.  Above the machine is a timer counting down from thirty.

Overhearing the overlords as I stand in the doorway with my teammates, they seem to say “So when this rocket goes off Ace will be no more?” Seabreeze asked.

“Yes, I have programed it to go into deep space towards the group of meteors in the Horsehead Nebula. Thanks again for freedom.” Loki stated.

What that bastard traitor. I can’t believe that our longtime friend would betray us like that.

“Hey assholes, back here!!” I yelled

“Oh look who decided to show up for their assigned death,” stated Seabreeze.

Me and the rest of the freedom fighters start running towards the overlords and traitor for the final battle. John is fighting Seabreeze the horse, I am fighting Atuauri the cat, and Cerberus is fighting Loki the dog traitor. Atuauri goes for a quick scratch across the neck. Dodging out of the way I counter with a tackle and start the pummeling. I am flipped off him as he kicks me off. Rolling to a stop on the floor I quickly glance at the timer

I start running towards the controlling machine they were standing at. Before I made it there, I was tackled to the ground and started to get scratched. Bringing my head up, I pull off a head-butt dizzying the cat enough to throw the cat off of me. Getting up again I start making my way over to the machine. I again take a look at the timer.

Dammit which one is it

Fuck, we are to late. Everyone in the room stops fighting as the rocket blasts off, to become a part of a broken meteor. I felt my heart break and my sadness turn to anger as I run as fast as I can and start pummeling Atuauri to a bloody pulp. I was moving at an unnatural speed as I felt the blood course through my veins. In a few minutes of straight onslaught of attack Atuauri is dead, and I move to the next target.

I assist John in fighting the horse bastard. I go for a kick, and manage to kick him in the armor, successfully denting it. Meanwhile John was taking a flanking position to tackle the enemy to the ground for the slaughter. Before he managed to get the tackle in Seabreeze bucked him to the wall. While he was still on two legs I chop his legs out from underneath him, and start on the next onslaught of offense.

With John joining me the battle only lasted a few more minutes. Ending with a rather large chomp to the throat, Seabreeze is dead. John and I turn around and notice that Loki is also dead.

Looking back at where the ‘rocket’ was, I can feel tears starting to sting my eyes

We have won our freedom thanks to you Ace. Your sacrifice was not in vein. Even though you are gone we shall always remember you.

“W-W, We must h-hold re-remembrance for Ace to-to-tonight.” I just manage to choke out.

Sitting outside on a quiet hill overlooking a large diluted lake, where Ace would often come to think about many things, especially often after Emma had passed, John, Cerberus, and I now sat. Tears pouring down my cheeks matting my fur down to my body I step forward to a small single stone to mark his memorial, and turn around to face my teammates.

I look over to the stone one more time before pulling myself together and begin the speech that I had put together for Ace.

“We are here to remember Ace, who through his leadership and bravery we were able to gain back our freedom. Cut down in his prime because of one who he thought he could call friend. Even though he is no longer with us, we know he has been rejoined with Emma and the Alphas. As long as we remember the things he had taught us through the years of his leadership, that he shall always be with us. Now let us do the final call of action to remember him by.”

We then proceed to howl into the night for a good few minutes.

Turning back to the stone and bow my head, while my two surviving teammate come and put a paw on my back. At the contact I completely break down and openly bawl into their shoulders.

“I-I-If we were o-o-only quicker in getting th-th-through the fort. He wou-would still be with us.”

“It’s not our fault; it was the time the Alphas chose for him to go. There is nothing we could have done,” Cerberus states.

We proceed to sit there for a while me crying into their shoulders on the hill paying our final respects to our leader who has taught us so much.

The speeding rocket was cutting through the airless vacuum of space quickly approaching the destined meteorites, but before making contact something strange happened. The rocket initially was supposed to crash with the meteorite and explode into a ball of fire, but instead it just collided with the fire red meteorite creating a rather large dent into a ship. This caused the passenger on the inside around like a rag doll. As Ace was thrown around, more cuts start to occur on his already beaten body. An unruly hit to the cranium was enough to wake Ace up while the meteor itself was on a collision course with a smaller blue and green planet to be part of a beautifully red meteor storm.

Some ponies were on a distant hill watching the meteor shower.

"Wow, that's amazing!" one stated

"It's really cool." stated another

There was even a little purple and green dragon falling asleep on the back of a purple unicorn.

As the meteor started to gain speed to go through the atmosphere, started to get surrounded by fire and a long tail of fire.

"DUCK, one is coming this way" yelled a pink pony.

As they all ducked a meteorite came hurdling overhead and coming towards a deep crystal blue lake. Before the meteor and rocket went into the lake a very weak Ace managed to open the door and jump out into the shallow part of the nearby lake, unaware of the changes entering a foreign atmosphere had on his body. Having jumped into the lake he had extinguish all the fire that was burning his body from hopping from a flaming rock.

Better ending is the beginning of chapter 2. The following was for voting purposes.

Viewpoint of Ace

I awake when i feel the sun start beating into my fur.

I get to my feet still very weak and I notice that I am in a lake. and i can feel that my fur is singed. I go for a drink when i notice something odd. my once black and brown fur had turned red

Wait, since when did I have red fur

Looking into the lake water for my reflection I see that I am no longer a dog.

“FUUUCK I’m a, a…”
