Twilight returns to Canterlot with her luggage. The guards happily greet her, unaware of her assignment. She begins to find her way towards the royal castle, Different thoughts shoot throughout her mind, back and forth, every step of the way, until she devised her plan. arrive at the castle, tell the Princess of her completed assignment, and be on her way.
Twilight soon finds herself standing beyond the stairs of the castle entrance. She has stopped herself in place. An uneasy vibe triggers a shiver down her spine. She soon proceeds up the stairs, and stops once more. Twilight hesitates opening the door. Raising her hoof, she slowly connects to the large door. before she begins to exert force, the door opens. glancing up, she is reunited with Celestia, whom resembles the same emotional look Twilight.
"Twilight, we need to talk about your previous assignment."
"Yes, my liege..."
Twilight and Celestia begin to walk down the hall. nothing but the sound of their hooves repeatedly hitting the ground can be heard. Twilight begins to sweat, as thoughts race back and forth through her mind. She wonders if she had failed her assignment. Quickly snapping back into focus, she finds herself standing in front of the garden entrance.
Celestia opens the door, and Twilight walks into the courtyard. Twilight stops at a small pond, and stares at her reflection. she begins to swell up with tears, as Celestia walks up behind her. The Two stare into their reflections. Celestia finally breaks the silence.
"Twilight, you need to know the importance of this past assignment." Celestia said, in the softest voice she could use.
"Why..." Twilight asked. "Why did you assign me this horrible task...?"
Silence roams the air once more, as the wind calmly rustles leaves in the background. Twilight begins to cry, disrupting her reflection with tears.
"Why would you make me assassinate one of my closest friends? and in such a cruel, cruel way?" Twilight whimpers to Celestia.
"This assignment was not meant for assassination purposes." Celestia replied.
Twilight slowly gazed up to the Princess, as her tears continue racing down her cheeks. Celestia looks down at twilight, as tears fill her eyes as well.
"Princess Cadence had a disease. Her continuous drainage of magic took its tole on her entire body system. That desert i sent you too was no actual desert. It was Cadence's state of mind, conscious if you will." Celestia explained.
Twilight stood still, locked in eye contact with Princess Celestia.
"I needed you to kill her because she would have had a gruesome death. You sent her away with a heart attack. She would have ended with......well......"
"Please, don't explain." Twilight stopped Celestia. "That is all the information i require."
Celestia stood in silence once more. She felt uneasy about the entire situation. But, there was no other option. it had to be done.
Without Saying another word, Twilight walked away from Celestia. All tears had been shed. all thoughts had been spread. Even though Twilight was unclear with the entire situation, she grasped the gravity of it. She was assigned a task, it needed to be completed.
Celestia glanced over to her student. she could tell she had made a terrible mistake. She had no true way to redeem herself. she knew the decisions she had made were unwise. These decisions not only destroyed one life, but ruined another. She knew twilight would never cope with this. But, she needed something to help her fuel her student's lessons, and unfortunately, friendship wasn't good enough. she needed more.
