The Creation of Equine Rule
Chapter 7: Nightmare Moon
Previous ChapterThe ponies have now proven themselves as almost perfect beings. They all loved each other for what they were and even vowed to all be friends forever. This was a new friendship; a friendship on a scale never before obtained. All danced and sang, hoof in hoof. Love had finally been claimed immortal. The ponies all lived in Equestria, which had already built a capital city called Canterlot. This is where the two princesses were kept; in their garden lays the encased Discord. Over the years, more towns were formed. These inlcude: Ponyville, Manehattan, Appleloosa, Cloudsdale, and many more. In celebration of complete harmony, the royal sisters decided to have a new feat. This was the foundation of the Summer Sun Celebration. This was made to announce the longest day of the year, as the sun shined as bright as the ponies’ hearts. In the year 435, the sisters made the first celebration. But Luna felt the slightest fragment of envy. All of the ponies loved Princess Celestia’s raising of the summer sun, but there had been no lunar related celebration. Away at night Luna wrote in her diary. She wrote,
“In all honesty, I feel ashamed to be envious of my own sister. This envy shan’t become succumbed towards me for I am tolerant. I won’t wish to tell her, for she may view me as immature or obscured. I only wish she knew.”
As night grew darker, she realized her envy grew. All of the ponies refused to embrace her beautiful night as they slept during that time. When morning came she tried to start anew, but then she realized that the ponies enjoyed her sister’s day far more than her night. That’s when Luna had the idea that she shall make the night eternal and then the ponies will be forced to enjoy it. One faithful night, Princess Luna had refused to lower the night and make room for day. Celestia insisted on reasoning with her, but the bitterness in the young one’s heart transformed her into a wicked mare of darkness: Nightmare Moon. She vowed she would shroud the land in eternal night. Reluctantly, with the help of all the other ponies’ friendship, the elder sister harnessed the most powerful elements know to ponydom: The Elements of Harmony. Using the magic of the Elements of Harmony, she defeated her younger sister and banished her permanently in the moon. But it is legend that on the thousandth year of the Summer Sun Celebration, due to star alignment, the stars will aid in Nightmare Moon’s escape. The elder sister then took on responsibility for both sun and moon and harmony has been maintained for generations since.
