You stand in place, unable to move. What the hell’s gotten into her? You shout in surprise as a scroll appears just beneath your feet, singeing the hairs on your leg. Luna turns round and laughs at you. ‘It’s a letter from Celestia.’

‘Yeah, I know. Got one when we were on the moon, remember?’ You roll your eyes at Luna, who just laughs. You read through the words, and your expression darkens.

I have noticed a slight change in Luna’s behaviour, and I’m sure you have as well. I am sending my fastest guard to pick you up, and we shall discuss this, odd, behaviour of hers.
Celestia.

You turn to Luna, smiling apologetically. ‘I gotta go see Celestia. I’ll catch up with you later.’

Luna frowns. ‘It’s a long journey through the everfree, are you sure you’ll be alright?’

You bite your lip in thought. ‘I am sure Celestia will be so kind as to spare me some food.’ Luna nods, and smiles at you. You kiss her goodbye, and she turns into the everfree, disappearing behind the bracken.

You lie down on a bench, waiting for Celestia’s “fastest guard”. You look up at the sky, an unusual pattern of colours streaking past. Hang on, that’s the Aurora Borealis!

You stare at the beautiful phenomenon ahead of you. The colours dance and swirl in the sky, changing from red to blue, blue to green, and so on. One particular spot in the sky catches your attention. It is a small dot of colours, green, red and blue, all swirling around one spot.

You notice something strange however. The pattern ends abruptly, leaving the colours to swirl in their places. You see a small dot, traveling quickly towards your location. It is blue, with green and yellow streaking from its sides. You squint, the sun stopping you from getting a clear view.

The colours get closer, and then you see. It’s a pegasus. The pegasus has its wings folded, rocketing out of the sky. It continues its path, streaking towards the ground. However, at the last second, it unfolds it’s wings, slowing its decent.

The pegasus lands, its knees absorbing the impact. It straightens itself, folding its wings once again. ‘Hello there. The names Aurora.’ He extends a hand, and you shake it.

‘What, like the Aurora Borealis?’ Was that him making the pattern?

Aurora chuckles. ‘That would be my name. I’m one of Celestia’s guards. I control Equis’ atmosphere and magnetic field. Kinda like the weather-pony.’ You grin. Wow. A guard who can laugh. That’s new.

‘So. I mean, I know you’re fast and all but, how do we get back?’ You gesture to Aurora. ‘Unless you wanna give me a piggyback to Celestia’s castle?’

‘I’ll pass.’ Aurora smiles at you, then closes his eyes. You are suddenly enveloped in a black aura, slowly being lifted off the ground. You re-examine Aurora’s head, looking for a horn. He’s a pegasus, how is he doing this?

You look at Aurora, whose fists are clenched in concentration. His eyes shoot open, burning with a black aura. The same as this one! Without warning, Aurora rockets off of the ground, bringing you upwards with him. The sudden takeoff jolts your body, and rattles your teeth.

You close your eyes, suddenly feeling tired. You yawn, lying down in midair. Aurora’s magic supports you. Your last thoughts are of Luna, and then you are asleep

You fall onto the floor, smacking down on your back. You groan. That’s gonna bruise up. Aurora looks at you, laughing. ‘Sorry about the rough landing.’ You stand up, stretching your back. You take in your surroundings, and you realize you are in the same room where you first met Celestia.

You look around, and notice there is no-one in the room, except for you and Aurora. He obviously notices your confusion, because he speaks. ‘Celestia’s in the room to the right.’ You nod your thanks, and knock on the door.

‘Come in.’ Celestia’s gentle voice comes from inside. You open the door, and see Celestia. You smile at her, sitting down on one of the seats. Celestia speaks, her voice clouded with sadness. ‘We both know something is wrong with my sister.’

You nod your agreement, and Celestia continues. ‘I beleive it has something to do with Nightmare Night. Every year, we hold a celebration. It revolves around the legends of Nightmare Moon. My sister.’ You frown upon hearing the words.

Celestia continues. ‘When I sent my sister to the moon, I expected her to change her form. To Nightmare Moon. However, evidently she did not, for reasons unknown to me. I beleive that her failure to transform was more negative than a benefit.

Now she is returning as Nightmare Moon, as Nightmare Night approaches, I fear that we are running out of options as to what we shall do. I cannot allow my sister to ruin Equestria, as much as I love her.’

You frown, thinking of a solution. ‘Are you sure? Maybe she’s just not used to having ponies around her. Luna’s guards are her guards, she knows and trusts them. These town ponies however, they are like aliens to her. She never knew them, trusted them, Nothing!’

‘I hear your concern, although I find it difficult to beleive. To show such, aggression, towards some-pony is unspeakable. I fear the worst for my sister.’ You sit in silence, thinking of the possibilities. After some time Celestia breaks the silence.

‘As I said, I fear for the worst. If it comes to that, I will have to have her executed.’
