Love and Harmony

BOOM!

Twilight Sparkle had just put a tiny drop of Love Poison into the potion of mysterious ingredients. Now she was sent flying back, wings flared to try and stop herself as magenta smoke filled the room. She coughed wildly as her hooves hit the ground, her ears ringing from the loud explosion. She started flapping her wings to fan away the colorful smoke, but something moving at a speed that can only be described as missile speed crashed into her, sending her and whatever-it-was tumbling.

"What the hay is going on!?" Came the shriek of Rainbow Dash.

Twilight looked into the wild magenta eyes of her pegasus friend. "Get off of me and maybe I can check!" She shouted, pushing her off and trotting over to the shadow of her table. She cleared the smoke around the table with a wing and noted that the potion had vanished, most likely evaporated into the smoke.

The Princess and the Pegasi managed to clear the smoke with their wings. Fluttershy did a quick check to make sure that nopony was hurt. The worst anypony had was that Twilight had a small bruise from when Rainbow flew into her.

Applejack turned to the Alicorn. "Now Twi, just what in tarnation was that?" She asked calmly.

Twilight looked at her notes. "I have no idea. The ingredients in the Love Poison must've contradicted one of the ingredients in my potions, which created a chemical and reaction and the potion exploded! I'll have to monitor any side effects on myself. You girls head home and rest up, we'll meet back here in the morning." She turned and ordered, her "something could go very wrong" face on. She levitated the papers towards her, stared at them and started sifting through them, staring closely at each word.

What she didn't notice, was the way her friends' and her own eyes flashed pink for the briefest of moments.

Applejack turned to the rest of them. "Come on now y'all, she needs some privacy." She ushered them out of the library.

The Princess looked around her extremely messy room. "Princess Celestia isn't going to be happy about this..." She murmured. Everywhere she looked there were magenta stains from the smoke and a large burn mark on the table. Her room in Canterlot and her room in Ponyville were two very different things.

"Don't think about that now Twilight, you need to concentrate." She told herself, looking back at the levitating notes.

Twilight had been reading her notes for hours. It was now evening and she was very stressed out. "This doesn't make sense!" She exclaimed, glaring at the abused papers. She slammed a hoof down on the table, which disrupted her magical flow and cause the papers to fly around and flutter to the ground. That's when she noticed one note was stuck to the desk from the previous explosion and that the sticky potion had stuck it there. She bent her head down and started reading.

If an incorrect amount of Love Poison is added, the resulting explosion will cause the affected ponies' romantic interests to return the feelings. The reason this happens is because Unicorns constantly leak magic, which they are unaware of. Even if the amounts are minimal, the smoke will mix with the magic and affect everypony in the room when he or she uses magic, which at that point will be mixed with what is theoretically known as 'Love Magic'. For this to work, the Unicorn using magic must be a powerful unicorn for it to even affect the surrounding ponies. For romantic interests to be affected, the unicorn in question must be with magic on the same levels...

"As an Alicorn..." The Princess read. Her violet eyes widened and she reread the note before looking up. Her chest heaved, her legs shook and she jumped from hoof to hoof. "Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no! Spike? SPIIIIIIIIIIIKE!" She shrieked, running upstairs and looking around for her assistant. After a few minutes of frantic searching she remembered she'd allowed him the day off today.

That's when she noticed the clacking of hooves outside the door.

"Oh no..."

Knock, knock, knock

Will cause the affected ponies' romantic interests to return the feelings.

"Princess?"

The Alicorn in question's cheeks turned pinker than Pinkie Pie. "C-Come in!" She called, her voice stuttering and high pitched. The stallion stepped in and she missed the way his eyes flashed pink when they landed on her. "H-Hello Flash Sentry! May I help you? She asked, pretending that nothing was wrong and failing miserably.

Flash Sentry beamed at her, blue eyes shining brightly. He unfurled one amber wing and took a scroll out, presenting it to her. "The report from Manehattan came in. With the new laws you issued, the amount of crimes has dropped sharply and ponies seem to be getting friendlier." He told her, smiling the entire time.

Despite the situation, Twilight felt a spark of pride. "Wonderful. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to write a letter to my friends." She levitated five quills over and started scratching the letters out.

"If you'll allow me to say so Princess, I must say you look quite lovely today."

Twilight turned bright red. It's just the potion talking Twilight, keep writing. "R-R-Really?" She stammered, still writing her letters.

Flash nodded as he bounced over to her. "Of course! Am I the first to tell you? I'd think that a pretty mare such as yourself would get complimented regularly." He insisted. Looking over her shoulder, he saw her signing the notes. "What're you writing?" He asked curiously.

"GAH!" The Alicorn went rigid and teleported the letters to her friends with a quick burst of magic. She turned to see his confused face and blushed deeper. "I'm so sorry, but I really must be going. Thank you for stopping- Woah!" Walking and talking while not paying attention to where you're going was never a good combination. Her hoof landed on a discarded quill, which rolled out from beneath her and caused her to slip, falling flat on her belly.

The Pegasus was instantly by her side. "Oh Celestia, are you alright?" He asked, helping her to her hooves. Before she could answer he slid himself underneath her and lifted the Princess onto his strong back.

Twilight's cheeks were like apples by this point. "F-Flash! I'm ok, please put me down!" She exclaimed.

"Forgive me your majesty, but I'd really rather take you to the infirmary!" He told her as he started running down the hall with the Princess securely on his back.

"FLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASH!"

Princess Celestia looked up from her cup of tea as she heard the long shriek go by her door. She blink-blinked and waited to see if any guards would come to get her. When nopony came, she turned back to her cup and took another polite sip of the warm tea.

Rainbow Dash looked up from the letter. "Oh no. Nononononononono." She flew around, letter in her hooves as she panicked. "Please be a mistake, please be a mistake, please be a mistake..." She chanted as she started chewing on the tips of her front hooves.

"Miss Rainbow Dash!"

The pegasus's eyes widened with horror. "Oh hayseed." She looked towards the window and on shaky legs proceeded to it. Dread filled her belly as she slowly looked out in the hall and saw him.

He just stood there, smiling at her.
