The Shadow of Giants

Spike gave a gasp as he ran through the forest, giving a look behind him, seeing the lights come closer. He looked at his claws, seeing them become dark grey, before diving into the cover of some bushes. It was night out, hiding his form perfectly

His breathing slowed, seeing six ponies he was familiar with, giving a look of fear.

"Where is that dragon?" Twilight asked, looking towards the bushes, her horn lighting up the area.

"How can you lose a six foot tall dragon? He's bright purple and light green, it shouldn't be this hard to find him..." Rainbow said, her large wings beating in the air.

Spike started to crawl away, before the ground shook, a shriek tearing through the forest. He looked up, his emerald green eyes widening in fear as he saw something that would give him nightmares, if he wasn't already in one; a larger version of a Gojirasaurus.

His enemy had dark grey scales, making him appear more sinister than he really was, his eyes a mix of red and yellow. His massive snake like snout had sharp teeth, used for eating meat and plants alike. The copy had large, sinister looking spinal plates on it's back, dark purple in color.

It's thick, strong legs stomped towards them, a hungry glare in it's eyes. It's four clawed arms balled into fists, a snarl plastered on his maw. It growled loudly, the rumbling sound heard through the forest.

The creature's tail swung around, slamming trees onto the ground, Spike seeing the fury on it's face. The 'dragon' tried to warn the others, trying to tell them to move, run away, anything, however, his jaws wouldn't move to form words.

The creature stalked forward, allowing the ponies to see it's eyes, looking like they were filled with flames. It stood to be 27 feet tall, just above the treetops. It reared it's head back, then let loose a shriek of pure anger, heard for miles, the monster showing it's powerful jaws and teeth that could tear a pony apart with ease.

Rainbow Dash tried to fly towards the monster, only to be swatted away by the monster, it's claws just missed her, but it's hand didn't, sending her to the ground. Twilight caught her with her magic, bringing her back to the group, thankful she was alive, but knocked out.

The monster snarled, feeling something hit his leg, looking down, he saw Applejack bucking her legs at his. He raised his leg, seeing the mare's face, before stomping onto her.

He gave a satisfied growl, but noticed his leg was moving. So sure, was he, that he crushed her with his weight, only to discover a creature saved her; Spike.

His claws were keeping his foot from crushing the terrified mare below him, giving a grunt of effort, trying to stop it. She started to crawl away, seeing cracks appear on the ground.

Spike growled loudly, before throwing the monster off of him, making it shriek in surprise. Spike then stood in front of the group protectively, nuclear rage in his emerald eyes, specks of yellow collecting in his eyes.

He inhaled deeply, then let loose a torrent of noise.

"SHREEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNGGGGGNGNGNGNGNNNNNNNNN!"

The monster gave a startled expression, seeing it's "lesser" enemy show enough strength to stop it's attack. The monster shook it's startled thoughts and ran towards the group, before Spike jumped up and slammed his fist into it's cheek, sending it into a nearby tree.

Spike grew in size, his grey scales turning back to their original colors, his eyes now fully yellow. He gave a rumbling growl, seeing the other monster start to get up, seeing Spike was now the same size.

The mares held terrified expressions, seeing the two titans clash. Spike sent his clawed fist into the monster's snout, making the creature spout blood from it's nostrils, before it kicked his chest, making Spike go on his knees, coughing loudly.

The monster smiled, then stomped on Spike, making the saurian roar in pain. Before it could end his life, a tail whipped around and slammed into the monster's chest. The monster fell backwards, allowing Spike to get up. He growled loudly, then slammed his fists onto the creature's skull, making it shriek in pain.

It slashed it's claws on his knees, making him bellow in pain, before it tackled him to the ground, biting onto his shoulder, another bellow echoing forth from Spike jaws.

It stood up, then punched Spike's chest, making him gasp for breath, then lie down, motionless, his eyes closing. The monster hummed happily, then raised it's clawed fist, ready to slash across Spike's throat. Suddenly, a purple beam of magic slammed into it's neck, catching it by surprise, making it fall backwards.

Twilight gave a silent snarl, the magic on her horn disappearing. She then turned to Spike, seeing him there, no signs of life besides the gentle movement of his chest.

A growl was heard, and she turned, to see the monster get up, making Twilight light her horn, catching it's attention. It walked towards them, it's jaws opening, ready to eat them. Fluttershy screamed, making it growl at her, annoyed.

That, however, didn't make her scream.

VrrrrrrrrrrrrrRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Spike's spinal plates on his tail started to glow emerald green, the neon light bright compared to the other sights and sounds. It slowly turned, seeing Spike's tail lift up, the monster slowly backing away. The light started it's slow trek upwards, looking like tribal lights on all of his scutes, lighting the darkness around them.

It slowly entered the spinal plates on his back, nuclear fumes pouring from his nostrils, smoke pouring from his gills. He stood to full height, his eyes starting to glow emerald green, the light giving a holy appearance. Spike inhaled, his lungs burning from the lack of air, his anger welling up in his veins.

His blood started to burn with energy, giving his lungs more energy. It felt like liquid started to fill up in his chest, the other creature giving a fear filled glance, feeling the warmth spreading to the rest of his body. He gave a rumbling growl, snarling, the bear like snout showing light green steam slowly come out of it.

The other monster gave a shriek of annoyance, thinking spike was bluffing with his attack. The monster, however, was mistaken in it's thoughts.

Spike thrust his head forward, opening his bear like maw, letting loose the emerald 'flames'. It struck the monster's chest, making it roar in pain, feeling it's chest slowly being burnt up. Spike walked forward, still letting loose the nuclear breath, killing the fake creature.

He stopped the attack, his body not glowing anymore, his glowing eyes returned to normal, seeing the creature, dead on the ground. His body hurt, his joints screaming in agony. The last attack had taken most of his energy, letting that breath consume his strength. He raised his bear like maw to the sky, and let loose a torrent of noise.

"SHREEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNGGGGGNGNGNGNGNGNNNNNNNNNNN!"

His legs gave out from under him, making him bellow tiredly. He then fell to the ground, feeling his muscles light with pain. His brain told him to stay up, and show his power, the darker part of his mind smiling, seeing he had shown his strength to 'lesser' beings. His body, however, disagreed, along with the good part of his brain, feeling his strength slowly sap out.

"I wonder if this is what dying feels like..." Spike's thoughts met him, feeling some peace at the thought.

"No, you're not dying..." The darker part of his mind told him, chuckling. "You have shown your true form, now they will treat you like a monster, a hero, a villain, an avatar of destruction...A God."

Spike's last thoughts met him in a flash, making him growl, tired.

"Now I have become Death, the Destroyer of Worlds."
