Sol looked up from the ground. Rainbow Dash was flying high looking for something. Sol waited for her to fly lower before asking.

“What are you looking for?” Sol asked.

“That stallion from earlier. He couldn’t have gotten far. He’s going to pay for what he did,” Rainbow Dash said.

“What did he do, exactly?”

“He used that magic and caught us off guard. When I get my hooves on him, he’ll think twice about doing that again,” Rainbow Dash said.

“So… you felt it too?” Sol asked.

“Felt what? You mean when he used his magic?” Rainbow Dash asked.

“Yeah, that bright light… and the burning feeling on my coat… it hurt… a lot,” Sol said, still feeling some of the after effects. The light had given her a headache as well, and she tried not to think about it too much.

“Yeah, must’ve been some powerful magic. Next time though, he won’t be able to do anything like that again. He just caught me off guard,” Rainbow Dash said.

Rainbow Dash looked to her left, where a filly was running up. “Hey Rainbow Dash, whatcha doing?” Scootaloo asked, panting from having to catch up.

“I’m on the lookout for a bad pony. Tell me if you see anything, alright?” Rainbow Dash said.

“Ooh, I saw this one pony near the construction site, he looked pretty bad. Think it’s him?” Scootaloo asked.

“Good Job Scoots, let’s go check it out. Sol, you coming? I can show you the rest of town on the way,” Rainbow Dash said.

“No, that’s alright. I’m still a little shaken up, I’ll just get some rest,” Sol said, yawning for emphasis.

“Alright, I’ve got a house up in Cloudsdale if you need a place to stay. Otherwise, I’ll catch you around,” Rainbow Dash said, before following Scootaloo in the direction of the construction site.

Sol looked around at her surroundings. They had walked quite a while, and there was grass on the sides of the road. She could see trees off in the distance, and a few building scattered about. Walking to the trees so she could rest, she heard a sound.

Sol looked up at the sky, the warm rays hitting her face and making her feel slightly better. Then, she saw one of the clouds move to block the sun. As if from a nightmare, the face of a stallion peered from the side of the cloud down at her. His face turned into a grin as the cloud started to descend.

Sol tried to walk away, to run, even to look away, but something was stopping her. It wasn’t a feeling, and it definitely wasn’t physical. It was the shadow. Forcing herself to look down, she saw the shadow of the cloud thicken and they were moving over her coat. She was suddenly forced to look upwards again.

“Ah, my little ray of sunshine… or should I say lack of sunshine?” The familiar voice asked from the cloud, as he jumped off and landed next to Sol.

“Who are you?” Sol asked, feeling tentacles of nothing wrap around her leg.

“Why, I’m the only one who knows who you are,” The stallion said, moving aside the cloak to touch the cutie mark.

“What are you talking about?” Sol asked, feeling awkward in the moment.

“You’ve gone completely off the radar. In two more days, you’ll be pronounced dead. You’ve built a new life, and all I did was secure it,” He said.

“What?” Sol asked, confused.

“That file, you left it at the library, didn’t you?” He asked.

“Why should I tell you?” Sol asked.

“I’m only trying to help you. I can’t tell you my name, but how about you call me anything you want?” he asked.

“I’ve got a few things I want to call you right now,” Sol said.

“So hostile… I guess I can do something about that,”

Sol felt the shadows recede and her movement given back to her. A cold feeling remained though, and she was about to turn and run.

“Call me Anon then, and I’ll call you Sol,” he said. (As requested by editor: pronounced uh - non)

Sol turned to run only to face complete darkness. She tried to open her eyes, but they were already open. When she turned back, it was still pitch black.

“Oh Sol, I thought I could help you. Why would you try to run? Maybe I should give you a little more discipline then,” his voice echoed around her. Sol found her movement once again bound. The cold tentacles were holding her down and she felt her throat go dry.

“Hey, asshole, over here!” Sol could faintly hear before her whole body went limp, her eyes closing.

Luz had walked home with Fluttershy and checked on her dog. After deciding she needed time to think, she went out on a walk. As she passed by the outskirts of town, she noticed a weird looking cloud. On closer inspection, the cloud was hanging lower than the others. Luz made her way to the cloud.

As she approached, she could see the cloak of a pony and the mask on her face. She couldn’t tell which mask it was, but she didn’t know what to do. Then, the cloaked pony was covered in a black mass. Luz galloped closer, wondering what was going on.

She then noticed that there was another pony, the same as before. Feeling rage enter her, she went in a full sprint at the figure. “Hey asshole, over here!” Luz said, before starting to throw a punch at the pony. She was about to make contact until a sudden flash of light caused her to close her eyes and lose her balance.

The punch turned into a trip as she fell and covered her eyes. They were seering with pain, as well as her body feeling unusually warm.

“Oh Luz, lighten up why don’t you?” Anon said, standing over her.

“Just who are you?” Luz asked, wiping her eyes again, before trying to open them.

“Anon, nice to meet you,” The pony said.

“Fuck you Anon,” Luz said, squinting her eyes.

“Really, such bad language. Can’t you at least say please?” Anon mocked, walking over to the black mass surrounding Sol.

“Why would you come over here? You don’t have any ties to this mare,” Anon said, removing the black mass from Sol.

“It wasn’t about her, I just wanted to show you a lesson about messing with me,” Luz said.

“And how did that go?”

“Shut it,” Luz said, finally getting up and opening her eyes all the way.

“You’re so simple minded it hurts. All about you. Are you saying you don’t care what happens to her?” Anon asked, raising his hoof over Sol’s head.

“This is about you and me,” Luz said, getting ready to charge.

“Ah, I see,” Anon said, looking disappointed as he moved his hoof away. “Then, would you like another taste?”

“Taste of what?” Luz asked.

“Power, pure magical… power,” Anon finished slowly, the air around him starting to shimmer.

“Bring it,” Luz said, running towards him at a fast speed.

Anon didn’t move as she lifted her hoof, heading straight for his face. He also didn’t move when the static energy surrounding him condensed. Luz was sent back the way she came, her mane frayed from the contact. She was in a pile on the ground, gasping for breath. Anon had taken the hit, a big mark on his face showed the contact, but Luz’s hoof was numb from the pain.

“I think it’s been brought,” Anon said, walking away. He was about to jump back on his cloud, until a voice behind him stopped him.

“Don’t act like you’re better than me!” Luz nearly screamed as she brought her hoof up, inches from Anon’s face. He hadn’t heard her get up, nor when she charged towards him again in a daze.

Anon’s face grew a smile as he saw the spark of electricity on her hoof. Being able to withstand that shock, he was impressed. But he never thought she’d have the capability to use the excess energy against him. His own electric power was still active, and he could foresee what would happen before it actually happened.

Luz made contact once again on his face. This time, a fireball erupted and she was sent flying the way she came. Landing hard, she was immediately out cold. Anon was faced with the same fireball, but he was only pushed back a few feet. Anon brushed off the ash before getting on his cloud and lifting off. The electricity in the air dissipated. Luz had energy around her still, and it soon dissolved into her own magic supply.

Sol was lying on the ground, the black mass gone from her, but a dark energy still hung over her head. She lay completely still, black tentacles receding into the ground, although a few receded into her. Underneath the mask, her good eye flicked open and went black before fading back to white and closing again.

Anon looked down to the fallen mares. He had a faint smile on his face as he looked over the town to where the next target was. Two for one, it had gone better than he expected. Sol could have put up more of a fight, but he was at fault for binding her down. Luz surprised him, and she wasn’t what he would call friendly.

Anon let his energy replenish as the cloud took him towards his next target. Darkness and Light Energy was demanding of him, especially back to back. At least he was done with the toughest of the two magics. Now, he just needed to get ready for a fight. He’d caught them away from the other townsfolk, but the others wouldn’t be as easy to pick off. Especially when Sol and Luz wake up.

Author's Note

In case you didn’t know, Luz (Pronounced: loose) means ‘Light’ and Sol (pronounced: Soul or Sole) means ‘Sun’… And to make this clear, I won't be working on the story over the winter break 2013-2014. That being said, I'll still be working on my writing, but not for any fics. I'll have this posted on all my stories, as well as the new stories I plan to post for any LoL fans out there. *Spoiler: It's based on Noc,*
Next Time: Light as a rock, and hard as a feather.
