Prolouge; A misstake that clears the way
Rainbow Dash. The one and only Rainbow Dash were beating her wings so hard and rapidly, that they started cramping. Every muscle in her body screamed at her to slow down. But she wouldn't. She couldn't. She had to make it back, back to safty, back to the place where no pony would see her. Her mind was a mess, Litterly. Thoughts raced by.
Breathe in.
'Why?! Why did i say that... Argh! Stupid... Stupid, stupid STUPID! And why did i say yes? That makes it even worse! I could say something like... "No, sorry i dont like camping." But no... Instead i say yes...'
Breathe out.
'I could always fake being sick... No... that wont work. Fluttershy notices directly if im faking it. How about... How about i visit some.. fake freinds. Yeah... That could... Nope. That wont work either.
Breathe in.
I could run away. That might work. Oh right... Pinkie... Ehh.... Come on Rainbow! Think! I could... I could fake a disaster so we have to save Equestria! Oh, who am i kidding! I can't escape it can i? Hmm... Maybe...
Breathe out.

'Hmm... Huh. I never painted my house so it would look like a red barn. Wait a minute. A RED BARN!?'
Gasp.
Crash.
Scream.
"What in tarnation!?"
'Ufcourse.'
Applejack walked to the hole that had appeared in the ground from nowhere. She trotted carefully to the hole that where mere inches from her familys home. What she saw was not a pleasant sight.
Blood.
Feathers.
Rainbows.
In the pit, a bloodstained Rainbow Dash layed flat on her belly.
"Holy pony eating macaroni! Rainbow are you okay!?" Applejack asked instinctively. Is that a word?
"Im fine. Its just bruises. Nothing to worry about." She said as she stood up. There where cuts all over Rainbows brutaly beaten body. Most of them was just scratches, but atleast 5 of them were deep.
"Rainbow, ya need help with those cuts. Some of em looks deep." Applejack looked at a perticular cut that went straight over Rainbow's right wing. She was sure that it would leave a scar, another one went over her nose and yet another on her hind leg.
Rainbow looked at Applejack, almost admitting that she needed help when she remembered one of her mothers last phrases.
"Stay strong. Stay strong for me, for you and for your father"
She quickly built up the barrier again.
"Don't worry Applejack! Remember that you are talking to THE Rainbow Dash!?" Rainbow opened up her wings and flapped them to start hoovering above Applejack. After a second or two, she fell too the ground grunting in pain. Applejack ran over to Rainbow and helped her to get up on her hooves again.
"You need help. Now." Applejack said deteminated.
"Fiine..."
Applejack fixed the last bandage around Rainbows wing.
"Y'all were very lucky that Ah was around. And ya were extreamly lucky that those wounds could be fixed here. Now Ah'm just wonderin'.... How did'ya get such a horrible crash? Ya usually only get bruises." Applejack looked Rainbow in her eyes, she avoided her gaze. Rainbow sighed deeply, but didn't respond.
"C'mon Rainbow... whats wrong?"
Rainbow shut her eyes hard, but still no reply.
"Rainbow... Ya know that Ah' wont think anything diffrent of y'all even if you tell me something horrifyin'. Ah' will always be there. And the other gals too. Now please Rainbow, whats wrong?" Rainbow opened her eyes and looked into Applejack's emerald green eyes. They screamed affection. Their faces where only a inch appart. After a few seconds, Rainbow finally said something, but it wasn't the thing Applejack hoped for.
"I... I-I can't tell you. Sorry Applejack."
And with that, Rainbow walked away. She walked and walked. Her destination was clear. Hill 364. The place of her mothers funeral. It was also the place where she and her mother first had met after 12 years. It was the place where she had forgiven her long lost mother, and it was also the place where she and her mother had spent so much time at. A tree had grown on the top and it was allready 2.5 meters tall. Underneath the tree, a stone layed peacefully in the ground. The stone in the ground had a poem on it.
'A pegasus without wings is shameful for its kind,
Thats why its wings it must find.
The very place you stand on is the last place this pegasus took off,
Her destination unknown and her soul strong and tough.
May she arrive in peace to her last resting place,
As she will soar to find her rest in the empty space.
Rest in peace FireFly,
Your memory will never die.
Rainbow sat down infront off the stone. She had read the poem so many times now. After her mothers funeral here, her freinds were kind enough to pick a new spot for their weekly picnic. She still remembered the picnic they had earlier today... she remembered it all.

"I have the two following weeks off, so i dont have any work to do. Im all free." Rainbow layed on the red and white blanket as she spoke. Her sunglasses covering her eyes.
"Well... Applebukin' season just ended... So Ah' am free too."
"And i dont have any orders for any new dresses."
"And my studies have slowed down a bit..."
Twilight placed a hoof under her chin. Pinkie grabbed a flashlight and placed it over Twilights head just as she got an idea.
"I got an idea! How about we all go and do a little camping trip?"
Rainbow's eyes went wide as dinner plates in shock. Luckily, her sunglasses covered it.
"That sound like a marvelous idea! The last time i went camping it was actually pretty delightful!"
"I don't know... What if Angel Bunny gets scared when im gone?"
"Belive me Fluttershy, he'll be just dandy."
"Well then, should we do a camping trip?" Twilight asked.
Everypony nodded except Rainbow Dash as she still were in shock.
"What do you think Dashie?" Pinkie asked.
Rainbow decided to stick to her image. "I... Uh... Sure! But where should we go?"
"Hmm... Roseluck told me about this forest called Manestream Forest. Its just outside Manehatten. Its supposed to be a really good camping spot." Pinkie said.
"That sounds perfect Pinkie! We'll go and camp in Manestream forest! How about... Tomorrow? Should we meet at the trainstation tomorrow morning?"
"That sounds perfect."
"Excellent."
"Ok... Sure... ehm..."
"Okie-dokie-lokie!"
"How about you Rainbow?“ Twilight asked.
"Yeah... sure. Why not?"

"I want them to go away! Mom, can you please make these stupid dreams go away!? Just for a week?" Rainbow asked out into the sky.
No response.
"Tomorrow.... Its all over... Then they will find out and ask me why? and What?. They will find out that im haunted when its dark and i only see black in the never ending void ruled by Sithis... they will find out The truth about my darkness..."

Chapter 1; Packing and traveling
Today was the day. The day of the camping trip.
They were going to camp in Manestream forest for a week. They had picked Manestream forest because the rest of the ponies in town said that it was a great camping spot as it didn't have any unwanted creatures in it.
Rainbow was packing her suitcase at her house. She didn't need to bring much, really. She litterly just got an apple, sleeping bag and a towel. Oh, and her saddlebag ufcourse. She had been thinking of skipping the towel and the sleeping bag by just making them out of clouds at Manestream forest, but then she remembered that there might not be clouds around there when she need them. When she was done packing, she decided to skip the 'flying-all-crazy-and-making-awesome-barrel-rolls' part and just walk. As she walked, she looked at all the ponies in Ponyville. Berry Punch where selling wine, Bon-Bon where selling sweets, Lyra was chit-chatting with Octavia... She even saw Ponyville's two new residents, Paw Flier and JoyStick taking a little flight. When she finally reached Ponyville's train station, she saw both Applejack and Pinkie waiting.
"Wassup?" Rainbow said as she approached them. Pinkie turned around so fast that Rainbow couldn't resist to feel a little pride in her chest. When Pinkie saw that it was Rainbow, she gasped and reached for her saddlebag. And out of the saddlebag, totally fresh and newly baked, a apple pie came out. But when Pinkie stopped infront of Rainbow, the pie flew out of Pinkie's hooves and flew right into Rainbow's face.
"Oh my gosh! Im so sorry Rainbow! I didn't mean for it to happen!"
Rainbow was shocked at first as she heard Pinkie say a sentence that sounded like something coming out of Fluttershy, but she ignored it after a little while. She removed the pie by using the towel she had in her bag.
'Towel, its your que." She thought for herself as she wiped off the apple sauce.
"Don't worry Pinkie... Its allright." Rainbow said with a reasuring smile as she put the towel back in her saddle bag.
The 3 freinds started talking about small things in their life. Applejack talked about how the buissness for the farm had been going atleast 60% better, Pinkie talked about the big Welcome to Ponyville party she had been hosting for the new residents, but Applejack and Rainbow Dash didn't understand anything as she succeded to talk so fast that it only took 10 seconds. Rainbow talked a little bit about her new moves in her tricktionary just as the other 3 arrived.
"Sup guys." Rainbow said to them as they got closer.
"Hello Rainbow, And hello to Applejack and Pinkie too." Twilight said happily as she stopped infront of Rainbow Dash. A loud wistle could be heard and everypony knew what that meant.
The train was arriving.
"Good heavens! That train looks alot stranger then the train that goes to Canterlot!" Rarity exclaimed. The train had a red and purple colour with a few white lines at the sides. It looked a bit more modern, but it still had a locomotive dragging the carts.
"Yes Rarity, this is a train from the Northern parts of Equestria. Its designed to handle up to -50 Degrees celsius while going in 230 Km/h. Its weight is abou-"
"Yeah yeah, lets go. Your lecture is going to make us miss our train." Rainbow said, interupting Twilights lecture. Twilight shoot a quick glare at Rainbow but followed the rest of her freinds as they boarded the train. They walked over to their cart and chosed their seats. Rarity sat beside fluttershy, Pinkie sat beside Applejack and Rainbow beside Twilight. After 10 minutes of traveling, Twilight decided to break the silence that was between her and Rainbow.
"So... Is your training going well?"
Rainbow looked at Twilight strangely, but turned away from her and decided to answer her question.
"Good i suppose..."
Twilight became unsatisfyed with the answer but decided to just let it go. After another 10 minutes of awkward silence, Twilight tried again.
"Have you made any new freinds at the Wondetbolt Academy?" Now Rainbow got really confused.
"Uhh... Twi, The Wonderbolt Acedemy was over a year ago..."
"I thought..."
Rainbow sighed deeply. She looked into Twilights eyes as she spoke.
"They don't want me in the Wonderbolts. Spitfire said so herself. It was something about Emotions from one of the team members... So.. I will not be a Wondetbolt untill that team member quits..."
A tear fell from Rainbows eye. This was a common thing during the last year. Rainbow had opened up. She was not hiding herself as much anymore. She actually showed her feelings. Not so much as she would need to show them, but she still showed them.
"And sadly... I know what it all is about. I know who it is. I know what it is, And i wish it could be diffrent."
Twilight was in shock at the moment. Rainbow Dash, The one and only Rainbow Dash had admitted feelings. Feelings for who? She might never know, but one thing was for sure; Rainbow had softened up.
"What?" Was all Twilight could say. She definenlty needed to find out more.
"I will tell you... But now, Is not the time Twilight. You know WHO it is, but you dont know him."
'Ok, She said HIM. I always thought...'
"And yes Twilight... Im not a Fillyfooler."
"We are arriving in Manehatten in 5 Minutes. Get your scarfs everypony!"
"Ok. We will talk about this later Rainbow. Okay?"
"No Twilight. I will talk to YOU when its time. And now, is not the time. Neither is later Today."
And with that, Rainbow left her seat and walked to the rest of the gang who was standing by the exit. Twilight couldn't stop thinking of the awkward conversation she just had with Rainbow, But she also thought of what she had said.
"I will talk to YOU when its time."
Twilight exited the train with her freinds and they all started walking to Manestream Forest.

What seemed to go just splendid
"Wooah."
The mane six had just arrived to the edge of their choise for their camping trip, Manestream forest. The forest was like a jungle. Trees were over 100 meters, birds sang and monkeys talked to eachother. It was magical.
The six mares walked into the forest and was immidiently struck by the moist in the air. It was also warm. Very warm.
"Oh no! Im sweating! Ladys are not supposed to be sweating!"
"Well, Y'all better get used to it. It ain't going to cool down untill night if Ah'm right." Applejack said as an replay towards Rarity's complaining.
"Applejack is right, If my calculations are correct, We are about 500 Kilometers south from Ponyville. And this might not sound as a very long distance, but then you are forgetting that the atmosp-" Twilight got cut off bt yRainbow who shuffed her hoof in her mouth.
"Twilight, We get it." Rainbow said. She removed her hoof out of Twilights mouth and walked on. Or rather Flied on. As the six mares walked further into Manestream forest, They came accross a small stream. They all jumped over the miniture river of water, one by one. Pinkie decided to play a joke as Rainbow flied over it. She jumped, Grabbed Rainbows tail, and dragged her away from the air, and down into the stream.
"GAAH!" With one quick move, Pinkie swinged Rainbow down into the warm water below them.
"Pinkie! Why did you that for?" Rainbow asked the hysterically laughing mare who was rolling around at the side of the stream. Twilight chuckled lightly and smiled at the 'troublemakers'.
"Come on now, we can't stand here all day." Twilight said as she turned around and started walking again. Pinkie finally stopped laughing and helped Rainbow out of the stream. After shaking most of the water out of her fur, Rainbow flied on.
After another ten minutes of walking, they found a small open area in the middle of the forest. In the middle, there was a small tree stump of an old oak. At the edge of the opening, a small stream had cold water running trough it.
"This seems to be perfect for our camp." Twilight said with a smile covering her muzzle.
"Well then, what are we waitin' for? Let's pack up!" Applejack said with excitement. They had three tents, that meant one tent for two ponies. The pairs were; Rarity and Fluttershy, Applejack and Pinkie Pie and then Twilight and Rainbow. As Twilight were helping Rainbow, she decided to ask Rainbow about what happened on the train.
"So... Rainbow, What really did you mean back at the train?" She asked. Twilight quickly regretted the decison of starting a conversation like that as she saw Rainbow's reaction. Dash stopped and looked into the ground. She sighed so painfully that Twilight got chills running down her spine.
"I... I-I don't wanna know." Rainbow muttered under her breath, but Twilight still heard her.
"Why?" She asked as calmly as possible. Rainbow looked up at Twilight and immidiently saw her eyes screaming affections and questioning.
"Y-You will find out... E-Eventually... But now... Is not the time Twi." Rainbow continued to fix the tent and Twilight decided to bring the subject up later when they were alone in the tent.
After setting up the tents, collecting wood and taking a quick dip in the lake that was nearby, It was starting to get dark. Fluttershy had already gone to bed and Rarity were considering it. Rainbow sittong on a log and where telling a ghost story about Colt the Ripper. A murdurer in the streets of Manehatten one hundered years ago.
"Just as she had made it around the corner... she saw a blade in a red aura.. and as she looked up from the blade she saw the face of... COLT THE RIPPER!"
Rarity fainted and Applejack hugged a rock who had been taken from the ground. Twilight fell backwards and Pinkie gasped as dramatically as she could.
"Colt the Ripper was not happy with his victim though, oh no. He died and his ghost is wandering the lands of Equestria... Looking for another kill."
Just as Rainbow finished her sentence, A large growl could be heard from the forest behind them. Four pair of yellow eyes stared at them.
"We have not been fed today..."

"We have not been fed..." A dark whisper sounded through the forest, making leaves fly around in the wind. Fluttershy had now woken up from her light slumber and Rarity was wide awake. The four ponies at the camping site looked into the shadows of the forest. Twilight looked around the camping site and noticed that something was off. And she knew exactly what that was.
"Where's Rainbow and Pinkie Pie?" She asked terrifyed as a loud giggle echoed through the forest, giving the ponies chills going up their spines. Twilight thought for a second. She realized...
"Show yourselfs!" Twilight shouted out all too knowing into the forest. Just as the previous giggle and the whisper, a shout echoed through the forest.
"What fun would that be now Dear Twilight?"
Everypony knew that voice. It belonged to someone they knew all too well. Someone who had destroyed it all. Almost. Just as Twilight were about to shoutn out the name, a loud roar echoed from the shadows.
Fluttershy had dug a hole and was burying herself, Rarity whore a expression that could not be explained. It was some kind of mix between Anger, Terror and... something.. Applejack stood and looked out in the forest, Searching for any movements that would accour. Twilight, Stood in the middle of the camping site. She watched the trees and shadows carefully, almost waiting for them to move.
"I know you're in there!" She shouted out. Quiet.
"Show yourself, entity!" She shouted out a second time. No answer.
Less then a second before she shouted out again, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie and Discord came out of the forest, laughing.
"Priceless!" Rainbow said while hoof-bumping Discord. Pinkie fell over on the bare cold dirt ground and started to laugh like only Pinkie can.
"You should have seen the looks on your faces! Its was hillarious!" Discord said while falling into another pit of laughter.
"Thanks Discord! Cya later?" Rainbow said while turning to Discord. Discord looked at her and hit sighed a little bit.
"Yes Rainbow, catch ya when ya get back!" Discord sweeped some tears from his eyes and cleared his throath. With a snap of his fingers, He teleported himself away. Rainbow slowly started to giggle again before she fell on her back and laughed for another minute. When she finally could open her eyes again, Pinkie were still laying on the ground, laughing. But Twilight on the other hand did not look very happy.
"Ehehh.." Rainbow laughed nervously. She watched Twilight's face soften up and soon enough, she was also rolling around in laughter. Rainbow caught up to the laughter quickly. Shortly after, Applejack, Rarity and Fluttershy joined too. The friends laughed as the moon climbed the sky slowly, creates on the surface, as it reached the top of the sky.
Rainbow Dash woke up in her sleeping bed, sweatty. She'd had another one of those.
After having them every night since her mothers death, she'd gotten used to waking up in this state but something... just didn't feel right. Her head was spinning as usual after waking up...
Her pulse was high as always...
And she had... Blood in her mouth?
Rainbow started to panic. The iron taste in her mouth and the red liquid who was dripping down on her chest was definently blood.
Rainbow sat up and looked around the tent only to see Twilight still fast asleep in her orange sleeping bag. Rainbow opened her mouth but quickly regretted it as blood ran out of it as fast as she opened it. Her fur on her chest became purple like when the blood ran down, but as more and more blood ran ourt it became red. As blood ran out of her mouth she became dizzy, and everything became blue. Just before she fell uncounsious, she could her Twilight calling her name.
"Is she going to be okay?"
"What in the name of Celestia's sun happend to her fur!"
"Twi, Do y'all have any idea of what happend to the gal'?"
"I... I think she's waking up!"
Rainbow Dash opened her eyes and saw her 5 friends standing over her. It was still night, so she couldn't have been out for so long. She tried to sit up but fell down into the ground again.
"Rainbow, Relax. Don't move." Twilight said, looking at the blue pegasus. Rainbow nodded weakly and laid back against ground. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, But even that was exhausting to do. Every breath she took was exhausting. It was like All her energy had been sucked out of her body. As she layed there, she tried to remember what had happened, but even thinking was too hard for her to do.
"Rainbow."
Rainbow opened her eyes slowly and looked at Twilight.
"Do you know what happened?" Twilight asked softly. Rainbow tried to speak up but couldn't. She laid there for over a minute before Twilight spoke up.
"I take that as a No then..." she sighed.
Rainbow laid there in silence before she finally found the energy to speak.
"T.. T-Twilight?" she whispered.
"Yes Rainbow?" Twilight answered. She looked at Rainbow who had her eyes closed.
"H-How did y-you know?"
"Know what?" Twilight asked in confusion.
"K-... K... K-Know that I-I was in... That kind of state?" Rainbow pressed out in between her lips.
Twilight smiled warmly.
"It's easy to notice when you get woken up by somepony falling hard into the floor while preatty much choaking." she answered to Rainbows quiestion. Rainbow opened her eyes and looked at Twilight.
"D-Do you know what h-happened to me?" Rainbow asked.
"No Rainbow, I don't. But you should get some sleep. You've lost alot of blood, and I think you will feel better after some hours of sleep. It is 2 in the morning after all." Twilight walked over to her sleeping bag and layed down on top of it.
"I will keep an eye on you, so don't worry. Nothing bad will happen while I'm here." Twilight said while dragging her blanket over her.
"Goodnight Rainbow, We will find out what happened tomorrow." Twilight said finally. But Rainbow didn't hear that since she had already fallen asleep and walked into the land of dreams once more.
