The Story of Princess Purple Rust
Chapter 4: The Coat
Previous ChapterA HORN!! But I was a pegasus! Well, I guess I was an alicorn now. I might tell Bubble, but not the others, they might try to break it, or pull of my wings so I wouldn't be an alicorn. Now THAT would hurt!
Looking around I saw that there was a blob of red on the nightstand. My fez! I was given a "H0W 2 M4K3 H4TS" kit, and it had red felt and a "H0W 2 M4K3 F3ZZ35" page. It was a little hard to read, with all the numbers and stuff, but I did my best, and I loved how it turned out. I put it on, covering my horn.

Princess Luna watched the young filly thu with her viewing magic. She watched the purple pony excitedly grab the fez, and put it on, but not where most ponies put their hats. As if... She was covering...
"Maybe, but.. does she.. really?" Luna muttered to herself.
"Luna? Are you okay?" asked a voice in the other room.
"We are fine, sister," Luna replied
"Okay then.. But your talking to yourself out loud again," Celestia said. "Are you still watching Purple Rust?"
"Yes, she's awake now."
"Good. So she knows her destiny? She better, you KNOW I hate casting coma-inducing-destiny-sharing-dreams!" Celestia replied.
"We think she does. She put on the fez as if she was covering her horn," said Luna with a sigh.
"Well, I did set the appointment. We are going to the the Ponyville Orphanage Monday the 2nd at, um let me see," said Celestia, looking at her watch. "Three PM."
"Good, good. We can talk to her. She can join the family!"
" Aunt Celestia," Celestia muttered to herself. "Got a nice ring to it." Clearing her throat she added, "Anything else new?"
"Well," said Luna, opening her magic viewing portal. "She checked out of the hospital, and she said she's going shopping before she heads back to the orphange."
"SHOPPING? Purple Rust SHOPPING? Haha, nice one Luna!"
"No. really, look," said Luna.
"Oh wow. Well, at least that jacket is cute," Celestia said with a laugh.

Purple flew into the coat shack.
"Purple Rust? I don't think I've ever seen YOU shopping!
"I.. Just... Want... A.. Purple.. Coat.. Lots of.. Pockets." she said, out of breath.
"You okay?" I asked.
"Ya, ya, I'm fine. Just not used to flying as fast as Rainbow Dash," she joked. "Ah, this one looks perfect. How much?" Purple said, throwing the vest on the counter.
"Uh, well that one's on clearance, so 2 bits." I replied.
"Wow, thanks!" said purple Rust happily. "I never buy clothes, so I don't even know if it's a good deal or not, but it sounds like one!" she said, throwing on the vest and placing her money on the desk. "SEE YA," She shouted, flying out the door.
I smiled. The bell rang and in troted Dashie.
"Hey, Dash," I said happily. "Can I help you?" (I loved my job as a clerk, and my boss told me to ask every other pony this.)
"Na, you seen Purple Rust? She wanted some flying tips," Rainbow said.
"Ah, she was here a bit ago. You just missed her. Bought a light purple coat and spend away like a bullet. I thought she already go flying tips from you!" I joked.
"Na, see you around tho!" Dash flew away gracefully, but fast.
"Ah, I see. PR wasn't that graceful," I muttered to myself.

"PURPLE RUST!" I called. 'Ah, fine. I'll go home then I thought, spinning around and flying up. As I landed on my porch, I saw a flash of purple. "Purple Rust? Were you waiting for me here?" I called out.
"Eeyup."
"Don't. That's Big Mac's thing, Purple,"
"WHATEVER, you gonna teach me how to fly or no?" Purple said, looking around. "Wow I never saw how big this place was. Cool house, Dashie!"
"Also a no. Only AJ and Pinke can call me that."
"FINE. What CAN I call you, then?" She asked.
"I'm joking, you can call me Dashie."
"Okay, great. Let's Fly," Purple called, flying away.
"Ah, kiddo, wait up!" I called with a laugh. "Oh wait, you don't have to. I'm faster than you!"
"WHATEVER!" Came the reply, from not too far above me.
"Meet me at the track," I called.
"When?"
"NOW!" I Shouted, flying away, my mane and tail blurring in a classic Rainbow Dash way. I smiled.

Exhausted, I walked home, ate dinner, and looked at the calender. It was Friday the 30, and my turn to mark of the day. Taking the post-It note from the wall and the green marker from the floor, I marked off the 30th, and wrote in on the 2nd 'Luna and Celestia visit' I hardly made it to the bed before sleep took me over. Dreams of the tips Dashie had told me, and practicing them filled my sleep-ladden mind.
