The Nightmare Night that Never Ends
"Come on Mommy we're gonna' be late! Hurry uuuuup!" said Twilight's son, Blink, who was only 7-years-old. He was dressed as a Timberwolf for what was supposed to be just another Nightmare Night.
"Just hold your horses little one we have to wait for daddy. Honey, you almost done?" Twilight said. Twilight had dressed up as Eris, Discord's 'sister' that lives in an alternate universe.
"Yeah, I'm just helping Spike get into his costume. This dragon has been growing lately; he's almost as tall as me now," said Twilight's husband, Flare Blitz, who was a typical white and black zebra with the exception of his spiky mane and tail. He was dressed as one of Luna's night guards for the occasion.
When Spike got down stairs he was in a paladin costume. "Wow Spike, you're sure to get Rarity now," Twilight said with a chuckle.
Spike gave Twilight a smug look at that.
"Your really think-" he began.
"Come on mommy lets gooooo! Now, now now now now now!" Blink interrupted.
"Let's start heading out Flare, Blink is getting restless."
"Sure thing hon, let's go, Blink," Flare said.
When they got outside they noticed that nopony was outside. They thought it was strange but didn't give it much thought, so they started going from house to house knocking on door to door. They started to get worried when nopony answered their doors. When they reached Sugarcube Corner, Twilight and Flare saw, much to their relief, that a large group of ponies were gathered inside.
Of course, everypony knows Pinkie Pie gives out the best candy, Twilight thought to herself.
They started to walk up when they noticed something didn't seem right. They noticed it was all boarded up. Twilight, Flare, and Spike looked through the window while Blink was trying, and failing, to look inside by jumping up and down. To their horror, they saw a pony in the back that was missing a hoof and an ear, and another one was missing both eyes. Even worse, they realized it was Mr. and Mrs. Cake.
"Oh sweet Celestia," Twilight gasped, tears forming in her eyes, "They're zomponies."
"What going on, Mommy?" Blink asked, looking up at Twilight.
"Nothing, Honey. Flare, we need to find help, Spike, you know what to do."
At the sound of their names, both of them snapped of their dazes of staring at the former couple. Spike immediately took out a quill and a piece of paper he always kept on him for emergencies. He wrote a quick letter explaining the details and blew his green fire on it, hoping for a quick response.
Before they could move a single step, they heard a deep throat-ed moan coming from a nearby ally. They all stared as a figure stepped out of the shadows. It was Colgate, or what used to be Colgate, in the tattered remains of her toothbrush costume. Her body was covered in a series of heavily bleeding wounds, most likely from where other zomponies had torn apart at her. The worst thing about her appearance was the lack of either of her lips, ironically giving a full view of her gums and pearly white teeth.
Blink let out an ear splitting scream and started crying 'monster.' Twilight tried to calm her son but it was too late. Colgate turned her attention to them and charged, wailing the whole way. Twilight hugged Blink protectively while Flare stood in front of them, ready to protect his family. Just before Colgate could reach them, Spike charged forward, thrusting his sword into her right eye and into her brain, causing her to fall and lay still. Spike let go of his sword and fell to his knees, holding himself and quivering.
"Spike?" Twilight whispered.
"I went all out this year, Twilight. That sword was more than just for show," he laughed, shakily. His laugh quickly turned into sobs at what he had just done. Flare was quick to wrap him in a hug and tried to comfort him.
"It's alright Spike, she was already dead," he whispered.
"I-I know, but s-still..."
"It's okay, you were just trying to protect your family."
"...thanks, Dad."
The moment was ruined by the sound of multiple moans coming from all around them. Thinking quickly, Spike went to Colgate's prone form to retrieve his sword. Hesitantly, he put one foot on her head and grabbed the hilt of his sword with both his claws. "Sorry about this, Colgate," he whispered and pulled, freeing his sword. At that moment, other zomponies, most in tattered costumes, began to appear on the road. They quickly took notice of Twilight and her family.
"Everypony, run!" Twilight screamed, levitating Blink onto her back before running along with Flare Blitz and Spike.
As they ran they noticed more zomponies coming out of every corner. They took a turn into an ally which lead to a dead end. They knew their end was coming soon. So they waited for the longest time until they didn't hear anything. They started to gather themselves Twilight coddling Blink and Flare, Spike.
"D-d-do you think I had to kill her Dad," the dragon said, head down tears streaming down his face.
"Yeah Spike, if you didn't we wouldn't be here right now."
"Mommy, what happened to Colgate?" asked the frightened zebracorn
"I don't know."
They were about to leave when they heard a voice.
"Twilight, Twilight, TWILIGHT! Up here."
"Up where?"
"Right above you silly-filly."
Right above Twilight was the pony of parties.The pink, plushy, party planner pony herself, Pinkie Pie.
"PINKIE! Do you have any idea whats going on here?."
"No, but all I know for certain is that zomponies have taken over Ponyville and the only survivors I know of are your family, AJ, Rainbow, Rarity, Fluttershy, and me. Sweetie Belle, Applebloom, and Scootaloo went off to get candy by themselves, so we don't know where they are. Big Mac went looking for them," replied the pink colored pony.
"Where is everypony?"
"Taking shelter at Sweet Apple Acres." Pinkie said as she jumped from the roof into a garbage can.
"We have to hurry or else those things will find us," said Spike
"Oh don't worry about the zomponies, they're gone."
"Wait what happened to the zomponies?"
"Oh I lead them away when you ran past the first stall in the market."
"Thank you, Pinkie."
"You're welcome!"
Twilight flew ahead with Blink on her back to Sweet Apple Acres while Pinkie, Spike, and Flare galloped there.

When the Cutie Mark Crusaders realized what was going on, they ran to Twilight's library thinking she would know what to do. They barely managed to make it there alive. When they did make it and realized nopony was there, they barricaded themselves in and decided to wait for help. They took off their costumes, except Scootaloo, who kept the scarf from her costume on.
"Are y'all alright, Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo?"
"Yeah," the orange pony said.
"I'm fine," Sweetie Belle said.
"That's good. First what I need y'all to do is find something we can use against them critters out there," said the southern apple filly.
After about an hour of looking they found a broom stick, some kitchen knives, and a baseball bat.
"Why would Twilight keep a baseball bat?" asked Sweetie Belle.
"Okay we have to keep watch who'll take the first shift," Applebloom said, ignoring the question.
"I will," Scootaloo said.
"Okay then, its settled. Scoots you take the first watch."
"Okay, you two get some rest I'll wake you up when in an hour or so," she replied as the unicorn and the earth pony laid down.
...
Applebloom was woken up when she heard Sweetie Belle screaming.
"Scootaloo, stop! Applebloom, help me!" Sweetie Belle said as Scootaloo tried to bite her.
"Sweet Celestia!" Applebloom screamed. Applebloom started looking until she found the bat. She grabbed it with her mouth and ran towards Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle. When she was standing over them, she hesitated and tried reasoning with Scootaloo. "Scootaloo, please stop! Don't make me do this!" That hesitation turned out to be a mistake as Scootaloo sunk her teeth into Sweetie Belle's shoulder, making her let out a pained scream. Applebloom lost it. She bashed Scootaloo in the side of the head, knocking her off Sweetie Belle. When Scootaloo tried to get up, Applebloom raised the bat and brought it down on her head, again, and again, and again. When she was done, half of Scootaloo's head was a bloody pulp. After several minutes, she had realized what she had done, she dropped the bat and started crying over the body of her dead friend. When she calmed down enough she went over to check on Sweetie Belle.
"Are you alright?"
"No. No I'm not," she replied shakily.
"What do you mean?"
"I was bitten."
"No yer' just yankin' mai' chain."
"Quit lying to yourself, you saw it happen."
"S-Sweetie Belle, y-you're gonna be-"
"NO I'M NOT. I'M GOING TO END UP LIKE SCOOTALOO!" She screamed at the top of her lungs. She then began to sob, "Please, kill me."
Applebloom reeled back in shock. "No, I won't."
"You have to."
"I-I-I can't"
"YOU HAVE TOO!"
"I CAN'T LOSE ANOTHER FRIEND!"
"AND I DON'T WANT HURT YOU!"
That made Applebloom go quiet.
Sweetie Belle continued, "I don't want to end up like them, I don't want to end up a monster, the only way to prevent that is if you stop crying about it and end it!"
Applebloom ran up and hugged Sweetie Belle, begging her not to make her do it. Sweetie just held her, singing 'Hush Now, Quiet Now.' After they held each other for the longest time, Applebloom looked at her friend picked up the bat. She said one last thing to Sweetie before ending her life.
"I'm so sorry."
Sweetie looked up at Applebloom and whispered, "Don't be, it's not your fault."
Applebloom raised the bat over her head, and using all the earth pony strength she could muster, brought it down on Sweetie Belle's head.
CRACK!
Thud.
After she was done she sat down and cried, holding Sweetie Belle's body. After about a minute of crying she heard a noise.
SCRAPE! SCRAPE! SCRAPE!
She ran to the window and her brother, Big Mac. He was dragging one of the scythes from their barn behind him. He was covered with multiple bite marks, in some places the flesh was torn so bad you could see muscle. He was one of them, a zompony New tears formed in her eyes, Oh Big Mac, not you too!
Unlike the other zomponies, however, his eyes were glowing red and full of rage.
She was running around frantically knowing that Big Mac would break in eventually. She was searching for someplace to hide until she had no choice but to hide in closet that Twilight kept her very little supply of clothes in.
THUD, THUD, THUD, CRASH! Big Mac had broken through the front door.
He noticed Sweetie Belle's fresh corpse and walked over to it. He dropped his scythe and proceeded to gorge himself on her corpse.
Applebloom peeked out through the slightly ajar door and had to stop herself from vomiting. She decided that staying in the library would be a mistake and proceeded to open the closet door and try to sneak out while her brother's back was turned. Just before she made it to the broken front door, one of the floor boards creaked. She slowly turned around and looked straight into the eyes of her brother who had already picked up the scythe. She bolted outside, hearing the heavy hoofsteps behind her. She needed to get away before her own brother cut her up. Applejack, Granny Smith, please be alright.
...
Back at Sweet Apple Acres, Twilight is telling them about what happened to them.
"So that's when we found Pinkie in the ally."
"Well I'm glad you're okay, especially my little Spiky-Wikey," said Rarity, holding Spike who was still traumatized after the whole ordeal. "We still need go out there and look for our sisters!" she cried.
"Don't worry Rarity, Big Macintosh is already out there lookin' for 'em along with Rainbow. If anypony can handle those monsters, it'd be him and besides, Rainbow can out fly anythin', specially a bunch a stupid, flying corpses. We'll go searchin' soon enough ourselves, but first, we have ta make sure the farmhouse is secure before searchin' for them.," said Applejack. Rarity nodded in agreement.
Fluttershy and Pinkie were in a corner where Pinkie was hugging Fluttershy, trying to comfort her. "She ate all of them. Derpy ate all of them. A-Angel..." Fluttershy buried her face into Pinkie's shoulder and cried her heart out.
On the couch, Twilight and Flare were trying to reassure their son everything was alright. "Mommy, Daddy, why is everypony out there a monster?" The poor colt was shivering in fear.
"There not, Blink. This is just a very bad dream. When you wake up, it'll be all over," Twilight told her son. After finally managing to get him to go to sleep, she, along with her friends and husband, began fortifying the Apple Family house. They got tools from the shed that they could use as weapons and used the spare planks of wood to board up the house. Just as they finished, Rainbow Dash came back.
"Uh guys, I hate to tell you this, but I checked around the town and couldn't spot any of them. Also, I couldn't find Big Mac. We split up to cover more ground, but I haven't seen him since. There's also about a dozen of them coming this way right now!" Rainbow told them.
"Quick everypony! Grab a weapon."

The Nightmare Night that Never Ends
Blink was awoken to a thudding noise. Zomponies were pounding at the windows trying to get to their next meal, having a look of hunger in their eyes. One of them in particular caught Blinks eye. He ran up to the window to get a closer look to what was once his best friend, Rumble. Even though Rumble was a several years older, he always looked up to him like a brother. He gasped and ran up to his mother and said with tears welling up in his eyes.
"*Sniff* M-mommy it's Rumble."
"It's not Rumble honey it's one of them now," she said, before mentally berating herself for being so blunt. Blink started to bawl, he crying seemed to make the zomponies aggressive in trying to get in.
"Twilight why'd y'all go and make the youngin' cry like that!"
"I'm sorry I wasn't thinking," said the lavender pony. "Blink, I'm sorry, come here," she reached out to her son, wanting to wrap him in a hug.
"No! I'm going to go save my friend!" he declared before running up to the door and started pulling off the barricades with his magic. Most foals his age would have difficulty lifting a book. However, Blink inherited his mother's natural talent.
"Blink, stop!" Twilight said, trying to use her own magic to put the barricades back up. It was to late, the barricade had weakened enough to allow the zomponies to break through. Twilight levitated Blink out of the way just before Rumble could bite him. She shot a magical blast at the one who dared to try to hurt her son, making its head explode. All the ponies started running except for Flare who said.
"Go, I'll try and hold them off for a little bit!"
"But Flare, you'll-"
"GO! You need to make sure our son is safe."
Twilight quickly kissed her husband before she levitated Blink and put him on her back and they ran out the back door with the rest of there friends. During their mad dash, Twilight took a few pot shots at lone zomponies, trying to take out some of her frustration.They ran for several minutes until they reached the Cutie Marks Crusaders' Clubhouse; they were far enough from the zomponies that they could catch their breaths for a little bit. Twilight collapsed on the ground and started crying uncontrollably. Blink went up to his mother and wrapped his hooves around her neck, crying as well. He was scared, confused, and upset that his mother was crying. Her friends could only stand by and let her grieve for a little while. After a few minutes, Applejack came up to them.
"Blink, why don't y'all go talk with Fluttershy for a little bit," she said.
"But mommy-" he started.
"Don't worry, Ah'll make sure she's okay."
Blink nodded, gave Twilight a squeeze before letting go and slowly making his way over to Fluttershy. Applejack walked over to Twilight and wrapped her hooves around her friend, causing a fresh wave of tears to spring forth from the purple alicorn.
"Ah'm sorry, Twi, Ah'm truly sorry."
"It's not your fault, Applejack," Twilight managed to say, "it's these damned zomponies."
"Twi, this may not be the best time, but we gotta keep movin'."
"I didn't even get the chance to tell him," she continued to sob.
"Tell him what, Sugarcube?"
"I'm pregnant."
Everypony gasped in shock.
"Twilight, Ah'm so sorry, but we gotta-" Applejack was interrupted by the sounds of moaning and groaning. Each one of the ponies were looking around to see where the source of the noise was, but it was impossible to tell. That was until Fluttershy screamed. They all turned to the yellow mare who was looking up in horror. When they looked up, they saw a whole hoard of pegasi zomponies flying towards them. Twilight took notice of the grey pony who was leading the hoard. Twilight immediately recognized the zompony as Derpy. Derpy began to pick up speed, anticipating her next meal. A mach cone began to form around her, charging at the group of survivors. She missed them by a mile, but created a shock wave like Rainbow,s sonic rainboom, except this one was blood red. Twilight and all her friends were knocked of their hooves by the shock wave.
Fortunately, nopony was hurt, just stunned. When they turned their heads to see where Derpy had crashed their jaws dropped. Derpy had toppled over the tree she had crashed into and proceeded to stand back up, completely unharmed. "That's just not possible," Twilight whispered. They started to run to the left of where Derpy was, but were stopped by a horn lodging itself in a tree in front of them. They turned their heads towards the direction of where the horn came from; a hoard of unicorn zomponies had joined the party. At the front of the hoard was Sparkler, who had a hole where her horn should be. A new one then twisted itself out of her head, except it was a pale as bone. The other unicorn zomponies then lowered their heads and fired a barrage of horns.
"Everypony, get behind me now!" Twilight shouted to her friends. They quickly got behind Twilight before she threw up a shield. Instead of bouncing off the shield, the horns lodged themselves into the shield, forming cracks in it. Crap, the shield won't hold for long. Celestia, help us. "On my signal everypony dodge! Ready! 3, 2, 1, now!" Twilight used her magic to teleport Blink and herself while her friends jumped out of the way of the horns.
Once everpony was behind the trees, Rainbow Dash yelled, "What the hay, Twilight?! Why didn't you teleport the rest of us?! You're an alicorn for crying out loud!"
"Rainbow, I may be an alicorn now, but my new powers haven't matured yet," Twilight calmly explained, "I'm only slightly more powerful than I was before and I'm trying to conserve as much magic as I can until we really need it."
Rainbow Dash looked away in embarrassment. "Sorry Twilight, I shouldn't have snapped at you like that."
"It's alright, Rainbow. Everypony, let's head back to town and hold up at the library. I might be able to use my lab equipment to find a way to cure everypony." The others nodded in agreement and began to gallop through the trees toward town.
...
When they reached the outskirts of Ponyville, they ducked behind some buildings to avoid being seen. "Alright everypony," Twilight began, "let's try to do this quietly."
"Help, anypony!"
Applejack's ears perked up at the sound of the voice..
"Applebloom!" Applejack ran towards where she had heard the scream of her sister with the others lagging behind her, trying to call her back.
They were turning corner to corner past every house until they saw Applebloom on the ground about to be sliced in half by her big brother. Applejack sprinted forward and tackled Big Mac, keeping her little sister safe.Big Mac got back up and charged towards Applejack. Applejack dodged her big brother's attack easily. Big Mac then began to swing his scythe wildly at Applejack. Applejack dodged but tripped on a rock, hitting her head on the ground. Big Mac raised his scythe in front of Applejack was too dazed to do anything, but Rainbow flew to her rescue. She hit Big Mac into a building smashing through a wall. She thought he had been dealt with and turned around to help Applejack. However, she failed to notice Big Mac get up unscathed. Rainbow turned around too late. She tried to dodge, but the scythe managed to cut her right wing off.
"Bucking Tartarus!" Rainbow curled up into a ball of agony. It was like the time when she broke her wings, except the pain was increased a hundred fold. Big Mac raised his scythe again to deliver the killing blow.
"Time to take care of this, Pinkie Pie style."
Out of nowhere, Pinkie pulled out her party cannon, aimed it at Big Mac, and fired her cannon, sending Big Mac flying through the wall of the same building. Big Mac tried to get up again, but the debris he was trapped under was almost to heavy to lift; he would be trapped for several minutes, giving Twilight and her friends time to escape.
Twilight's friends, however, were in complete disarray. Applejack and Applebloom were hugging each other, not even noticing what was going on around them, Rainbow was muttering incoherently, trying to put her dismembered wing back on as if it would do something, Fluttershy and Rarity were hugging each other and crying, Pinkie's mane had gone flat and she was just staring off into space, and Blink was clutching his mother's leg, trying to wake up from this nightmare. She had had enough. Twilight's horn began to glow and in a flash of light, she along with her son and friends, were gone.
