Catastrophe in Minetown

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

The sun was high in Minetown as John stretched himself with a big yawn. Last night, he had gotten the most sleep than he had gotten in a long time, so he  was feeling pretty good. He stepped out of bed and walked over to the kitchen for some breakfast. In the fridge, he found a nice, juicy cut of uncooked pork waiting for him. He took it out, put it in the furnace to cook, and walked over to the bookshelf to read as he waited for the most important meal of the day.

It was then that a certain book caught John's eye. It was a dusty old book that looked like it must have been written in the first few years of Minecraftian civilization. It was Minecraftian Lore, one of the rarest books in the modern world. John was surprised, as there was only three copies known to have survived the merciless grasp of time.

"Minecraftian Lore, huh?"

John sat down with the ancient tome and opened it up. He read of many fascinating creatures. Dragons, centaurs, hydras, and spiders that were taller than Endermen (which are the tallest neutral mobs, being three blocks tall). What really interested John, though, was the pegasus. The majestic winged horse of Minecraftia.

John knew quite a bit about pegasi, as there were many books written about the mysterious equines. In fact, when he was a child, John saw a dead pegasus in his birth town. A miner had been hunting for cows to bring back to the town when he saw a horse. It was fatally wounded, so it wouldn't have lived much longer on its own. To stop it's suffering, he put it out of its misery by shooting it in the head with his bow. When he got closer, he noticed that this "horse" wasn't really a horse. It had wings, which was not a natural feature for horses to have. The miner abandoned his cow hunt to bring the pegasus back to the town for all to see, and the rest was history.

Soon enough, the savory smell of cooked pork chops wafted through the suite, eniticing John's stomach. He took his breakfast out of the furnace and sat down to eat. As he chewed his meat, he came up with an idea of what he should do that day.

A pegasus hunt. It was perfect! Not only would he get to see a live pegasus in all it's glory, but the blood and feathers of a pegasus were said to be extremely powerful potion ingredients. They were the main ingredients for an immortality potion and an eternal invincibility potion. If I could brew both of those, John thought, I would not only live forever, but it would be impossible for me to take any damage...

That did it. Right away, he began to prepare for his journey. He started by cooking some pork in his furnace. As it cooked, John made some diamond tools and armor, then made his way to his enchanting table to enchant his armor, which he was wearing. He opened his spell book, found the perfect spell, and began the ritual. However, he coughed in the middle of his chant...

"Come, children of the night! Bless me with your everlasting charm of e- (HACK!)quine form. Bring to me the power of my desire," he paused for two seconds to pull out two chicken feathers and place them on his enchanting table.

"Give to me the power of my offering! Stoupat do nebe!"

A blinding flash of light enveloped John as he completed the chant. Brilliant swirls of multicolored light twisted around the miner. He felt searing pain all over his body; as if he was being torn up piece by piece very slowly while boiling in lava.  As he screamed, he knew something had gone terribly wrong. Then everything went black.
