Dinky Whooves: A Wonderful Thing

Sparkler sat nervously next to her father. She wriggled in her chair and shuffled her hooves on the ground.Today was the day her new baby sister was to be born. What would she be like? Would she be a unicorn like me? A pegasus like mom? Or a earth pony like dad? Questions zipped through her head. She was so unfocused that she did not even hear her dad say. "Are you ok, Sparkler?" Sparkler looked drained and had such a blank expression on her face that anyone would wonder what was going on in her mind. "Sparkler?" the Doctor asked again. Sparkler turned her head to look at him. "Sorry." she whispered. "Sparkler, whats the matter?" Her father asked, "You're about to have a baby sister! Arn't you excited?" Sparkler sighed and stared and her feet. "I just don't want you and mom to be obsessing over her and not me." she said. The Doctor gave a chuckle. "That's what all of this is about?" he said, "Well, you know that that's not true. We love you no matter what. It may seem for a little that we are not loving you, but that is only because we are so busy with the baby. But we love you just the same as we always have."

"Thanks, dad." Replied Sparkler. "It's nice to talk with you."

"Good talking to you too, my dear." he replied.

"Dad?" Sparkler asked.

"Yes?"

"What do you think my cutie mark will be?"

There was a pause.

"Well, what do you think?"

"I don't know. I just don't know what I am good at."

"You are good at so many things, Sparkler. You just have to focus on what you already can do and then you-"

"Mr. Whooves!" Said the nurse. "You may come in now."

The two took a deep breath and hurried inside to see the new baby.
