                                                                              How It Began

                               Chapter 1

It was a typical summer day in Ponyville. Twilight was studying, Applejack was tending the apple orchard, Rainbow Dash was watching the weather, Fluttershy was taking care of the animals, Rarity was sewing her dresses and Pinkie Pie was working at sugar cube. All was well a group of three young fillies were leaving school to begin another day finding out what their special talent in life was.

“Okay girls,” Apple Bloom began “What do y’all reckon we do t’day to get our cutiemarks.”

“Ooh Ooh how about we try being cutiemark crusader gardeners! I’m sure Golden Harvest wont mind if we garden her carrot fields!” Sweetiebelle suggested.

“Ugh!” moaned Scootaloo “Gardening is SO boring! All you do is put seeds in a hole, water them and wait forever for them to grow.”

“Well mah special talent could be gardenin somethin other than apple trees.” Apple Bloom stated.

“Fine whatever but let’s get this over with.” Scootaloo groaned.

“Yay!” Exclaimed Sweetie Belle.

“Cutiemark Crusader gardeners!” the three yelled in unision.

The three fillies began to walk to a nearby scooter with a wagon attatched when in a quick flash something flew at full speed right onto Scootaloo.

“Hey!” Scootaloo began “Why don’t you watch where you’re going nex..” Scootaloo trailed off as she looked up to see a young colt gray pegasus hovering above her.

“Oh my gosh I’m so sorry Scootaloo I didn’t see you there, are you alright.” The young Pegasus apologized

“Yeah, I’m fine Rumble,” Scootaloo began confidently “Why wouldn’t I be? I’m not the student of the most awesome pony in Equestria for nothing,” Scootaloo boast.

“Well that’s good I was just on my way to meet Pipsqueak and Featherweight at Ponyville Park. I didn’t mean to run into you,” Rumble said.

“He’ya Rumble.” Apple Bloom introduced

“Hi Rumble.” Sweetie Belle chimed in.

“Hi Apple Bloom, hi Sweetie Belle I’d love to stay and chat but I’ve got get going. Sorry again for running into you Scootaloo. Well I’ll see you guys later, bye.”Rumble said before taking off to visit his friends.

“Bye Rumble!” Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom called out in unison.

“Alright girls, let’s go,” Scootaloo said as she strapped on her helmet and got her scooter.

The two other fillies looked at each other with knowing smiles as the got into the basket attatched to Scootaloo’scooter.

“So...” Apple Bloom started as Scootaloo buzzed her wings and began to pull the trio to Golden Harvest’s farm. “You sure did try to act all tough like when you were talkin to Rumble.” Apple Bloom pointed out in a suspicious tone.

Scootaloos heartbeat began to quicken as she started to realize where this conversation was headed.

“Yeah Scootaloo what was up with that? It looked you were trying to impress him.” Sweetie Belle stated.

“Ya know if ah didn’t know any better I’d reckon ya had a crush on him.”

Scootaloo came to sudden screething hault as she turned around to look at both of the young fillies in her wagon.

“NO!” Scootaloo yelled. “I do not have a crush on Rumble! I’m not into that mushy love stuff anyways. Plus Rumbles not even half as cool or awesome as I am.” Scootaloo protested.

“But he’s one of the most popular colts in school and he’s really cute.” Sweetie Belle added.

“No, just… no.” Scootaloo said as she started up her wings and began to move forward again.

Scootaloo could hear Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle giggling in the back wagon. Scootaloo merely rolled her eyes and moved towards Golden Harvest’s farm and brought her closer to the doom that awaited her.

                                               Mean While At Ponyville library

“Spike, Spike!” A lavender mare who had recently became a princess called to her number one assistant as she trotted down the stairs to give a new list of aarons for the baby dragon to run for her.

“Up here Twilight!” The young purple dragon called out as he tried to balance himself on a stack of books tall enough so he could reach the top shelf to organize and clean the row of books so he could finish his daily chores and go about his daily business.

“Spike have you seen my book on germs, fungi and bac-” Twilight trailed off as she saw the book she was looking for was in the stack of books Spike was balancing on.

Seeing the book, she levitated it from within the stack of balanced books causing the books to become unbalanced and topple over causing spike to fall face first to the ground.

“Spike stop playing around, I have a list of aarons I need you to get done before sundown.”Twilight said in annoyed tone of voice

Spike got up, dusted himself up and snorted as a thin layer of black smoke escaped his nose. Twilight levitated a scroll with a list of about twenty things for spike to do from getting groceries to visiting friends. Spike sighed as he took the list of aarons and departed to the door until just when he was about to leave he belched out a bright green fire from his mouth as scroll formed right in front of him and dropped into his hands.

“Hey Twi you got a letter from the princ- ugh!” Spike flew back right onto the door as Twilight levitated and unrolled the scroll in front of her as she read it aloud.

It seems a matter of concern has arose that could spell trouble for a large amount of ponies. Two Villages on the northern end of the Equestrian border have broken into a large disagreement. A river that separates the two villages to the east and west of sides of the river is being disputed over. The west village is the Zebra Village of Stripefield and the east village is the earthpony village of Hoofton. A special plant that grows at  the base of the river has special healing abilities and the two villages can’t come to an agreement. If there is no compromise a civil battle could break out putting many ponies in jeopardy. I trust that you and your friends can solve the issue.

Dear Princess Celestia

“Oh my, that sounds serious. Spike take the day off I have to get everyone so we can go settle the dispute for the princess.” Twilight and Spike walked out the library as Spike closed the door behind them. ‘Okay Spike I’ll try to be home by nightfall. Please Don’t get into any trouble, okay.”

Spike nodded his head and said “I’ll be fine Twilight go do what you have to do for the princess; nothing bad is going to happen.

Twilight gave spike a warm smile and brought him under her wing. Spike blushed when twilight removed her wing and teleported to go get her friends leaving Spike to wonder what he’s going to today Little did they know that a time of great pain and chaos was upon them and all of equestrian.
