Barzano has had a fine life as an astronomer on Mount Silver, but ever since his brother left for the guard, Barzano's had no visitors, except for the occasional mail call. However, one day, a mare from the frontier service shows up, bringing him on an adventure of a lifetime, which quickly turns into a survival situation as things go bad.
