Chapter 1: the apocalypse

Previous Chapter

Ever since those missiles containing element 115 hit the earth everything had been a literal living hell. The initial explosion caused anyone nearby to disintegrate immediately, but soon the areas around where the missiles hit started to cause perfectly healthy people to get sick, have fits of uncontrollability and eventually becoming a rotting walking corpse. Their eyes glowed dark blue yet were still fluorescent.

At first only a few thousand people were affected but the numbers soon grew quickly to the hundred thousands. After a few weeks of the apocalypse the numbers hit the million mark and kept growing.

However many zombies wandered the earth there were still plenty of survivors. But each survivor knew that one day they too would succumb to the sickness. All they could do was fight.

Strangely enough strange chalk drawings of weapons appeared which allowed anyone to receive the weapon drawn. Though they still costed them, but not with money. Some of the survivors found out that the more zombies they killed the more "points" they received which they could use to buy weapons. In addition to the drawings strange soda machines appeared which allowed the consumer to obtain certain powers. The cause or reason for these strange things were unknown but the survivors just thought of it as help to win the fight against the undead.

Little did they know that the very controller of the the zombies was about to play a sick twisted game, and they all were playing.

John Dempsey was just a normal teenager. Although many called him a prodigy ever since he was young he never thought highly of himself. He still knew however that he was extraordinarily good with mechanics and inventing. He learnt all that he knew from his father who strangely enough was a defense attorney that loved to tinker with parts of any kind of contraption he could find. How he ended up as a lawyer will always be a mystery.

His family on his fathers side may have been all lawyers but on his mothers side they all worked and took care of an old diner that had been with the family for at least fifty years. This was the first place John was able to get a summer job as it was owned by his family.

The morning of the apocalypse had been troublesome for John for his mother, father and brothers and sisters were in a car accident. He was devastated but at the same time he knew that if he just stood there and mourned the loss of his family he would surely become one with the walking corpses. So he boarded up the old diner and found every part he could find to come up with inventions that cold help keep the local zombie population down.

"I really miss my family." He said to himself one day, realizing that he hadn't thought about them much after the apocalypse had begun.

Later that day he went outside to fix the power grid for the electric fence and pretty much everything else it powered. He grumbled to himself as he fried the whole darn thing. "I will have to go into town and search everywhere for a new power grid," he thought to himself.
He had met a number of survivors when he went into town and they seemed quite nice but he hadn't received any radio signals from their radios so he assumed the worst.

Just as soon as he reached the town he realized his mistake as hundreds of dark blue eyes looked up at him. He bolted as fast as he could down the street. He dodged between the alleys and found himself trapped. He shut his eyes and prepared for his doom but instead of hearing his own screams and flesh being torn apart he heard a distinct horn of a bus.

Many angry growls were heard as sounds of guns firing made it clear that there were more survivors. He had just hoped they weren't looters. After the sounds of growls and machine gun fire died down he decided to risk it and get out of the alley.
As soon as he slowly walked out he could clearly see who saved him. His mouth dropped nearly hitting the ground as he realized who his rescuers were.

He couldn't believe his eyes, they were his friends from school."Ed, Sam, w-what are you guys doing here? I thought you were dead." Said a very startled John. "Nice to see you too." Said Ed. He was johns best friend from kindergarten all the way through tenth grade.

He was slightly smaller than John which is a reasonable height considering John was the tallest in his school. Ed had freckles red hair and was obsessed with certain types of science which no one knew because when Ed talks about science he usually makes no sense. Samantha or Sam as they called her was the captain of pretty much every sport in the school. Despite this fact she still hung out with the other two even though the rest of the school saw them as nerds or geeks.

Sam loved to play video games, in fact she was better that John and Jim combined and never let them hear the end of it. Even though she bragged a lot and was good at everything the two boys still liked to hang around her. She also had a crazy side to her, which was usually unlocked by having too much sugar.

"I sure am glad to see you," John said, "but I just want to know how you guys found me and how you guys escaped death." Before Jim could answer Sam blurted out the answers to john's questions. " we stuck with a survival group for most of the time until we found out that they were a bunch of psyco bandits that would do anything for their own survival even kill friends and family. " Ed decided to finish the rest of the story because Sam had run out of breath from saying the whole sentence in one go. " we stole their bus and tried to escape the undead but they were just too persistent. We almost got cornered if it wasn't for the fact that they were going for you. Once we knew for sure that there was a survivor we ran as quick as we could and saved you just in time." "How did you guys get those awesome weapons." Asked John. " you just walk up to a chalk drawing of a weapon like the one over there and pull out a weapon."Replied Sam. "no idea how it works....but it does."

John went over to a drawing and pulled out what it said to be an AK47-u. I can now fully protect myself from the undead, he thought. It wasn't long after that when they heard a voice that would surely give them nightmares for years to come. " I want to play a game." The voice said in a whisper. "let's play hide and seek. You can hide while I find you." The three friends looked at each other, clearly all in fear.

"I found you," said the voice "I win, you loose...your lives." There was demonic laughter as a swarm of hundreds of zombies moved in for the kill. Was this all just a sick twisted game? thought John.

Just that very moment a bright flash of light appeared. "Move to the light if you want to live." Said a new voice. "Why should we trust you?" Questioned Sam. "It's either teleport to safety or stay and become the undead's next meal." The voice said in return. They looked at each other and nodded. They moved into the light and for a moment everything flashed purple.

As soon as the nauseating teleportation process ended the three friends were left looking at six two dimensional looking creatures. "W-w-what are you?" Asked Ed who had somehow worked up enough courage. "I am princess twilight sparkle," said the closest creature to Jim. "And I need your help. Together we can save your earth from the zombies.

Author's Note

Hello everybody how you doin? Here is the first actual chapter of the story. The way I write has changed somehow, so if the prologue seems different than this chapter it's because I rewrote it from the original and I got too lazy to rewrite this one. But I really do need to write more chapters because apparently people like this story (I'm not going to complain XD ) anyway see ya on the next chapter.
