Chapters A new princess is arriving! (Not Twilight)
Bright morning sunlight poured through Twilight Sparkle's window. She rubbed her eyes with her hooves and groggily got out of bed. Her assistant, Spike, was still snoring away. The unicorn shook her head, grinning at the same time. Spike will always be Spike! She trotted down the stairs to her library to have breakfast. It might be weird to have breakfast in your own library, but to Twilight Sparkle, it was as normal as reading!
When she reached, the mare saw a piece of paper lying on her wooden floor. She picked it up with her mouth and placed it on the table. She flipped over the flap, and inside was a piece of paper. It read:
Dear Twilight Sparkle,
the princesses are holding a meeting at the royal palace. Please arrive at one o'clock sharp. I trust you not to be tardy like the last time!
Sincerely, Princess Celestia.
Twilight gasped. Princess Celestia only held important meetings at four in the afternoon! Though Twilight couldn't understand her strange schedule,but she certainly did not understand why her mentor would want to hold it earlier. At that time, Spike came running down the stairs. " Twilight! I'm so sorry! I forgot to set my alarm, and that's why breakfast was not on the table! Again, so sorry!" he spoke in a rush. The lavender unicorn shook her head, saying," Breakfast is the least of my concern, Spike! Look at this letter!" She hoofed over the letter she had received. As Spike read it, his eyes widened. At last, he looked up.
" But...the Princess usually holds all important meetings at late afternoon! Meetings at other times are just pranks. And did you realise that when she does that only once a year on Wednesdays, which is today, Princess Celestia always falls sick?" he blabbered like a nerd lecturing his classmates. In fact, he was a dead ringer for Twilight. The latter nodded.
" Exactly! Also, you forgot; when immortal beings are sick, they are in danger of dying, as their bodies are naturally weaker than normal ponies. Scientists conducted experiments, and results show that..." She stopped mid-lecture when she saw Spike's deadpan expression. She felt some heat emitting from her face, and quickly changed the subject. "Anyhoo, the Princess would only do that once a year, but she already did it this April! Can it be...it's actually really urgent, and important that she wanted to hold it three hours earlier? Oh wait, but maybe she is adding extra pranks! Or maybe..." She kind of resembed Pinkie. Random, impossible ideas, and just...amusing. Spike sighed.
" Twilight, calm down! The princess must have a sensible and perfectly valid reason for that. Now stop fretting over a trivial matter, and eat your..." He looked at the empty dining table. " Breakfast?"
Twilight came back to her senses, and took a deep breath. You're right, Spike. Prepare breakfast and let's eat and read!"

Applejack prepared to buck another apple tree. As she lifted up her legs while keeping her hooves to the ground, she kicked as hard as she could in this position. Delicious, fresh red apples rained down into buckets placed around the tree. The farmpony put down her hind legs, wiping a brow. " Whew! Buckin' a dozen apple trees 'ready takes half yer energy. Even Big Mac is gettin' tired." she said to herself. Being the hardworking mare she was, AJ galloped across the trees, all the way to where her tired big brother was at. " Need any help, Mac?" she asked. The former nodded, putting down his tired legs(he was ready to buck). As his sister helped out, he found an envelope on the green grass. Using his teeth, he picked it up. Big Macintosh tapped his sister on her shoulder, keeping his head stretched out.
Applejack turned her head around and raised an eyebrow. " Can't ya see Ah'm busy over here?" she grumbled. Always being the most observant pony around, she noticed how he held out his head. " Oh." She took the envelope, then tore off the sellotape(why was there even sellotape?). As she read the letter, she shrugged. " Princess Celestia, always holdin' meetings. Ah'll be sure to attend. Wonder if Twi or anypony else received it. Twilight should have, she's her most faithful student after all."
" Eeyup."
" Bye, Miss Cheerilee!"
" See you tomorrow, Applebloom. Remember to hand in your essay by Friday." As The Cutie Mark Crusaders went home, Applebloom sighed.
" Ah'm not doing well on mah essay. There's not much you can write about nature, is there?" Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo nodded their heads in agreement sadly. All of a sudden, a lightbulb formed in Sweetie's head.
" Maybe we can ask Fluttershy! She really is close to nature and animals. Maybe she can help!" Applebloom threw her tiny hooves around her friend.
" You're a genius at times!"
" What is that supposed to mean?"
" Ah dunno. Somethin'?"
" Ah'm goin' over to Twi's. Just to check, ya know."
" Eeyup. Be careful, Applejack." His sister sighed.
" Just call me 'sister'."
" Eeyup. Ok, sister." AJ chuckled. She trotted over to her friend's library.
" Hey Fluttershy!" The crusaders screamed. The yellow mare flinched for a moment, then peeked in between the spaces between her silky, pink hair. She brightened up when she saw who they were.
" Oh, it's you girls again! You gave me a surprise there. Anyway, what brings you all the way here?" she asked as she poured hot cocoa into four cups. Sweetie took a deep breath, then said all in a rush," Weneedhelpwithouressaysonnaturebutwedon'tknowwhattowriteandsinceyouknowallaboutanimalsandnaturewecametoyou!" Applebloom, Scootaloo and Fluttershy gapped at her. Sometimes, Sweetie had some abnormal skills for a filly. She spoke so fast that the other three struggled to catch up with what she was saying. Fluttershy somehow managed to decipher(?) it and began to explain.
Applejack knocked on the door of Sparkle's Tree Library. At least, that was what Twilight said the name was. The librarian opened the door, and said," Oh, Applejack! Come inside. It's really warm out there!" She beckoned for her farmer gal to come in with her hoof. Applejack wasted no time in entering the air-conditioned library, for it really was warm out there.
Twilight brought in some scones and a teapot with two cups. " So, what brings you here?" she asked, sipping her tea. Applejack, always being the straightforward mare, did not beat about the bush.
" Did ya receive this, er, letter from the Princess?" Twilight almost choked on her tea.
" Yeah, I did. Isn't it weird?" Twilight answered with astonishment. Applejack raised an inquisitive eyebrow.
" Weird? It's normal for her to hold meetings, right?
" Yes and no. You see...." She explained the whole thing that was mentioned to Spike earlier today. After that, Applejack was opening her eyes wide.
" But...why would Princess Celestia want to risk her life like that once more? She's witty and all, but she's really marbles today. T' be honest, she's making a stupid decision here."
" Applejack, I know you are the Element of Honesty, but there's a difference between honest and frank. Calling the Princess stupid? Now that is stupid. No offence meant, though." she added hurriedly. Applejack blinked, then sighed.
" Ah know. Sorry, Twi. It's just..."
" I know."
A new princess is arriving! (Not Twilight)
-Everypony gets their letter, let's move on-
" Thank you for attending this important meeting. This time, it is not a silly prank like the others. This is an urgent meeting that will affect the running of this country." The citizens gasped. What was she talking about? Princess Celestia continued with her speech. " It is not my choice, nor do I want to do this, but I will dig straight into the icing. We-" she paused. "-are having a new princess to rule Equestria, alongside with Princess Luna, Princess Cadence and myself. We do not know who yet, until she is chosen." Again, the citizens gasped. Only murmuring was added to it. Did Celestia just say 'chosen'? Is the princess among them? Princess Luna took up the rest of the speech. " If any mare is interested, please sign up on this paper, and write your name and your age. Most importantly, explain why you want to run Equestria. Valid reasons and age will be taken into consideration." She levitated a clipboard with a piece of paper attached to it. " Please step forward if you are interested in this. That is all. Goodbye." She placed it on a table next to her. Cadence added," If no mare wants to, we understand. It is a great responsibility, after all."
" Did I hear what Princess Celestia said right? She is going to choose a mare to be a princess ?" Rarity asked in astonishment and excitement. She eyed the others, and nudged them. " Hint, hint." The five stared at her, and Rarity could have sworn she saw a split second look of disgust on all their faces.
" Ah'm not going ta, Rarity. Didja really think Ah would sign up for that?"
" To be honest, Rarity, being a princess adds some burden to your shoulder. I'd prefer reading of ruling."
" The princesses look so serious all the time, it's boring. I wanna have fun !" (There was a popping sound, then confetti was scattered on the ground.)
" Sure, go ahead, Rare. I'm going to watch you not be a princess! You're really too prissy for it. But since I'm the loyalest of the loyals, I'm still gonna egg you on!" Rainbow smirked, and Rarity narrowed her eyes.
" Um, if you want to, go ahead..I-it's not like I'm...going to stop you or anything." A whimpering sound was heard. Rarity stared at them.
" You girls...." Rarity began. Then she burst out," are the best friends ever !" She gave all of them a hug at once, then zoomed off to the sign-up list at such a speed that Rainbow felt a bit of envy. The five looked at one another, astonished at Rarity's positive outburst, and bewildered at such speed. They gave (boss) pony shrugs and strolled over to where their friend was.
" Hey Rare! Good luck, but if you get chosen, we're gonna be very shocked!" Rainbow teased. Rarity, who, surprisingly was not fazed one bit, was...dancing?! She was doing jazz hooves, and sweating like crazy. They had never seen her as anxious and nervous as that.
" I can't believe I'm actually doing it!" When it was the mare's turn, she had trouble getting a grip of the pencil, and began writing in messy hoofwriting:
To the princesses that are reading this; my name is Rarity, who, would very much like to, eh, 'sign-up' for position of third princess of Equestria, my age is (this is censored) and my reason being is very simple. I just want that fabulous crown~!
The others stared at her incredulously.

Rarity was in her boutique, doing the usual stuff. Sewing, designing, and other things that contributes to making garment. Except that she wasn't doing very well, for her mind was only set about being crowned Princess. She kept on squealing (Sweetie Belle was not happy) and clapping her hooves. Then, her lilac phone on her sewing table rang. Rarity stared at it, puzzled. Only pony-mailing, letters and meeting in real life were the only form of communication in the modern days. Rarity had wanted to throw away this phone junk (that's what she calls it) but her parents objected to throwing this momento of their olden days communication. Rarity thought it was perfectly stupid to call the phone that, but she kept her mouth shut, as a lady would not speak of such insults.
Looking as though she was in pain, the marshmallow pony stretched out a hoof to grab the phone, but decided it would be cleaner to just use her telekinesis. Her horn fired up, and the phone..speaker..thingy... flew to her ear. An elegant and regal voice came from over the speaker. She was able to recognise it at once. " Princess Celestia! How may I help you?" The Princess chuckled, then said," I need you to come over to the Royal Palace at once. I have already informed the other five."
What did Rarity do? She went straight, of course. She would always obey royalty!
" I'm...here.." Rarity panted, sweating from head to hoof. Applejack, Twilight, Pinkie, Rainbow and Fluttershy turned their heads.
" Hey Rarity!" they called out in unison. Princess Celestia waited for them to be ready, then said," Do you know why I called you girls here?" she asked. They shook their heads. Not even Twilight, the smartest and most observant mare practically the whole Equestria knew, could figure out why her mentor called them here. Princess Celestia continued," It is because you are the only ponies I can trust to tell you why we needed another princess. Ponies from everywhere have come to me, and they are always complaining about tax extension and other problems. So far, I've been getting a hundred and over ponies coming over to me everyday, basically saying 'you are the worst ruler ever'. I will not forfeit my position as Princess of Equestria, but will need another princess to keep the running of this country stable. I do not make the decisions myself, and will take advice from the other princesses. We can only hope that this new princess will be wise and not so immoral." The six looked at her, with their mouths wide open. So this is why she chose such an absurd decision, which was not absurd at all, now that they knew what was going on.
" But Princess, you don't just choose from the mares who sign-up, do you? They will have to go through many tests, right?" Twilight asked. Celestia nodded, saying," Yes, they do. We will test their wit, patience, and many more, but this only is taken out to those who seem to be of age and have no impure reasons. I'm aware that Rarity has signed up, and I'm sorry to say that you are not one of them. Your reason is invalid." Rarity nodded, and tears welled up in her eyes. She managed to hold them back, but they almost started pouring down. Celestia placed a hoof to the mare's chin, and said," At least you can still be with your friends. Being a princess does not only mean wearing a shiny crown, but also a lot of work. And you do like your friends, don't you?" Rarity nodded again. She never thought about that, and now she felt relieved she wasn't chosen. She looked at her friends, and gave them a great big hug.

As usual, Derpy the mailmare woke up in a strange posture. As usual, Derpy brushed her teeth in an unusual way. As usual, she ate her salad and a can of vegetable soda(I know, right?)for breakfast and today was like everyday. Except that it wasn't. When Derpy flew down the stairs(and bumped into a table), she saw this strange letter lying on the floor. " Huh, wasn't I supposed to give the letters? Not receive them..Oh well, maybe this will improve my reading skills and vocabulary!" After a bit of fumbling, she managed to finally grip the letter in her hooves. It read:
Dear Derpy,
I would like you to come to the Royal Palace at four today. I'll give you a bit of extra time, as I'm aware you're not too good at directions. Don't be too late. Princess Celestia
Derpy, always like her name, read: Me like you Royal today. Give bit extra, I'm you're not too directions. Be late. Pintess Celtia " Pintess Celtia? Man, the Princess sure is bad at writing her name!" Derpy pointed out to herself. " What she just written doesn't make sense..Maybe I should go to Twilight Sparkle, that evil mare who always forgets my name! I try to remember hers, that Sparkle Twilight."
" So, Twlight. Finished reading that book?" Spike asked.
" Almost.....There! That was the five-hundredth book I've read this morning! Spike, pass me that book." she ordered, pointing to the book in question. Spike scratched his scales with a finger, raising an eyebrow. Twilight sighed.
" The book titled Mare Magicians Have More Magic! Eight Hundred Facts You Didn't Know About Female Unicorns! " Spike saluted her, climbing up the ladder to the book's location. He grabbed it and almost fell. It felt like it weighed a hundred pounds! After passing her the book, he wheezed and panted.
" That...book's...heavy..." Twilight looked at him, saying with smugness," Actually Spike, this book's as light as a feather on a pegasus' wings! And that was why I told you to get out more, and exercise or read along!"
" Yeah well, every book's light for you..and please, exercising are for old mares, and reading-" He paused. "-are for eggheads." he said ever so softly. Twilight, who paid no heed, was busy reading her five-hundredth and fifty-first book.
All of a sudden, the library door crashed open, and on it was a light grey mare with a yellow mane.
" Derpy heeeeeeere!" the mailmare yelled weakly. She slowly got to her hooves, and glared at the lavender unicorn standing in front of her. " So we meet again, Sparkle Twilight."
" Actually, I'm Twilight Sparkle. You know, reversed." Twlight replied, and blinked a few times. Derpy spat out," Yeah whatever! You forget my name too! It's Derpy, not Ditzy!"
" But you said..."
" Nevermind about that! Let me cut to the chase, although I'm not good at chasing..." the mailmare giggled at her little joke. Twilight stared at her with a deadpan expression, slowly saying," Right."
" Here's this letter! I want you to decipher it. Princess Celestia spelt her name wrong! It shouldn't be 'Pintess Celtia'!" Twilight immediately grabbed the letter, and after a second and a half, looked back up.
" Actually, Derpy("See, you said my name wrong again! It's Ditzy Doo!"), she spelt her name right. Anyways, let me read you the letter: Dear Derpy, I would like you to come to the Royal Palace at four today. I'll give you a bit of extra time, as I'm aware you're not too good with directions. Don't be too late." Derpy applauded.
" Wow, even though you mess up names, you're good at deciphering this strange language. Thanks, but not for calling me Ditzy!" And with that, Derps flew off.
A new princess is arriving! (Not Twilight)
Princess Celestia paced around her neatly adorned bedroom. The windows had pure white frames and some pastel pink curtains. The princess' lemon yellow canopy bed was just beside it. A lamp, a music box and a photograph of Luna and her was on a table nearby. The floor had majestic white ceramic tiles with patterns of roses, and everything was fit for a princess.
The (extremely) light pink mare used her telekinesis to open her bedroom door, and stepped outside, letting out a huge sigh. "Where is Derpy? I understand if she is lost, but I will not if she doesn't show up at all!" She went back to her royal throne (she expected Derpy to be here, and had Luna take over for her. Yes, Derpy usually shows up at the Princess' bedroom, for some reason.) and allowed her sister to go back to the Princesses' chamber. She thought to herself: "Maybe Derpy will come sooner or later." The throne room's doors were open, and her bedroom exposed itself clearly, allowing the pony sitting on the royal throne to witness what happens at that area.
All of a sudden, there was a crash heard, and anypony who heard that would rush over immediately; but not Celestia. She was quite used to that sound already, and was quite sure who made that sound. She called out," Derpy! In the throne room!" Sure enough, the grey mailmare came waltzing into the throne room, her eyes more messed up than ever.
"P-princess Celes-ah-tia....So glad to see you here.." Derpy blabbered. Princess Celestia couldn't help but chuckle a little at the former's silliness.
"I called you here, Derpy. Remember?" \
"Did you..? I'm quite sure you...Oh wait, I think...WELL YES YOU DID!" she screamed out. "I'M SO SORRY! PLEASE FORGIVE ME, YOUR HIGHNESS! YOUR VERY, VERY ROYAL HIGHNESS!" Derpy apologized(really loudly). She regained her composure. "Now, what do you want to tell me? Hurry up, I got to deliver mail today!...OH WHAT WAS I THINKING?! SO SORRY! HOW RUDE OF ME! Now, what do you want to tell me? Take your time, even as slow as a snail......Forget it, I give up, I'm just wasting my voice here."
"I get your point, Derpy. I will not beat about the bush, and tell you straight...."
