Rainbow Dash opened the door to her cloud home as Spitfire and Scootaloo trotted in behind her with Scootaloo retreating to her room and Spitfire making her way to the homes kitchen.
Dash planted herself on the cloud couch as she layed there thinking about the day she had experienced. She would have passed it off as a normal day, but she just couldn't get over that stare that she and Spitfire had shared, she had just seemed to click, still though she was still skeptical about this whole 'love' thing that was buzzing around her mind like an angry parasprite.
Meanwhile Spitfire was in the kitchen, she glanced out the slightly opened door and saw the cyan mare laying on the couch. Spitfire was worried about this, Dash had been acting off ever since she and her had locked eyes earlier today at the lake, Spitfire began to wonder if Dash knew about her feelings for her as her hoof that was holding a jug of water began to shake.
Spitfire stopped her actions as she put the jug of water as she began to think about the chances of Rainbow actually managing to figuring that out, she smiled and sighed in relief when she knew that the chances of that was very slim.
This still made the yellow mare confused as she began to ponder on what else could be troubling the mare. Her eyes widened when another thought came into her mind, what if Dash was feeling the same way.
Spitfire smirked as she pushed the thought away like she had done most times with the idea and let out a soft chuckle. let her mind spin to find a more relevant answer as she went back to finishing the food.
Meanwhile Scootaloo was upstairs playing in her room, she was also slightly confused about the day so far, to her it had started off just the same as any other day for the past few months for her, but after the lake Dash just seemed to be acting off.
Scootaloo wasn't sure why she was acting like that, but she did know it had something to do with the events earlier today. She sighed not really coming up with anything other than it was just Dash having a bad day.
Scootaloo put the thought to one side resumed her previous task and set about writing down idea's for new crusades for her and her friends, she had a smile whilst she wrote down some idea's from the top of her head.
After some time Spitfire called everyone for dinner, as the three pegasi sat round the table Spitfire opted to sit next to the cyan mare who was still as silent as she had been since they had arrived back at the house.
Dash smiled sheepishly as Spitfire sat down next to her. Dash's mind was still focused on what had been said to her at Sugarcube corner, She wanted to say something about it but couldn't. Dash wouldn't admit it to anypony but she was worried that Spitfire didn't feel the same way, she had intended to keep her mouth shut for this evening, but Spitfire wasn't about to let that happen.
Spitfire sat up slightly from her meal as she turned to face Dash, "So are you gonna help me take scoots to school tomorrow?" She asked the mare casually. Dash looked up and nodded slightly but not saying a word.
Spitfire resisted the urge to frown she passed it off as she resumed eating, after a few moments of silence she tried to ask another question.
Spitfire smiled as she spoke, "So did you like the Wonderbolts performance last week then Dash?" she asked curiously. Dash again didn't reply except she gave a mumble of some distant words and another nod of her head.
This time Spitfire frowned, she turned to face the cyan mare, "Dash look at me" she asked. Dash didn't resisted and turned to meet two concerned amber eyes.
Spitfire leaned in further, "what's wrong Dash, why are you so down?" she asked curiously.
Dash put her fake smile on as she spoke, "I'm fine Spit, hehe couldn't be better!" she said cheerfully hoping the former Wonderbolt captain wouldn't see through her disguise.
Spitfire though didn't buy it and as Dash turned back to her meal the yellow pegasus held out a foreleg to stop the mare as she spoke again.
"Dash please be honest, what's wrong?" Spitfire asked almost pleadingly. Dash felt her heart flutter as her hoof came into contact with Spitfire's. She quickly stood up trying to keep her act going.
Dash put her smile back on as she spoke, "Its okay Spitfire I'm cool, nothings wrong" she persisted.
Spitfire stood up mimicking the cyan mares stance, "Dash this isn't like you just tell me what's on your mind" she asked almost begging.
Spitfire stepped forward and rested a hoof on the rainbow mares shoulder, "please Dash you can tell me anything" She said as she waited for Dash's reply.
Dash gulped hard, her insides were now screaming at full force for her to tell the truth, or at least something close to it. Dash's breathing started to become slightly faster she quickly tried to find an answer for the yellow mare. It was then that Dash spotted the kitchen window and saw her escape.
"Dash" Spitfire said bringing the pegasus back to reality, Rainbow put her fake smile back on as she quickly made her way to the window as she spoke, "Um yeah thats great Spit look I need to go and um...help feed birds with....Twilight thats it okayseeyoulaterbye!" she said before bursting out of the cloud house as she almost broke the sound barrier.
Spitfire sighed heavily as she watched the blue speck fade from the window.
Suddenly Scootaloo spoke up, "What just happened mum?" she asked confused.
Spitfire turned to face her daughter, "I-I don't know sweetie, I'm sure Dash will be fine though" she said comfortingly to the filly before returning to the table as she began to eat again.
As she ate Spitfire's eyes wandered to the empty seat at the table 'I wish you could just tell me what's wrong' she thought to herself as she lost the appetite to eat.
