Waking Up

   She flinched.

    Twilight Sparkle rolled over, opening one eye expecting to see the sunshine outside her bedroom window. She didn't see the sunshine. She wasn't even in the library. She was in a grassy field, in the middle of nowhere, at nighttime, and probably not even in Equestria. To add icing on the cake, she had no memory. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't seem to remember anything before she woke up. She stood up slowly, pushing herself up on all four hooves.

    'Keep it together, Twilight,' she thought to herself. ‘You’re probably just dreaming. Yes, dreaming!’ She was still asleep at the library, waiting for Spike to wake her up for breakfast. She sat down and closed her eyes. After a few seconds, Twilight re-opened her eyes and was still in the middle of nowhere. 'No! I- but, this is just a dream! I can't be here, I was... Where was I before I woke up?' She thought. First she was freaking out and now she has no memory. She repeated closing her eyes and reopening them and with each time and receiving the same result, she got more frightened. Twilight sat there and began to cry.

~~~
    Twilight woke for the second time, sniffling as she sat up. She sat and tried to remember how she got there. She turned to her left, and sighed. She could not seem to remember anything before she woke up for the first time that night. Twilight didn't know what to do. She started sniffling, lost in her own thoughts. After a few seconds of silence, Twilight lay back down and closed her eyes.
~~~

    Twilight woke for the third time that same night. She started wondering why it was staying nighttime for that long, but that was a small thought in the back of her mind, covered by the ones she was currently thinking. She had to keep calm and make the best of it. From some of the many books she read, she got up to go search for some small rocks. She then made it back to where she woke up and arranged them into a small circle. She gathered some dry sticks from under the trees of a nearby forest. Wait. A forest? That wasn't there the last time she woke. Oh well. She stacked the sticks neatly into the circle of stones and will a small spark from her horn, started a fire for her to stay warm. She halfheartedly poked at the fire, tending every so often so it wouldn't go out.

    Twilight then started thinking of her fireplace back home, where she read a book on cold winter days. Oh how she wished she had a book right then. She wanted her bed, her friends. She wanted to see Spike and Ponyville. She was getting homesick. She wished she could remember what was going on. “Goodnight, Ponyville.” She whispered as she fell asleep a fourth time.

~~~
   She coughed.
   Twilight opened her eyes, and after seeing she was still out in the wilderness, just closed her eyes again. That’s when she felt somepony was watching her. She glanced around, not seeing anything. Then it happened. She was in the middle of a war. She saw soldiers dying left and right. She saw the guns and the canons. She was afraid, but nopony seemed to notice her. As if she wasn't even there. She closed her eyes, terrified as she was. She wanted to see the field again. Everything faded and disappeared. She was breathing heavily and tears were forming in her eyes. ‘What the buck was that!?’ She thought. She slowed her breathing and continued her sleep. From what she heard, ‘All great minds need great rest.’ She closed her eyes a fourth time and seconds after, fell into a deep sleep.
~~~

   Again as always it was still nighttime. Twilight shifted in her sleep, but not waking up, yet. In the forest deer and other creatures came in and out, ignoring the purple unicorn on the ground. She didn't know what to do. She didn't think of anything the multiple times she woke. Then it occurred to her. Why not look around for something that will help you remember.  Twilight opened her eyes slowly. Why hadn't she thought of it before? She looked to the north, to the south, and to the east. Her last option of seeing something was in the west. She stood up and slowly turned around. A wave of relief flowed through her body. There in the distance, a light glowed through the grassy area. It covered a good amount of the hill it was coming from.

    Twilight was so happy at that moment. She had finally had a chance to get out of there. She stood up, brushed herself off, and walked towards the hill.

~~~
    Along the way she saw beautiful flowers and herbs that Zecora could only dream of having. Twilight only wished she could bring some back to her zebra friend. From time to time, she sat and rested for her long journey to the hill. She wondered there, if the light was recently there when she woke for the fourth time, for the light wasn't there the other times. Twilight stood up again and kept going. She was happy that whomever the light belonged to would help her. As she walked on, she then remembered the war scene she had seen earlier that night. What was the cause of it? It simply was not real was all she could know was true.
    Twilight sat down again to rest her aching hooves. Man was the hill far away. Sweet Celestia it felt like hours she was walking, but only to know it had only been half an hour. Finally, she was going to get home. She was going to tell her friends of the crazy night she had wherever she was. Twilight reached the hill. Holy cow it was steeper than it looked from a distance. After about ten minutes of strain to get to the top, she finally was ready to greet the ponies which who the light belonged to.
   No. The light did not belong to a pony. The light was a series of lamps lighting a path to a tree line. Twilight curiously followed the stone path to the trees. She tripped at the edge of the trees, but when she stood up, saw an amazing sight. A beautiful river with all sorts of plats around and crossing high above it, an amazing old bridge covered in wines and moss leading into a hill side. As Twilight sighed, she made her way towards her new destination.
