New Pony, New Love

It was a beautiful afternoon in the land of Equestria, the sun was shining, the flowers were blooming and the birds were chirping. Twilight Sparkle was in her library, reading books as usual. Twilight was reading a book called "Love Never Fails", it was a romance book about two ponies that fall in love while the girl's friends attempt to prevent them from being in love. Twilight was just about to read the part where the girl pony is forbidden from seeing the boy by her friends… until Spike came into the room.

"Hey Twilight." Spike said, closing the door behind him. "Hello Spike." Twilight said, her eyes dug into the book she was reading. Spike noticed that she was digging into the book, reading it. "What are you reading there?" Spike asked out of curiosity. Twilight looked at Spike briefly and said "Oh, it's a romance novel. It can be sad too." Spike walked over to Twilight Sparkle and stated "Twilight, it's about time that you got your head out of those books and started to talk more with your friends. I mean after all, Princess Celestia requested that you make friends." "I know, but this book is really interesting that I must-".

There was a lot of banging at the door and Spike went over to answer the front door, curious and annoyed by the loud banging. Upon opening the door, Rainbow Dash just charged in and went over to Twilight Sparkle as if she had news for Twilight. "Twilight, you should come with me! There's a new pony in town and he's really cute!" "Not now, Rainbow Dash, I really have to read up on this great book." "Oh you can do that anytime! Now come!" Rainbow Dash literally had to drag Twilight out of her home just to convince her to come. Finally, Twilight decided that she would go, as Rainbow Dash said that the new pony could be worth her while and might have the same interests as her.

"What's the big deal with the new pony?" Twilight asked. "Oh, everyone seems to have fallen in love with him and is too shy to ask him out. But who knows, he might ask you out." Rainbow Dash said, looking convinced that Twilight and the new pony would be a cute couple.

Twilight had no comment to Dash's convinced look at her and continued to clop to town where the new pony was being introduced to everypony. When she and Rainbow Dash arrived, there was a large crowd of ponies and unicorns surrounding a building, where Princess Celestia was to announce the new pony in town. Twilight and Dash squeezed through the crowd to get to their other friends, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Applejack. "Why the big deal over someone new in town? It's just a new pony." Twilight Sparkle said, getting slightly annoyed that everyone making such a big deal over something that isn't necessarily needed.

"Oh Twilight, come on. You might like the guy." Applejack said, trying to get her into the craze. But it seemed like convincing her wouldn't be easy, unless she immediately caught interest like all the other girl ponies. Finally, after a good 2 minutes of waiting, Princess Celestia finally came onto the stage and looked at everypony. "Everypony! I welcome the newest pony into Ponyville! He is a kind gentleman and has survived many dangers! Here he is… the one… the only… Smarty Heart!". A cloud of smoke appeared and a male pony came out of the smoke.

Smarty Heart was a purple skinned Unicorn with a dark purple mane and had short wings. Everypony was amazed and began to cheer for him, going crazy in the process. Most of the girl ponies were love-struck by Smarty Heart's appearance and ended up cheering for him the most. Pinkie Pie at one point shouted "You're my hero, Smarty Heart!" and blew a kiss at him.

Smarty Heart was smiling and whipping his mane back and forth. Applejack was cheering and said "See? He doesn't look bad Twilight, you'll get to know him and be a huge fan of him like us!" But Twilight seemed to be dazed out, staring at Smarty Heart. Everything was slowing down. Smarty Heart was looking straight into Twilight Sparkle's eyes. It was a loved feeling that Twilight Sparkle had never felt before. She was falling for the new pony in town.

She began to smile at the Unicorn, having felt warm and comforted. Smarty Heart then blew a kiss at all the girl ponies in the crowd. Twilight Sparkle didn't even react, she was just smiling at him and gazing, imagining she and Smarty Heart kissing at a sunset, on a balcony in Canterlot. Rarity soon noticed that Twilight Sparkle began to blush. "Why Twilight… is that a blush I see?" she said, the white Unicorn smiling. But Twilight Sparkle was too dazed out to even talk to Rarity, she just kept staring endlessly at Smarty Heart.

After the introduction was over, Twilight Sparkle started to follow Smarty Heart as he was leaving to the comfort of his own home. Keeping hidden, she would peek out behind Smarty Heart whom was smiling and walking by through the night. "Hi!" A voice jumped out behind Twilight Sparkle, startling the purple unicorn. It was only Pinkie Pie, her friend. "Pinkie Pie, why do you startle me?" Twilight annoyingly said. "Oh, Rarity told me that you were blushing at the sight of Smarty Heart. Do you… like him?". Twilight Sparkle tried to hide the blush, but Pinkie Pie saw the rosy cheeks she had. "OH! I knew it! You have a crush on him!" Pinkie Pie stated out loud. "I do not!" Twilight shouted, trying to hide the blush from everyone else.

But Pinkie Pie just began to tease her more, so Twilight Sparkle started to chase her around Ponyville. Once Pinkie Pie retreated, Twilight Sparkle continued to follow Smarty Heart to his humble home. At one point, Smarty Heart stopped for a moment and thought someone was following him, so he turned around and began to scan his eyes to see. Twilight Sparkle on the other hand, was hiding whenever he turned around. Finally after a few moments, Smarty Heart brushed it off and continued home. When he arrived home, Twilight watched him enter his home and turn on his lights. From what Twilight Sparkle saw, there was a bookshelf with mountains of books, she clopped up closer for a better look and saw Smarty Heart reading a book quietly.

Twilight Sparkle was backing up, because she really didn't want to look like a spy. As she backed up, she bumped into somepony and noticed it was Fluttershy, who was giving Twilight Sparkle an invitation to a party where everypony in Ponyville would all play games and have fun. Twilight Sparkle looked at the invitation and began to think for a moment. She could invite Smarty Heart to the party and attempt to ask him out and confess, but then she thought for a moment and decided that she should read a book about tips on asking a colt out.

So she clopped back to her home and entered, sitting at her desk, pushing the book she was reading off the desk and called for Spike to get her the book on "Tips for Love". Spike grabbed the book in the T section and handed it to Twilight Sparkle. The unicorn slowly began to read the book. Upon reading Part 1 of the book, she was reading that making a date with a boy unicorn wouldn't be easy and needed time. So it suggested to Twilight Sparkle that she start being friends with her first, unless the Unicorn was a romantic type. If the Unicorn was romantic, it wouldn't be a problem. She began to continue reading through the night, preparing for tomorrow night's party.
