New Pony, New Love

It was still the same night after the date, Smarty Heart was trying to sleep but was having a nightmare. In the nightmare, he was trying to defend his love from a terrifying monster that was trying to consume her into darkness. Jumping in front of the monster, he was consumed instead and darkness surrounded the Alicorn to the point where monsters started to surround him and attempt to attack, but he woke up screaming before he was consumed by the monsters.

He looked outside and then to his clock, it was 2:16am. "Still night…" Smarty Heart said, yawning and too traumatized by the dream he had. After a few minutes of trying to sleep, he could not sleep but instead kept thinking about the dream he had. He sat there numb and afraid, he sometimes suffered from nightmares and found it hard to fall asleep. Thinking for a moment, possibly minutes… he then found a solution to help him get to sleep, Twilight Sparkle.

He left his home in the night and trotted to Twilight Sparkle's library, to which he knocked on the door and waited, looking still afraid. A tired Twilight Sparkle then opened the door, and saw the scared Smarty Heart, all colors drained from his face. "Smarty Heart, are you alright?" Twilight Sparkle asked, in worry and concern. Smarty Heart just shook and weakly said "Bad dream, cannot sleep…" Twilight Sparkle then placed her hoof on his forehead, checking him. "You might have a cold my love. Come inside, I'll let you rest next to me and maybe you'll feel better." Twilight said, putting a hoof around her Alicorn boyfriend and leading him inside.

Going up the stairs, Smarty Heart looked at Twilight, slowly stroking her soft mane as she was helping him up the stairs, before weakly coughing and sneezing. Upon reaching Twilight's room, Smarty Heart walked over to her bed and flopped down onto it's silky softness of the bed, feeling cold and mildly sick. Twilight then lied down next to him and put a hoof around him, saying "Well, let's hope you feel better before the Gala starts, I don't want you missing out." Smarty Heart smiled a bit and nodded in agreement before spreading his right wing and covering her up with it to keep Twilight warm. Twilight felt flattered and blushed, before stroking his beautiful face and falling asleep.

Smarty kept his eyes on Twilight, he just couldn't stop staring. Thinking about her… he had his predictions of what good things would happen in their relationship. But at the same time he began to worry, what if it didn't turn out well? If something bad came, she might never want to speak to him again and would maybe give him the cold shoulder. In fear, he tightened his hug a little bit. He didn't want to lose Twilight Sparkle and her love with him. He then slowly fell asleep once again, in the comfort of his love's warmth.

Rainbow Dash was flying down to Pony Joe's for a donut and coffee, it was a rough night for her to clear the skies of clouds and she felt like a coffee could wake her up. Goodness, the stress of having to clear up the clouds… please. She lived in Cloudsdale, so there was no excuse. Landing on the ground, she proceeded to enter Pony Joe's as the door she swung open rang a bell.

Pony Joe came out and noticed the familiar face, saying "Well, hello Rainbow Dash. How can I help you this morning?" Rainbow Dash sat at the front, facing Pony Joe and saying "An extra-large coffee with sugar and milk." Pony Joe got the order memorized and said "Alright." Before walking into the back to make the coffee. As always, Rainbow Dash always felt so miserable when she was tired. She sighed and let out a huge yawn before grabbing the nearby local newspaper and reading it.

Looking through the newspaper, she looked at the main headline, in big bold letters it said "Royal Galloping Gala To Start Again!" "Yeah, start again…" Rainbow Dash tiredly said and saw her coffee get set onto the table. She put down the newspaper and took a sip of her coffee, the warm coffee giving her the spirit to wake up and go flying about. Pony Joe keeping an eye on her noticed that she had been really serious lately and decided to talk to her. "I've noticed that you're acting quite serious lately, Dash. Would you like to tell me what happened?"

Rainbow Dash looked at him and said "It's just frustration of my job to clear the skies, that's all." "No, you're hiding something. Please tell me, I won't tell anyone." Rainbow Dash sighed and gave in, saying "Well, it's my friend Twilight Sparkle. I think she's obsessed with this one pony… an Alicorn you could say." Pony Joe scratched his head and said "Oh you mean that new pony that arrived? He's cool." Rainbow Dash put a hoof to her face and sighed annoyingly, it was all the same. She would tell the pony about Twilight Sparkle and Smarty Heart and everypony would say that the two were a cute couple.

Rainbow Dash then removed the hoof from her face and said "Well, I really don't mind the relationship to be honest, I'm just worried that Twilight will soon get obsessed and won't stop talking about Smarty Heart. And she's already dating him." Pony Joe then said "Well, I wish them great luck in their relationship." Rainbow Dash sighed again, it was going to be yet another day with more ponies talking about the Unicorn and Alicorn.

"Awwww!" Smarty Heart woke to the sound of Spike admiring the two sleeping together and looked at the small purple-green dragon. Spike then said "Morning Smarty!" and smiled, crossing his dragon arms. "Good morning." Smarty Heart said, a quiet yawn coming out. Spike then said "I do not think we've been introduced. I'm Spike, the dragon assistant to Twilight Sparkle." Smarty Heart said "I'm Smarty Heart. And it is nice to meet you Spike." And shook the small dragon's hand.

Spike then noticed the sleeping Twilight and said "Cover your ears, I'm going to wake her up." Smarty Heart then covered his ears as Spike shouted into Twilight Sparkle's ear for her to wake up. Twilight Sparkle jumped into the air surprised and fell back onto the bed with soft force. She then looked at Spike and said "I swear Spike, you do not need to wake me up that way-" She was interrupted when Smarty Heart put his hoof on her shoulder, which made Twilight giggle.

There was loud banging on Twilight Sparkle's front door, someone really wanted in. "Who keeps knocking furiously on my door usually?" Twilight Sparkle said and went to the door, opening it to see three little fillies, Sweetie Belle, Apple Bloom and Scootaloo. It was the Cutie Mark Crusaders. Twilight Sparkle let them in, but told them not to cause trouble. But when they saw Smarty Heart, trouble began. "Hey, who's this?" Sweetie Belle asked. Twilight said "Oh that's my boyfriend Smarty Heart." "Why doesn't he have a cutie mark?" Scootaloo asked, examining him.

Smarty Heart then nervously said "Um, I really think I should go now. The gala's in a few days…" and attempted to walk out. But Apple Bloom blocked him from leaving and said "You can't be out there with no cutie mark! We must find you something you're interested in!" "Sorry, but I have to go." Smarty Heart said, trying to get out. But finally the three fillies began to pull on his leg and beg for him to stay. But Smarty Heart told them no once again and that he'll be fine without a cutie mark. The fillies then let go of him and watched as he walked off, blowing a kiss to Twilight Sparkle.

Apple Bloom then turned to Twilight Sparkle and asked "Is he your boyfriend?" Twilight said "Yes he is." All three of the Cutie Mark Crusaders then proceeded to tease Twilight Sparkle, but she shut her door on them. They then hopped onto her window and tapped it to get her attention. Twilight turned to them and blushed more when she saw them drawing both Smarty and Twilight kissing. "Oh boy, it's just one of those days…"
