Epilogue: A Granted Wish

Previous Chapter

Rainbow, Summers, and Scootaloo arrived at the door of Sugar Cube Corner where Dash had Scootaloo's surprise hidden. She had originally intended for the surprise to be for a different filly, but Scootaloo would have just as much fun as anypony else.

She had flown here after she had gotten the letter from the orphanage to ask Pinkie to throw a party for the filly. She told Pinkie to gather up only their friends and as a bonus, Rainbow called in a favor from the Wonderbolts that they owed her for saving their lives.

“Rainbow, why are here?” asked Magic. She had asked Rainbow where were they headed a few times and now was the time for her to answer.

A smirk appeared on Rainbow's face and she placed her hoof on the door, ready to reveal what she had planned. “Because of... THIS!” she exclaimed, forcing open the door which revealed all of the ponies that had gathered for the party.

“SURPRISE!” they all shouted.

Scootaloo bounced in excitement seeing all the ponies gathered and looked up to see a banner that read. 'WELCOME TO YOUR PARTY' Scootaloo couldn't help but sob right in front of everypony which caused some concern.

Rainbow and Summers quickly rushed to her side to comfort her and see what made her cry. “Scootaloo, what's wrong?” Magic signed.

“ A party thrown for me, I'm so grateful," Scootaloo signed to Magic.

Rainbow waited for Summers to translate with Scootaloo had told her. “What's wrong with her?” she asked, with a hint of fear in her tone.

Magic smiled at Rainbow, “She's fine,” she reassured.

Rainbow sighed in relief. She was worried something bad had happened to Scootaloo when she had started crying. “SHE FINE!” Rainbow called out, and everypony sighed in relief.

“LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!”  shouted the DJ, sliding a hoof on the record player and the music started to blast out of the speakers.

Everypony started dancing excitedly. Rainbow, Magic, and Scootaloo were dancing together, laughing and screaming in joy. Rainbow picked Scootaloo up in her forelegs and started throwing her up and down in the air.

Scootaloo was laughing so hard she hardly had a chance to breath; she was having the best time of her life. All her days of pain, loneliness, and regret seemed far behind her.

After several minutes of dancing Rainbow decided she had enough and sat down near a empty table by the window. She was watching Scootaloo sadly as she had fun hitting the pinata with the stick she held in her mouth.  The candy that came out was immeaditly stolen by Sweetie Bell and Applebloom, who were currently being chased by Scootaloo.

Magic Summers walked over to the table and sat across from Rainbow, “What's the matter, Ms. Dash?” she asked.

“It's just... I could have been there for Scootaloo, I could have prevented her accident, but instead I had a letter let me know of her accident,” Rainbow said. A tear from her eye slid down her cheek.

“Rainbow, look at me,” Magic said. Rainbow remained staring outside of the window, not even bothering to look at her. “I SAID LOOK AT ME!” she demanded. Rainbow full attention was now on her. “You, listen to me! You didn't know, how could you? It's not your fault, but that filly,” Magic said, as she pointed to Scootaloo, who was still playing with the other fillies, “is having the best time of her life and you made it happen. She looks up to you, and I-I...” Magic voice started to crack with sobs. “I would have been happy to have you watching over me.” .

Rainbow felt like a jerk for making Summers cry.  “Hey look ,” Rainbow apologized, calming Summers down.

“It's just that I was like Scootaloo when I was a filly. Alone, afraid, in pain, but I didn't have anypony like you, unlike Scootaloo,” said Summers tearfully. "I admire your love and care towards Scootaloo. I have been caring for Scootaloo since she came to the orphange, and I can say that you have really made a positive influence in her life."

“Wow I didn't know you felt that way,” Rainbow said, shocked.

“Thanks for listening, Rainbow. Please, that little filly's dream come true,” Magic said, then went to check on Scootaloo, who was currently eating a slice of cake.

After hours passed the party was finally ending. Everypony went home and Scootaloo got to ride on Spitfire's back when she flew around Ponyville. Spitfire was even nice enough to give Scootaloo a special edition autograph, complete with a small display case.

Scootaloo fell asleep on Rainbow's lap while Dash and Magic were talking about her. Rainbow took Scootaloo in her forelegs and carefully flew her to the orphanage while Summers galloped behind.

Rainbow had to wait in the waiting room for Summers to come out so they could talk more about Scootaloo. She was reading a Daring Doo book while she was sitting and loving ever word of the story.

Summers kissed Scootaloo on the forehead and whispered, “Goodnight,” then closed the door behind her.

Summers came back and sat down near Rainbow with a smile upon her face. “Thank you, Rainbow,” Magic said, before giving Rainbow a kiss on the cheek which made her blush. “You really granted her wish today, you're truly her hero and mine.”

Rainbow looked at the list Summers gave her earlier and said, “Not yet I haven't.”

On the list were five big words written by Scootaloo in multicolored crayon. Those were the words Rainbow was determined to make happen.

'CAN YOU BE MY MOMMY?
