My Little Pony Family Is Love

“Wake up, do you want to sleep in and be lazy? Scarlet is already awake.”  Meteor scolded, as Star started to slowly wake up, Meteor slammed the door, mumbling something Star couldn’t hear. With a sigh, Star jumped off her bed and made her way down stairs, still feeling groggy and not fully awake. When she came down the stairs Scarlet was sitting at the table munching on an apple, he looked nervous.

“Good morning Star.” He said, waving as Star sat at the table next to Scarlet. Her father, Grapeberry Shower, was busy making coffee.

“Dont eat too much, youre getting fat already….” He said, Star flinched and Scarlet stared at Grapeberry, something Star couldn’t understand flashed in his eyes. Star only took half an apple.

“Thats it? Youll wear yourself to the bone eating that little. Ugh, why couldn’t you be like your sister?” Meteor huffed angrily, Star almost choked on her apple as Meteor mentioned her sister.

“Maybe she isn’t like her sister because she`s her own pony.” Scarlet hissed, he had a mix of anger and frustration. The three unicorns stared at the scarlet colt with wide eyes, Star had a look of shock and disbelief while her parents looked furious.

“And dont come back for the rest of the day! Save for you, rat! Dont come back at all you boneless chicken rat!” Grapeberry screamed as he kicked the two foals out of the house, they landed with a thud on the ground.

“Ow… Im so sorry Scarlet… its my fault I got us kicked out…” Star whispered, her bottom lip trembling as unshed tears started to form in her eyes.

“No! Don`t say that! Those two were being really rude and that was a low blow! You have the right to be treated kindly.” Scarlet growled, looking at Star and putting a hoof on her shoulder. Star looked at him, her eyes were clouded and she spoke in a serious matter of fact tone.

“They`re my parents. They can do whatever they want.” She said, shrugging. “We…. We should find you somewhere to stay, I know a place. D-do you want to come.” She then went back to her shy tone and stuttering. Scarlet looked at her for a moment, but decided that now was not the time to ask her about her sister.

“A-ah sorry! D-did I scare you?! U-uh… I was just t-trying to be s-s-serious!” Star cried out, “I won`t d-d-do that again! I Promise!”

“U-uh no! Its fine! I- you- you just surprised me, thats all! Ahahah….” Scarlet laughed awkwardly, he wasn’t good at dealing with shy ponies. “S-so, about that place. Can you take me there?” He asked, hopefully. Star nodded.

As Star and Scarlet walked through Canterlot Star stopped for a moment.

“I-Im not really supposed to be talking to them, but th-theyre the o-only ponies I-I can think of in C-C-Canterlot. So p-p-please dont tell my parents, O-oh, d-d-dont tell them about my pa-parents either, D-d-don`t ask, they just don’t l-l-l-like them…” Star stuttered out, a pleading look in her eyes. Scarlet nodded quickly, he felt nervous though, very, very nervous.

They continued walking until they came to an apartment, it was an oddly shabby looking place, which was really weird considering this was Canterlot, a place well known for its fancy… well everything.

“I-I know it seems l-l-like a shabby place, but the ponies here. J-just tell Them Starry b-b-brought you h-h-here and you nee-need a place t-t-t-to stay… OKBYE!” Star suddenly screamed loudly and then rushed off before Scarlet could catch up. With a small sigh, Scarlet took a deep breath and walked into the apartment.

As Scarlet walked up the apartment he was stopped by an abnormally large white unicorn, he had a short yellow mane, one eye had a large scar on it and was a milky blue, white the other was a glaring dark red. The stallion had a cracked horn and had many scars covering him, his cutie mark was scratched out on both sides.

“Child, what are you doing here?” The stallion said, his voice was gruff and raspy.

“U-uh… Starry sent me… I need a place to stay… sir…” Scarlet stuttered out, he suddenly felt like this was a bad, bad idea.

“Starry? Well then, you can stay here kid. I`m Royal Blaze, who are you?” The stallion said, a small faint smile crossed his face.

“O-Oh thank you! I`m Scarlet!” the pegasi said, smiling brightly, feeling relieved.

“Scarlet? Thats an odd name for a pegasi, a colt no less. Well, I’m not going to judge, boy. Now come along, you must want to find out where youre staying.” Blaze said, starting to go up the stairs of the apartment, Scarlet followed quickly.

As Scarlet sat at the table in the old apartment room, Blaze and a midnight blue pegasi mare named Lightning Ranger with short blond hair and deep purple eyes were buzzing around, most likely preparing lunch, as it was around lunch. She had a bullhorn with lighting three lighting strikes coming out of it for a cutie mark. Scarlet had learned that the mare was Blazes fillyfriend, but she lived in Dodge City, who was visiting for a week, this was her second day here in Canterlot.

“Well kiddo! Im glad I was here to meet you! Heh, youll need someone to teach you how to fly! Just send me a letter if I aint here when you need to learn. You look like youre getting to that age… what are you, 5.. 6?” Ranger asked, laughing as she started making coffee.

“I`m 8. I was born on October 12th if that helps, Miss. Ranger.” Scarlet said, smiling, these were very nice ponies, he liked them, even though Royal Blaze was a little scary, He thought.

“8? Well then kiddo! We can start anytime you want. Oh, and you can just call me Lightning, or Ranger, no need for the miss.” Ranger said, laughing.

“Ok, I know how to fly, but I would like help polishing my skills….” The small colt said.

“You already know? Heh, well whatta you know! Hey let me tell you how I learned to fly….” Ranger started.
