Chapter 1: A Frozen Dream
It's dark and I can't see anything. I can't tell whether or not if I'm sleeping or if this is some lost memory. Suddenly everything comes into view,and I see a room with stuffed animals of pony soldiers. I have a strange feeling that I've seen this before. The stuffed animals are then surrounded by a strange silver aura, their heads pop off and shards of ice materialize to pin their heads to the wall.It's dark again, as if my eyelids just closed to snap out of the vision.
Another scene appears, it's the same room but this time with a slight difference.There were no toys to be seen, and it looks like the holes in the wall are gone too. I suddenly get up and my horn starts to glow that same silver aura. Silver light streams out of my horn and starts to cover the whole room in ice. The door opens and a mare walks in to try to calm me, I end up covering her face in ice so I couldn't tell who it was. She shakes off the ice, lays me back down on the bed and walks out of the room closing the door behind her. The vision fades again, this time I can tell that I closed my eyes.
The room finally comes back into view after a long stretch of darkness. However there was light coming through the windows and I was able to move freely. I also noticed that the room had an older look to it and that I wasn't in a crib. "ColdBlood are you up yet?" a masculine voice calls from the other side of the door and as if everything has been waiting for this, I know where I am. "I am up now father" I call back now knowing that the voice is of my dad. My family lives in the middle of Manehattan, which is probably the loudest city in all of Equestria. My father GoldBlood, the one who called for me earlier, is a unicorn with a blue gray coat, golden mane and a bushy mustache, he is well off business pony. my mother, SnowFlare, is light blue unicorn with a fiery red mane, she is a prestigious media pony. The two of them get invited by famous ponies like Photo Finish and Fancy Pants to parties.
Despite all this my mother and father would come home after these events with tired expressions and would grumble about how much pressure there is during these parties. Though I have never been to the late night parties, I have been present to some of the garden parties that take place during the day. It's one of the most dreadful parties that ever takes place and I tend to play tricks on some of the party members by freezing the punch or a patch on the ground to have them slip and fall. Fancy Pant's parties I somewhat enjoy, for he takes great interest at my capabilities for freezing things and ends up talking me into putting on a show with my control of magic. "He is such a young colt and is already capable at such incredible magic" I heard a mare say to the stallion at her side. "Indeed his magic is fabulous and rad! The colt is gifted with powers far beyond that of any normal unicorn and he doesn't even have his cutie mark yet!" a pony with an overly large hat had responded to the mare even though it was not directed towards her. I would always come home with a smirk on my face after those parties because of all the attention I would receive, eventually that smirk decided to stay on my face.
Getting out of bed has always been an issue for me, I prefer being up at night, observing the moon and stars with admiration.I found my parents in the dining room of our four floored townhouse, GoldBlood was reading the newspaper, while drinking a cup of coffee. SnowFlare was chopping up vegetables while trying to read the newspaper over GoldBlood's shoulder. Both of them when realizing that i had entered the room, then started to ask me if I slept well I just nodded without giving any real answer. GoldBlood then passed me the newspaper showing me the front page, my eyes widen and the smirk that stayed plastered to my face widened into a large smile. My favorite Princess has finally returned to Equestria after years of being banished to the moon!. The smirk reforming onto my face, I told my parents that I was going to the park to practice wielding my magic, I have a goal and I plan to make it a reality.
Spending the day in the park I came up with a peculiar method of transportation. Concentrating I run forward then jump, but before landing I freeze a path of ice which I use to slide on. I would then keep freezing the surface before me to glide me to where ever I wish to go to, in this case I was going home. Getting there faster then I had anticipated I decided that it would be fun pulling a prank on my parents when they get home after work, what I had not expected was for them to be there already. They were waiting patiently for me in the dining room with unusually happy faces, they suggested for me to sit down before they explained themselves. "Your mother and I decided that we are tired of living in Manehattan. As you are well aware of, we would constantly be stressing over all the pressure we are under from keeping up appearances and so... We decided to move to a country town called Ponyville!" GoldBlood seemed pleased with his dramatic announcement, SnowFlare just rolled her eyes before saying "It is a nice small town, with fresh air and beautiful scenery. There is as well a small school that I am sure you will enjoy and even though you don't have your cutie mark, you can already use magic. However I know fully well about how you can be a bully sometimes and embarrass ponies, you are to refrain from giving the community a hard time" the mare said with a somewhat stern but mostly relaxed voice.
I had a feeling that my parents would eventually decide to leave, either that or they'd burst to the pressure. However I was not the least bit worried, living in Ponyville sounded like it could be fun. Even though SnowFlare told me to not trick or tease ponies it was hard to hold back on a new community. We are to leave tomorrow, apparently my parents sold our house along with everything in it except the memorial stuff. They told me it be would funner to start anew rather then hang onto a life we knew we were never going back to.
Once again all see is nothing but black, but slowly an image began to form. It wasn't the room that I dreamed of the night before, it still seemed familiar. I was in a library with books thrown everywhere, by the looks of it there were more books on the ground then there were in the shelves. I've been to Manehattan's library before but this wasn't it, it looked to be much more grand and had a sort of royal taste to it. That would't make much sense being that I've never been to Canterlot's Library before and the closest I've ever been to it was during one of Fancy Pants's parties. Yet I stood before the royal mark that was on the floor before me. The room started to get cold, because I can now see my breath. Ice started to spread yet I didn't use my magic and snow started to spiral in gusts of wind coming from who knows where.
It went from a library to a blizzard and then nothing...I stood alone briefly before somepony started to enter my enclosed conscious. Who it was I did not expect but, Princess Luna, my favorite princess was before me. Her eyes showed signs of sadness and it looked to be that she had been crying before. I couldn't tell whether or not she knew that I was there or if she could even see me for that matter. I don't know why but I feel as if that this isn't dream and what I am seeing is currently happening. My blood started to feel cold and I knew that I might not be able to control myself. My horn glowed a brilliant color of silver, and then...

The trip to Ponyville was thankfully a lot less boring then I thought it would be, in fact I could not keep my eyes off of everything passing by. We took the train from Manehattan instead of taking a carriage, which might stand out too much and make everypony uncomfortable. When we arrived and walked through the door of our new home my parents told me to go and explore my new community. They didn't even have to tell me for I practically launched for the door, across the street was a large tree that looked to have been made into somepony's home. I started to head for the middle of town, hoping to find somepony to prank or to cause trouble. I ended up at a store that looked to be part cake, I walk inside to see that it was a cake store that also served shakes. Having kept my saddlebag on, I was able to get myself a vanilla shake and was just about to start drinking when three fillies walk through the entrance.
At first they were to busy talking to themselves about what they could do in order to get their cutie marks. Until one of them noticed me, she was an earth pony with a red mane and a yellow coat. The three of them approached me with grins on their faces,"Hey are you new here?" The pegasus had asked. "Cause, uh, we were just wondering since your new here and all if you would like to join our group?" The white unicorn asked excitedly, I narrowed my eyes at this not fully comprehending the request. "Y'ah and you don't have your cutie mark, so we thought that ya wanna join" said the third one who was an earth pony with a country accent.
They all order shakes which gave me an idea, one that was somewhat cold. I waited for them to take a drink from the straws, while finishing my own shake. When they all started to drink I froze the shakes preventing them from having any. I then "accidentally" bumped into the table causing the now frozen shakes to land on their hooves below the table. They yelped in pain but before they could do anything about it, I froze their hooves that were on the table to it so they couldn't move. "It was a nice offer girls but I've got no interest in some weird club, that requires you to be a blank flank in order to join" I snickered a bit at the nastiness that I just spewed. I then walked out of the building looking for something else to do.
I walked a few steps before a sudden whoosh of air and color passed by me. A pegusus pony with a rainbow colored mane passed by me with tremendous speed, I decided it would be fun to try a catch up with the pony. I ran then released the beam in order to create the path of ice that I would use to propel myself. Though catching up with the rainbow pony had been a lot harder than anticipated, the pony saw me and descended. She looked me up and down with interest before saying anything, "I can't believe somepony is able to keep up with me, not to mention that you don't have wings! I am Rainbow Dash what's your name colt?" I found this pony to be to my liking and I didn't want to do something that would make me look lame. "I am ColdBlood and I know you said keeping up, but you were way ahead of me and I was trying my hardest" I exclaimed with my smirk more present than ever. "True but I'm the best, so don't think you're not fast. Though I've never seen magic like that before, even my friend Twilight hasn't pulled off anything cool like that."
This pony, Rainbow Dash, is so far the best part about this move other than the fact that you can see Canterlot in the distance. "Things tend to be cool when I am around and if you like I can do more than just surfing on ice" I replied hoping to keep the conversation alive for a little longer before going off to see more of the town, as well as finding out who this Twilight is. "Ha! Sure kid, show me what you got" Rainbow Dash seemed enthusiastic about this. I concentrated my magic thinking about something cool to showoff, it then hit me. I created a whole bunch of rings that reached at least 30 feet into the air and from the reaction of Rainbow Dash, she knew what it was. "That is totally Awesome! You created an obstacle course out of ice" she seemed excited but I wasn't done yet. Even though it took a lot out of me I managed to get them to spin, in order to make it more of a challenge. "Oh this is so cool!" Rainbow Dash says before flying of at high speeds to try it out. She was definitely an amazing flier, even though it didn't last long cause it put too much strain on my brain.
Before going our different ways she told me that I should really talk to Twilight and that she would be interested in my magic. Rainbow Dash left without telling me where Twilight lived, but it didn't bother me too much. Unlike Manehattan, Ponyville was very small, so learning about other ponies would probably be easy. I was walking back home and I saw that tree house, I decided to check it out and notice the sign with the book on it. It must be a library, I wonder who was taking care of it. I decided to knock just in case somepony was still inside and I wasn't to sure if this place was private or not.
A mare answers the door and has a look of surprise on her face when she saw me. She was a purple pony whose mane was blue with two different color streaks and she had what appeared to be a baby dragon behind her. "Hello, I haven't seen you around before" she looked inquisitively at me to be sure that she was right. "My name is Twilight Sparkle, what's yours?"
