A lost stallion from the skies
Chapter 2: First day in Ponyville
Previous ChapterWhile walking, Flare stopped and looked up at the tree. “Hey, umm” Flare cleared his throat. “What is the place or should I say what is inside that tree? Also, what’s your name?”
“Uh, my name’s Spike” the baby purple dragon responded.
“Oh, alright. Spike then it is,” Flare said looking down at the dragon then back at the door of the tree.”
“This place is called ‘Golden Oak Library’, it’s basically the library of Ponyville. Princess Twilight doesn’t stay here often, but she used to be the Librarian of this place, but she comes here less and less because of her Royal Duties.”
“Ah, amazing…”
“I should know since I used to help her organize the books in this place. But let’s hurry don’t wanna keep her waiting.”
“Yeah, ok.”
When they got to the door, Spike opened the door to the library. He walked in, and Flare followed. Flare looked around the library. He eyed every item in the room then shot his eyes back looking straight at Twilight who was in the center of the room.
“Hello Flare, pleasure to meet you.”
“What a pleasure it is indeed.”
“How do you feel?”
“I feel uh, great actually,” Flare looking around the room.
Twilight walked just a little closer, and she started studying him. His mane and tail was normal, and they didn’t flow like when they met him in the Everfree Forest. She then took an old necklace from behind and dropped it right in front of him.
“Do you know what this is, do you remember ever wearing this?”
“No… No, I don’t.”
“This was found in the crater you came out of a week ago. I tried figuring out what are the signs on the necklace, and who could’ve made it, but none of the books here gives any detail as to how these necklaces were made. I think Princess Celestia would know more about it.”
“I guess so, I don’t even remember being in a crater. I just remember waking up in a hospital bed…”
“So would you let me take this necklace to her to examine it?”
“Of course, no problem. I can’t seem to remember how it got on me anyhow.”
“So you have no idea of where you might have came from? Did you come from another planet or…”
“Not the slightest idea.”
“Hmm, interesting.”
Twilight paces from side to side about the room. Spike eyes slant slightly. Flare raises an eyebrow then stoops his head down to Spike. He spoke in a rather low toned voice.
“Uh, does she always does this while thinking or something?”
“Well not always, but whenever she’s in deep thought or is thinking on something deeply, she just goes into this pacing routine.”
As Spike finished his sentence, Twilight stopped pacing about the room and looked back at Flare.
“I can’t reference it to anything that Princess Celestia or Luna have. I guess will have to bring to her and figure out what this is all about.”
“Spike could you take Flare and show him around Ponyville. You could start anywhere you want.”
“Fine, alright.” Spike said as he walked out the door.
“Flare, are you coming?”
“Yeah sure, right behind you.”
Spike and Flare walked outside the library. Flare gazed around at all the beauty the village had to offer. Everything for him was so vivid and pleasing to look at. Spike nudge him on his hoof.
“So where do you want to start?”
“Umm, I guess we could start well wherever you want. I don’t really care much as to where we go if we’re going to see it anyhow.”
“Alright then, how ‘bout we start at Sugar Cube Corner?”
“Ok, then Sugar Cube Corner it is.”
They both walked about Ponyville, and Flare was enjoying the scenery. Flare waved to the ponies of the village. They kindly swayed back, some started falling for his beauty.
“Say, how long till we reach Sugar Cube Corner?”
“We’re here.”
Flare looked up at the place, and he dropped to the ground and bursted out with laughter.
“Is this food or do my eyes decieve me? There is no way a house made out of food could be around this long, unless all of you are zombies or something!”
“It’s not made out of food, it was built to look nice for the customers.”
“Oh…” Flare said as he stood up from the ground.
Flare had a strange feeling of something behind him. He turned around only to see a group of mares standing around and smiling at him.
“Umm, how may I help you all?”
One mare stood up on her hind legs and shouted, “Get him!”
“Oh boy…”
“Quick Flare, in here!” Spike gestured.
Flare dashed inside, and Spike quickly locked the door. Constant bangs were heard from the gathering of ponies on the outside.
“Man… that was close. Whew.”
“Yeah, that sure was close. I thought we were goners,” Spike said panting.
“Is something wrong?” said orange earth stallion as he made his way to the register.
“Oh good afternoon, Mr Cake. Just showing Flare around Ponyville; he’s the new pony.”
“Ah, I see. Would you like to try some of our cupcakes, Flare?”
“Umm, sure. Do I have to pay?” said Flare lifting up his hoof part way.
“No, no it’s all right. It’s your first day here. Make yourself at home and try some of our delicious cupcakes. Spike you want some too? We have one with ruby toppings,” said Mr. Cake as he hands the cupcake in his hoof over to Spike.
“Oh thanks, Mr. Cake.”
Spike licked his mouth as he drops three bits into Mr. Cakes hoof. He then walks over and sits at a table, and Flare follows and sits on his haunches. They both smile as they bit into their tasty treat.
“Wow, these cupcakes taste amazing,” Flare said finishing his treat; however, Spike didn’t respond as he was too busy ripping his cupcake apart. When Spike finished his treat, he licked his fingers and his mouth. He afterwards slouched down in his seat and let out a sigh of satisfaction.
“Now that... was the best.”
Flare’s eyes scanned the whole bakery. He loved sweets but couldn’t buy any, so he dropped his head onto the table. He then started fiddling with his hooves.
“Hey Spike, do you always follow the rules of Princess Twilight?”
Spike sat up in his chair and looked at Flare.
“Well yeah, of course, I’m Princess Twilight’s number one assistant. I do all of what she asks me to do. Why do you ask?”
“Oh nothing, I was just bored and that thought came to mind, and I also thought you wouldn’t mind me asking.”
“Oh, no problem. So you don’t remember at all where you might’ve came from?”
“I don’t remember. All I do remember is coming out of the crater in the forest, drained out of all my energy. I wish I could remember, but I just… I just can’t.”
“Hmm…” Spike hummed as he scratched his head. There was a moment of silence.
“Do you want to see some more places?” Spike said breaking the silence.
“Nah, I actually don’t feel like doing anything really,” Flare said averting his eyes up at the ceiling.
“Let me ask you, do you do anything else other than being Princess Twilight’s number one assistant?”
“Uh, well…”
“I mean, do you get to go on adventures of your own, or do you travel to other places by yourself?”
“Well sometimes... I’m much safer here anyhow, and I don’t mind helping Twilight and my friends.”
“Friend, you need alot adventure in your life. Take some time off and let’s do some adventures together.”
“I don’t know, Princess Twilight and my friends may need my help. What if I’m not there, what if they need me?” Spike said scratching his head.
Flare put a hoof on the table and gave an expression of determination towards spike.
“Look, I don’t know if I’ll ever remember where I came from but every adventure I’m go on I’ll try to tag you along with me. We’ll be the best of pairs, now put there friend.”
Flare held out his hoof, and Spike smiled fist bumping Flare’s hoof.
“Thanks Flare.”
“No problem buddy.”
“Umm, would you guys like some more cupcakes, or would you like to try our freshly made pie?” Mr. Cake said as he made his way towards them.
“Umm, actually I think I’ll pass. What about you, Spike?”
“Yeah, I’ll pass too. I’m kinda full from that delicious cupcake.”
Flare and Spike got up from the table and left towards the door.
“We’ll see ya next time, Mr. Cake. Tell Mrs. Cake I said hi for me.”
“Will do, Spike,” Mr. Cake said with a smile adorned on his face.
When Flare and Spike reached the door, there were no sound of ponies. Flare looked through the small window and saw not a mare in sight.
“Hmm, guess the coast is clear.”
He opened the door and walked out, and Spike quickly followed behind. They moved about the village scanning to see if any mare was around. Flare got a bit comfortable with village being quiet and sped up towards the library.
“I guess it’s late evening, so that’s probably why no pony is around.”
“I dunno, it’s pretty strange.”
“What do you mean, strange?”
“Well, I mean it at least be a little active even though it’s late in the evening. But I guess it’s just me,” Spike said shrugging his shoulders.
They got inside the library, closed the door, and locked it. Flare looked at all the books of the library again.
“Umm, did Princess Twilight read all these books, or is she just a normal librarian?”
“Yup, she read every one of them.”
“Wow, that’s amazing… where did she get the time to do so?”
“She became a princess recently, she comes here every while or so. But when this place was her home, she used to read daily. Well, it still is her home, but… you know I mean.”
“I see. That’s really amazing. I was curious and wanted to know if she was a normal librarian or one that reads her books,” Flare yawned, looked down at Spike and said, “Umm, do you have a place for me to rest, or is there a place around here where I can sleep for the night?”
“Sure. You could sleep right over here near this bookshelf. I’m sure Twilight wouldn't mind at all.”
“Oh thanks alot, Spike.”
“No problem, Flare. Have a great night,” Spike said as he made his way up the stairs.
“You too buddy.”
Flare went near the first bookshelf near the door. He laid down on his stomach and slept the night away…
