Chapters The day the Deadly Trio (Queen Chrysalis, King Sombra, and Discord) made their alliance, it was too late. Some shit's about to get real if you understand what I'm saying. I get out of bed slowly, so I don't wake my parents who I thought were still fast asleep. My mother is already awake, but staring at the ceiling, and my father is just snoring away. He sounds like an angry bull. It is actually rather humorous.
My mother sits up when she sees me trot by the door and says, "My, Acoustic! You're up early!".
Yes, my name's Acoustic Pulse, I apologize for failing to introduce myself.
"Well, you're up even earlier!", I laugh.
She rolls her eyes good-naturedly and gets up.
My father stirs and sits up, "What's going on? Oh, good morning!".
"I want to join Celestia's Solar Guard, Dad," I tell him.
He glares at me awkwardly. "Are you sure, son? I served 10 years with them, our duty is done!"
He stares at me to make sure I'm listening, "I understand that, but there's some crazy shit going on out there! You've done your duty, dad. Now it's my turn to do mine! I am enlisting and there isn't a damn word you can say that'll change my mind.", I replied sounding like I'd won the argument.
My father just laughs and says, "Agh, shit, son, you remind me so much of myself!".
I smile back and retort, "Got it from you, Dad. I really am going to join, you know that right?".
He nods his head and retorts, "Yeah, I know. Wish I could change your mind. I don't want you to die. I almost died eight fuckin' times. I don't want that happening to you, okay?!".
I trot towards the door, but when I'm in the doorway, I turn around and say, "Well, it won't. I learned from the best.", and continue on.
By the time I'm out the door, I'm in full gallop towards the Recruiting Office, when all of a sudden there's a loud BOOM ! I turn back to see my house go up in a pit of fire and smoldering wood. The explosion sounded like a blast from a unicorn. It definitely wasn't a bomb.
When I look up, there's an entire platoon of Changelings barrel-rolling towards me. I stand my ground, until somepony sneaks up behind me.
"WHAT THE FUCK DID I TELL YOU?! YOU SEE THAT SHIT, SON?! THAT COULD'VE BEEN YOU! YOUR MOTHER IS DEAD NOW! I HOPE YOU'RE FUCKIN' HAPPY WITH THE DECISION YOU JUST MADE!", my father exclaims in a tone of anger I never heard him use before.
I wasn't expecting this information, but from the blast radius of the detonation of the house, I'm not surprised that it killed her. I'm pissed now, so it's on and popping like a carpet made of balloons!
"LET'S DO THIS!", I shout galloping towards them without even thinking of the fact that I'm a pegasus and can just out-run them. My dad shakes his head in disgust and unsheaths two swords he must've picked up from his trunk he used as a soldier. He tossed one to me, and I caught it with my teeth.
I am now just slicing motherfuckers up left and right. I take a couple blows to the head, but still stand. That's when a changeling morphs into my mother. I hesitate and that's when he delivers a third blow to my head. I throw the sword backwards and it jabs into his royal blue eye killing him instantly. I look around at the bloodshed I had just caused.
Just when I thought I was done, there's more and more coming. It's an entire bombardment! I think to myself: 'DAMN! THERE'S SO MANY!', and the saga continues. They're coming by the dozens now. Dad's joined in the fight. It's still no match and we are easily overcome by them.
The Changelings beat and bloodied the two of us and carried us to a remote area which has some sort of prison block. They throw the two of us in it, lock the door, and trot away laughing maniacally. I keep kicking the door, but there's no use.
My father finally speaks up, "You dumbass! Why the hell didn't you run? You knew they'd call reinforcements after you killed 30 of them. I mean seriously, what the fuck, Acoustic?".
I sit there in silence, not saying a word, just leaning against the cell block like I'm at home. My dad once again shakes his head in disgust. I look at the floor and see something shiny glistening from the sunlight breaking through the crevices in the roof.
"No fucking way! They dropped the damn keys? Seriously? Their plan is to keep us captive, not give us an escape route. Oh well, one stallion's stupidity is another's advantage.", I say in surprise. I reach as far as possible but can't quite reach the key.
"Dad, I can't reach the damn key.", I admit after a while.
"Well, no shit.", Dad replies scornfully.
"Look, do you think you can at least try to get us the hell out of here?", I plead.
"Fuck it, it's not like I have anything to do in here.", he replies sarcastically and is barely able to reach the key when he makes a grab for it.
"Hell yeah! I got it!", he said. He unlocks the door and we sneak out the back.
"Damn, where are we?", I ask in complete bewilderment.
"Well, god damn, son, did you even plan what to do after facing those Changelings? You could've been killed yourself. I told you not to join the Solar Guard. But, what do you go and do? Try to join them anyway, now look where we're at. In the middle of no-god-damn-where! We're lucky to be alive, they should have killed us when they had the chance. Now shit is getting real!", Dad rants until I just kick the soap box out from under him.
"Look, shut the fuck up, and let's go!", I shout on impulse not even thinking and run like hell.

Chapter 2: Seeking Vengeance
Okay. To recap what the hell just happened; I said I wanted to join the Royal Guard. Dad thought it was an extremely bad idea, but I did it anyway. Changelings randomly attack and out of all the houses they could've destroyed, they chose mine. My mother is inside and is killed instantly after the roof caves in on her.
My father was chasing after me, so he was okay. I look back to see the house explode. It was from magic. But who? It must've been the Deadly Trio. Who else could it have been? My dad took an alternate route, and ended up behind me. Hence the argument. I get pissed and start kicking ass after he hands me a sword. I'm glad he taught me to use one as a small colt. It had been ages since I used one.
That's when they overpowered and imprisoned us, but the jackasses dropped the keys, so after much struggle, Dad was able to get it. All hell has broken loose. I don't know when things will get better. I just hope that things will someday return to normal. Wherever we were, it was thick with vegetation and wildlife of all sorts. Perhaps it was the Everfree Forest.
I don't know how I'll pull off this quest for revenge, but I'll find a way. Can't be too hard, can it? It's not like I'm going up against the Elements of Harmony. Why would I do that anyway? Friendship is magic, bro. Teamwork makes the dream work.
Now, before I continue with this story of revenge, I warn you of the repercussions from this. It's not good, even though ponies mean well. I'm doing this because I feel I have to, not because I want to. Do you all understand that now? Not gonna lie; I feel bad.
Whoops. I got off on a tangent. Let's get on with Chapter 2, shall we?
My father chases after me. He's in a limbo zone between pissed and confused. We've been roaming around for hours now! It's around 2 or 3PM. Finally, we see an opening in the trees, so the two of us wander towards it. We stumble into a small town. Hustling and bustling, going about their business as usual. When they see us, the citizens look at us like, 'Where the fuck did they come from?!'.
The two of us continue trotting towards the outskirts of town, when we see a sign that says, "WELCOME TO PONYVILLE! ".
"Ponyville! That means we're not too far from Canterlot! Come on, Acoustic. Let's go!", my father says breaking the silence.
I just nod my head and follow closely behind him. We say nothing as we continue our journey towards home...even though there isn't shit left for us in Canterlot, that's all we've got left...and personally, I'm seeking vengeance for what they did to my family. My mother's dead, and my father's halfway between depressed and delusional. Our home is in shambles. I'm ready to kill some motherfuckers! My mother did not deserve to die. I'm not even sure if they've found her body yet. One thing's for damn sure though.
I'm going to avenge her death. Count on it. I refuse to let the fuckers who did this get away with it. I know I sound delusional myself, but hey, she was my mother. I can't just let this go and not have her get the justice she deserves. Damn Trio!
My father looks over at me rather uncomfortably...the look on my face is a look of pure hatred and disgust.
"Son, is there something you want to talk about?", he asks somewhat concerned.
"I'm going to avenge Mom's death, Dad. I'm going to enlist. This is not for me, it's for her. Please, for her sake, not mine, let me enlist," I plead, tears forming in my eyes.
We're quiet for a long time. I didn't think Dad would approve.
He finally speaks. My father sighs deeply, looks up towards the sky and then back to me. His reply is simply, "Go for it!".
We make it back into Canterlot and continue our way towards the Recruitment Office. I look over at him and say, "What are you doing?".
He replies, "Re-enlisting. We're doing this together, son. You want to avenge your mother, so we're avenging her together.".
I smile. Yes, out of all the depression and bloodshed, Dad is able to make me smile. I reply, "Father and Son ass-kickers. Born to beat the shit out of anything that fucks with us.".
Dad chuckles and says, "Well, son, you know I was only upset about your mother's death, right? I take back everything I said before. You're a good son, and I'm glad to have you with me. We're in this together now, you know that? I don't want anything to happen to you, and you don't want anything to happen to me. If I die, you better be ready to commit suicide. We live, breathe, and die together. Understand? Your heart belongs to Canterlot, but your ass belongs to the Guard."
I nod and listen intently, not entirely sure how to respond.
Dad and I continue walking until we're stopped by a recruiter.
"Yes, we are.", Dad says
"Yep.", I add.
"Good. Sign here on this dotted line.", he replies.
The two of us sign the dotted line and enter the building with a bunch of guys about my age.

Chapter 3: Basic Training

Some time later, the Drill Sergeant trots into the bay and speaks in a rather loud voice, "WELCOME TO FORT CANTERLOT! I AM YOUR DRILL SERGEANT! YOU WILL REFER TO ME AS SERGEANT, SARGE, OR DRILL SERGEANT! DO YOU USELESS EXCUSES FOR SOLDIERS UNDERSTAND THAT?!"
My whole platoon, including Dad and I, responded with a booming, "YES, DRILL SERGEANT!".
The Drill Sergeant led us to a room where we were fitted into uniforms and squared away to begin training.
After we were fitted into the uniforms, we were directed to this large obstacle course. This is where myself and my fellow soldiers will do our first drills.
"IT SHOULD TAKE NO LESS THAN 15 SECONDS TO NEGOTIATE THIS FIRST OBSTACLE!
The two Privates seemed to have synchronized vocal cords, because they said: "YES, DRILL SERGEANT! ", at exactly the same time. Them guys took off like lightning struck them. It was amazing. They literally hit the ground running. There were nods of approval waiting at the end when they finished the course in 3 minutes and 45 seconds.
Dad and I were up next. Nervous was an understatement for how I felt at that moment.
"NEXT TWO PRIVATES, MOVE IT! QUICKLY, QUICKLY!", the Drill Sergeant shouted.
We were running at full gallop, jumping over every pit, sliding under every low-lying opening. It was like Camouflage Temple Run!
Dad and I finished the course in 2 minutes and 59 seconds. The Drill Sergeant was noticeably impressed.
"I'll be God damned! You two maggots finished that fucking course in 00:02:59?! You beat the academy record set by Electric Pulse. 10 years ago today, he clocked in at 00:03:01. It was an astonishing achievement. I was in his Basic Training class. I heard his wife died this morning. Such a pity.", he rambled.
"Sergeant, it's me. Electric. This here is my son, Acoustic. We're here to avenge Melody's death. Will you help me?", Dad replied to the seemingly endless ramblings of the Drill Sergeant.
"YOU BET YOUR DAMNED LIFE I WILL! Acoustic, you're in good hooves. Electric Pulse is one the most badass sons of bitches I've ever met.", the Sergeant said turning to me.
"I'm aware of that, Sarge. Requesting permission to end today's training?", I said.
The Drill Sergeant laughed, "We have six more cadets, Private. I will not end this training until then.".
"Understood, Drill Sergeant. ", I answered.
The last six cycled through. We moved on to marching and that's all we did...marching. We marched until it was midnight and they sent us all to the barracks.
This was one night of sleep I never thought I would get. Many things happened too fast for me to understand. To this day, I still don't.

Chapter 4: Deployed
After 6 long and difficult months, we were hardened at the heart and ready for war. Dad was reinstated as a Staff Sergeant, and I was promoted to Private First Class due to my experience with the Colt Cadet Class back in Canterlot Elementary. We were then visited by a stallion wearing battle armor.
"GUYS! WE HAVE TO GET OUR GEAR ON! WE'RE BEING DEPLOYED!", shouted the nervous Specialist.
We saluted, suited up in our Silver Enlisted Armor, sheathed our swords, and galloped to catch up with the other stallions.
An extremely tall white mare with a multicolored mane stood in front of us. I realized right away that it was Princess Celestia. She seemed extremely nervous. To her left was a shorter midnight blue mare, which must've been Princess Luna. She speaks first.
"Fillies and gentlecolts of Celestia's Solar Guard! The time has come for us to fight back against Queen Chrysalis's army of Changelings!
"Thank you, sister. As you all know, King Sombra, Discord, and the Changelings have formed an evil alliance known as 'The Deadly Trio'. THEY MUST BE STOPPED! THEY'VE WREAKED ENOUGH HAVOC IN OUR CITY! IF WE DO NOT STOP THEM NOW, IT WILL SPREAD THROUGHOUT ALL OF EQUESTRIA! LET'S FINISH THEM ONCE AND FOR ALL! FOR EQUESTRIA!", Princess Celestia ranted. We were all pumped by her speech and were ready to fight. We could smell the blood before it even left our enemies' bodies.
As the princesses left, we were all moved to our checkpoints. There were 7 checkpoints: Alicorn, Unicorn, Pegasus, Earth, Crystal, Apple, and Rainbow. Dad and I were assigned to Checkpoint Rainbow. There were only 100 soldiers there, which makes up a Company.
As soon as we got there, we were bombarded, but this time, we were ready.
A stallion runs up to us and starts panicking.
"I'M HIT!", he shouted. The fear in his eyes was obvious. Poor stallion was scared shitless. We immediately begin treating his wounds, which consisted of two deep cuts in his side. When I looked into the stallion's eyes, I realized that he just died right in our face. Holy shit, it was the Drill Sergeant. Another fallen comrade that I'll have to avenge. We leave his body there and move on to fight the changelings. King Sombra and Discord were nowhere to be found, but high above the battle, there was Queen Chrysalis directing her Army.
"ATTACK, MY FRIENDS! LET'S KILL THESE MOTHERFUCKERS!", I shout in an attempt to motivate our dwindling force.
We fly up towards her, killing every Changeling who dared to get in our way. With ground support, we finished off her entire Brigade. Yes, we were outnumbered on a 10:1 ratio.
When we make it up to Queen Chrysalis, we clean the blood off of our swords by splashing it in her face, which most definitely pissed her off.
"I won't go down as easy.", is all she says before she morphs into my mother.
"OH, HELL NO!", I shout as I attack her wildly without even coming up with a plan. She cannot seem to get a hit on me as I slit her throat.
I land back on the ground. The remaining 15 of us return to Fort Canterlot.
"Mission Accomplished.", I say, carrying my fathers body back to where our house used to be. I dig through the rubble and find my mom's body. I go behind my demolished house and bury them together. My only parting words are: "You're safe now.", and I leave Canterlot not even sure where to go now. I just know that there's nothing left for me here. Too many bad memories.
I move on towards the Crystal Empire because I have a feeling something was going on there. I'm not sure how to describe it.
Hopefully, I'm wrong and I can have some peace before my next fight. Haven't had much time to relax since my parents died. But if pain is what the Deadly Duo wants, it's pain their punk ass duet will get. King Sombra and Discord are out there, and they're next on my Shit-List.

I must kill King Sombra. That's all there is to it. Just kill his ass. Discord can wait for now. I don't say anything to anypony I trot past. It's like I'm the only one in Equestria. I am sleep deprived, angry, and my parents are fucking dead.
I continue my long and arduous journey to the Crystal Empire. It'll take a while to get there though. My mood has brightened slightly knowing my parents are free from all the hurt and pain of life.
It took several hours and it is dark when I make it to the Crystal Empire. I keep moving until I cannot move on any further. I fly up onto a cloud where I sleep until morning.
The next morning, I awake to the sound of an explosion. Had to be the work of none other than Sombra. I go to investigate and see nopony in the area of this explosion. I breathe a deep sigh of relief knowing that there were no injuries or deaths from this one. It definitely pissed me off though.
I see a couple with a small colt trotting towards me. They seem upset, probably thinking that I did this, but I don't give a shit because I'm only here to kill Sombra. I know that Discord is not in Canterlot or the Crystal Empire. I wonder where he could be?
"What did you do to our house?!", asked the stallion in a calm, but firm voice.
"As far-fetched as that sounds, it has happened before.", says the mare who was digging through the rubble to salvage any belongings she had left.
"Has it now?", I ask expecting the answer to be 'Yes.'.
"Unfortunately.", says the Stallion.
"Well, I came from Canterlot. I'm here to help you.", I lie not trying to reveal my own self-ambition.
"Help us by saving Princess Cadence and Shining Armor from King Sombra. That will save us from these random acts of violence. I'm begging you.", the stallion pleads.
"I will. Count on it.", I say and trot away towards the castle. I owe them for not being able to save their home. But now, shit's gonna get real again.
On the way to the castle, I form a plan this time, so I know it won't fail. Kill Sombra, Save the Empire. That's my plan.
I look around at the destruction in downtown. I see that the Crystal Heart is surprisingly still there. It's probably a trap, but just in case, I'm gonna check it out anyway.
Upon reaching the Crystal Heart, I am attacked by an unseen force. I automatically guess Sombra. I fly up to get a look and my expectations were correct. There he was standing on the roof of the castle.
"You're a brave one to approach me, Pegasus.", Sombra says.
"Am I really? ", I ask.
"Brave, but stupid. What is it that you want from me? You're not from here are you?", he interrogates.
"Nope. I'm from Canterlot. And I'm here to kill you. Just like I did to Chrysalis.", I answer, reliving the moment in my mind.
"Well, then kill me.", he says mockingly.
He blasts me with his unicorn magic and it scrapes my shoulder. I dodge before it does anymore damage to me and I unsheath my sword, which hurts my shoulder a little. I fly in a zigzag and slice off his horn and he cries out in pain.
I honestly didn't expect it to be this easy, but then it's hoof-to-hoof combat. I put my sword away since I will no longer need it in the fight. I take many hits to the face and stomach, and I'm surprised I haven't been knocked out yet. I am dizzy, but pretty much unscathed, besides the bloody nose and shoulder gash.
Sombra is surprised by this.
"You're a strong one, Pegasus. A very strong one.", he laughs.
"I reckon I'll take credit where credit is due.", I retort.
"It's a shame I have to kill you, Pegasus. This is the most fun I've had in days.", he chuckles thinking I was down for the count.
Hoof-to-Hoof combat continues. We've both knocked each other senseless. We're both bleeding, and both of our egos have been knocked down a few pegs.
Y'know, I'm legitimately reconsidering killing this guy. He has a sense of humor---NAH! Let's finish him, shall we?
"I'm glad you had fun. Now, you'll die smiling. ", I say, spitting blood out of my mouth from a busted lip.
I take out my sword. I know it's wrong of me to kill somepony who's unarmed, but he definitely made himself a combatant. I take a deep breath and as Sombra attempts to tackle me, I decapitate him. Blood spurts everywhere, like somepony dropped red food coloring in a fountain.
I almost forgot my promise to rescue Princess Cadence and Prince Shining Armor. Shit!
"PRINCESS CADENCE? PRINCE SHINING ARMOR?", I shout trying to find them.
"WE'RE IN THE DUNGEON! THERE'S A SPELL ON THE LOCK! I CAN'T REVERSE IT!", Cadence calls.
"I'll see what I can do.", I say.
Upon entering the dungeon, I see that this is from Sombra's magic.
"I have an idea.", I say to them and go outside to find Sombra's horn.
I found it on the roof, which is where I left it. I return to the dungeon.
"Now, I'm just spitballing here. I'm not guaranteeing that this'll work.", I warn them.
"Try it.", says Shining Armor who hasn't spoken the whole time.
"You got it.", I reply. I stick the broken horn into the keyhole and turn it to unlock the door. Lo and behold, it works. Genius Acoustic strikes again.
"Thank you. We owe you one.", Shining shakes my hoof and hugs Cadence.
"You two get this empire up and running again. I'll handle Discord.", I say as I leave the castle.
I fly to where I last saw the family. They were still there.
"I did it. The Prince and Princess are safe. Sombra is dead.", I tell them.
"You have our thanks.", the stallion replies.
"Yes, thank you.", the mare adds.
"You're welcome. Now I must go. It was nice meeting y'all. ", I wave goodbye and fly away before they could respond.
Discord is all that remains. But where the hell is he?!

Where the hell is Discord? My first guess is Ponyville, so that's where I'm going next. It'll take even longer to get there though. Maybe a day. It'll most definitely take a while.
I move steadily towards Ponyville. It took all afternoon, but at dusk, I make it to Ponyville. I find another cloud to sleep on.
When I wake up, it's raining. But the rain is chocolate. I only know of one being in Equestria that can do that.
I hear his childish laughter. "CHAOS IS A WONDERFUL THING, EVERYPONY!", he shouts. He's gonna be hardest to kill because of his ability to distort all of reality.
I think and try to rationalize a plan. It will take great skills to do this without the Elements of Harmony. He was an ally of Chrysalis, therefore he shall not be treated harmoniously. This lizard-looking motherfucker deserves nothing but a brutal death, like his comrades. I finally come up with my plan. Kill Discord, Save Equestria.
"Oh, a worthy adversary? ", Discord asks when he sees me.
"Yes, and the reason behind your demise.", I answer.
"So you think you can kill the Spirit of Chaos?", he doubts
"Let's find out.", I say and I unsheath my sword. Discord laughs and snaps his fingers.
A twig turns into a sword and we begin our duel. I slice at him, but he dodges and cuts my leg.
"Nice one...", I compliment him, wincing in pain.
"Wasn't it?", he replies, his arrogance angering me.
"My turn, my friend.", I retort and slice his face, his one tooth falls onto the ground.
"That was my only tooth!", he exclaims.
"My bad.", I say sarcastically. We kick each other's asses. It's not a fight, it's a massacre, so to speak.
"That's quite alright. It is not like I lost my head.", he laughs.
"Not yet.", I say under my breath. The sword fight continues.
Finally, I gain the upper hoof and I cut off his arm. His sword falls to the ground, but he quickly retrieves it with his remaining arm.
"Oww, you disarmed me!", he jokes. Yes, he makes a pun about losing his arm.
I continue to fight him and he cuts my shoulder in the exact same place where Sombra blasted me. The wound is reopened and it begins to bleed again. The pain is unbearable.
"Heh. You almost disarmed me.", I counterjoke.
"Yes, yes. It was rather humorous, wasn't it?", he chuckles.
"Not as funny as this.", I say as I sever his other arm.
"Now I'm completely disarmed. ", he jokes, but it's not funny the 3rd time.
"For fuck's sake, shut up!", I shout.
He smirks, not even paying attention to the fact that he's bleeding to death.
"You are too fun!", Discord says.
I have finally had enough of his shit.
"Well, guess what?", I ask mockingly.
"What?", Discord replies wih a question.
"This!", I shout as I sever his wings. The pain from my gash is excruciating. I bandage it with a piece of cloth from a torn banner.
Discord falls flat on his face. He finally shows signs of fear.
"I'll be damned. I can't fly.", he panics.
"Now to finish you.", I reply and I slice him in half. I then realize that the Trio has officially been reduced to Zero. Equestria is saved.
Defeating Discord is all that I had to do. It felt good knowing that Equestria is safe. I decided to stay in Ponyville. It's a nice little town when it's not being bombarded by evil forces.
And that's my life story.
The Deadly Trio is gone, Equestria is free from evil, and I can now move on with my life.
I look back to all the things that happened. My parents died, my enemies died, I almost died...multiple times. It took forever for me, but I got my vengeance. The good kind of vengeance that was used for a noble cause, be it lethal or nonlethal.
I am glad that I can finally settle down and continue my life. Maybe I can go back to my music career, or back to the Solar Guard. I'll just go back to my guitar. I have to compose something new. Haven't done it in ages. I am excited. I suppose I'll have to discuss this on another day. Today, I celebrate a job well done.
6 months didn't go to waste. I avenged their deaths like I promised and I saved Equestria Words cannot describe my hapiness.
I go to Canterlot long enough to discharge from the Solar Guard and then I return to Ponyville. I have decided to pursue my career as a guitarist.
I will need to find a job to buy a new guitar and a new house...my life has to start over. Almost like a reset button, except my parents are still dead.
I will get over this loss soon, hopefully and move on. I know I can do it. I've seen many ponies recover from losses similar to mine.
Life has its ups and downs, but it will always even out, and you are your own life's balance beam, so to speak.
