The Night Of The Gala. The Start Of A New Relationship

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

I sat there waiting in front of Cheerilee's place enjoying the cool night air and clear sky, showing the moon at it's full glory, sporting the tux that Rarity had made for me. I took a look my mirror before I left and I couldn't help but notice that I looked pretty sharp. Grinning I knocked on her door and waited. I heard hoofsteps quickly approach the door and the unchaining of a few locks and bolts. The door opened to reveal Cheerilee looking as normal as ever.

"Jason your hea-" she said, stopping midsentence as she took a look at me."J-Jason, you look amazing!" she said, looking at me the way a fat person would look at cake.

"Uh, th-thanks." I replied.

"Come in, please." She said. I nodded and followed her inside.

"Sorry if the place is a bit cluttered, I was about to get ready."

"It's ok, I'm curious to see you in your dress." I said.

"I'll be out in a bit, feel free to sit and enjoy yourself for a bit."

"Okay."

I walked over and sat down on her couch as she headed into her back room to get dressed. While I waited, I began to ponder what tonight's events would bring. Tonight was the night of the Gala, and to be frank, I was a little nervous. I'd never been to any kind of dance or ball before and my brother's comment about mare's trying to hound me, had me a bit worried as well. I'd recently been taking some dancing lessons from Rarity, one of my brother's wives and I found I was surprisingly good at it, and Rarity had commented on it, saying that I was definitely more talented than Alan in that area. She told me that she had tried to teach him to dance but realized soon after that he was pretty much a lost cause. I looked around and thought back to the past few days that Cheerilee and I had spent together.

I never once thought that I would end up in a place like Equestria, let alone in a relationship with a pony like Cheerilee. The past few days had been a blast too, especially when Cheerilee took me to see everything that Canterlot had in store. It was great. We went to an orchestral concert and I really enjoyed being able to sit with her lying her head on my shoulder when the orchestra began to play a love song. I could feel every note hit a chord in my heart as I stared at her. After Canterlot, she brought me to a spot she called her special spot. It was a large stone outcropping near a glistening waterfall. It had a perfect view of Ponyville and Cloudsdale, and I found it quite serene considering it was nighttime and the light of the moon was shining on the waterfall, cascading us in it's glorious light.

We ended up falling asleep in eachother's arms as we watched the stars in the night sky twinkle and shine, our own personal show. Those three days made me realize what a wonderful place Equestria was and what a wonderful mare I had found. I hadn't realized that while I was reminiscing, Cheerilee had finished changing and was waiting for me to notice, albeit with a slightly annoyed look.

"Jason? Hello? Anyone in there?" she asked.

"Hu-wha, oh, hey. Sorry, I got a little caught up remembering the past few days." I said. That seemed to cheer her up considerably.

"Well what do you think of my dress?" she asked, a slight blush on her face.

I looked her over and my jaw dropped. She was wearing a deep magenta dress that went from her upper midsection, down her body and fell just to the bottom of her tail. Her mane was done up in a fancy way along with her make up so much so that I believed I was staring at an angel. She had on a light pink eyeshadow that brought out her eyes in a way that made me want to cry at such beauty.

"Jason, um, are you okay?" she asked.

"I think I'm dead, how else would I be staring at an angel?" I replied.

"Wow Jason, that was pretty cheesy, even from you, but thank you, your so sweet." she replied, her blush intensifying a bit.

"S-so are you ready to go?" I asked.

"Of course." She replied as I stood up and reached out a hand, which she gladly grabbed with her hoof. We walked out of her home, closing the door and locking it. We strolled down the path and into town to my brother's place. We were to meet up with them as they would be attending as well.
As we walked I couldn't help but stare at Cheerilee in the moonlight. It glistened off her coat and dress in such a spectacular way that I found myself captivated. I had a harder time keeping my eyes off her and on the path we were taking, and when she would notice me staring, I'd blush and turn away. I swear I could see her smile through the corner of my eye. After walking a while, we came upon my brother's home. Smiling, I walked, hand in hoof with Cheerilee up to the door and knocked. I heard Rarity yell she'd be down in a minute.

After about two, the door opened, revealing Rarity in an extravagant gown that brought out every one of her characteristics.

"Oh, Hello Darling, I'm glad you made it, Alan and the other's are almost ready." She said as she lead us in.

"And just so you know, we'll be meeting the Princesses at the Gala, they had to leave so they could greet the ponies who are showing up."

"Understandable." I replied as I sat down on one of my brother's many sofa's. I smiled and wrapped my arm around Cheerilee as she sat down with me. She sighed happily as she laid her head on my shoulder.

"You know, You've made me the happiest mare in existence." she said.

"Yeah?"

"Just remember, if you do happen to want anypony else to join us in a herd, I'll remain your main Mare." She said, determination coming through with each word she spoke.

"I promise."

"Good. I love you." she replied.

I felt my heart stop for a moment.

That was the first time since we got together that she had told me she loved me, and we had only been together a month. I smiled and hugged her tightly, conveying as much feeling into it as I could.

"I love you too." I said smiling happily.

"Well looks like you too are enjoying yourselves." Alan said as he came down the stairs.

"I guess we are." I replied as I grinned down at Cheerilee as she smiled back at me, planting a quick kiss.

"So are you guys ready to go?" I asked.

"Yup. There should be three carriages waiting for us outside right now." He replied.

"I want a carriage, just for me and Jason." Cheerilee said.

"Sure thing. We were planning on it anyway, we figured you two would want to ride together and spend some time alone."

I smiled again for like, the fourteenth time tonight. Once everypony was downstairs, we walked out and sure enough, three pony drawn carriages where waiting for us. Cheerilee and I took the one in the back and sat close. I could feel pure warmth and happiness coming off her as she once again laid her head on my shoulder.

"Have I ever told you how comfortable your shoulder is?" she said.

"Hmm, I wasn't aware." I said, chuckling as the carriage's began moving.

* * *

I opened the carriage door and got out, holding out my hand for Cheerilee as she got out. She looked up at the castle with a look of wonder. We once again walked, hand in hoof with Alan and the others, up to the door and walked inside. The castle had been decorated quite nicely with banners and colors that brought out the grandeur of the occasion. I looked down at Cheerilee and smiled at the look of wonder and happiness on her face.

To be honest, I never thought I'd end up anywhere near a ball of any kind, so it was surprising to me too. It took me a minute before I realized we were just standing there, staring. The others had already gone to meet the Princesses at the top of the stairs, where I saw my brother lovingly kiss them in front of everypony there. I heard sigh's and "awwwwww's" all around. I walked with my marefriend until we reached the top steps.

"Ah, Jason, We are glad you could make it." Luna said happily.

"Yes, as am I. And remember, any family of Alan's is family of ours, and as such, you are aloud to visit and stay in the castle any time you please." Celestia said.

"Thanks, now if you don't mind, I think we're going to go check out the rest of this ball." I replied.

"Don't stray too far Jason, the dance will be starting soon." Alan said as he walked away with his wives.

We walked around the castle quite a bit until we came upon the gardens. I think saying they were beautiful would be an understatement. I looked up and I could see the stars and moon clearer than we could ever see before. I looked down and could see the light of the moon glinting off Cheerilee's eyes. We stood there and gazed at the stars for about an hour before we heard the music start. It was a slow song.

"Cheerilee?"

"Yes?"

"Would you like to dance?" I asked.

"I-I'd love too." She said, blushing.

I lifted her up a bit and placed one hoof in my hand and another on my back. Thank Celestia I took dancing lessons with Rarity. We began to move a little at first, getting used to the feel of dancing with one another. After a minute, we picked up the pace and began twirling around eachother fluidly, mirroring eachother's movements as though we had done this for years. I stared intent and lovingly into her eye's as she stared back. I could see all the love I had for her mirrored back at me as she smiled, her blush still evident on her cheeks. As the song hit it's climax, I leaned down, capturing her lips in a passionate kiss that could light the sky on fire. She pushed into and wrapped her hooves around me, pulling me closer to her as we fell back onto the ground, lips still connected, tongues entwined.

It was pure bliss.

"Um, I hope I'm not interupting anything."

"Whaaah!!!" we both yelled as we jumped up off the ground to find a light peach colored mare with a maroon mane with a lighter pink shade highlight. She had a rose for a cutie mark.

"U-uh, no you uh, weren't interupting anything." we both replied, faces flushed.

"I'm Roseluck, if you were wondering, and to be honest, I was uh, wondering if I could join you." She said as a blush grew on her cheeks.

"W-What?!" We both replied, shocked.

"I-I mean, I won't if you don't want me to, but I saw you around Ponyville and well, I kind of like you." she said, twirling her hoof in the grass in a Fluttershy like manner. I looked at Cheerilee. She leaned in and whispered into my ear.

"You know, she doesn't look half bad. And this might be a good experience for you. You could learn what a herd is all about."

"Are you sure?" I whispered back.

"I'm fine. I just want you to be happy." She replied.

"Um, well I don't see why you can't join us." I said, turning to Roseluck.

"R-Really?!? Your going to let me make a herd with you!" she said, happiness spreading acrossed her face.

"If it's what you really want, then there's no reason not to include you." Cheerilee replied with a smile.

Roseluck ran forward and tackled me, much like Cheerilee had.

"Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!!!!!" she said as she planted her lips on mine. I lost myself in her kiss for a minute, enjoying the rosey scent she carried with her. She broke the kiss a moment later.

"Someponies happy." I replied with a grin.

We all began laughing toghether. The rest of the night was a blast. Eating with friends, marefriends and family. Now that I think back on it, I'm really beginning to like this world. So what in hell, could possibly go wrong, when surrounded by such happiness.
