The next day...
The suns rays were shining down on me, both waking me up, and indicating that it was morning time. I actually slept really well last night, despite how suddenly my life has changed. Instead of sleeping on a hard, cold mattress. I slept on a warm, plush bed. Which was one benefit I was really going to enjoy. Which brought my mind to the other benefits, I got to stay here for free, with food and the works, and my only bosses are the Princesses. Now, that's great and all, but from personal experience, I knew something could never be this good, without something being really bad. What that was? I have yet to find out, but something tells me that something is soon.
I quickly get out of bed, and head for the door. Said door has a note on it. It was from Princess Celestia. It had said to come meet her in her personal room when I was done with breakfast, conveniently enough, there was a map to her personal room on the back of the note. I could agree to that plan, seeing as how I didn't eat anything in the past 24 hours. As I started to head towards the dining room, I noticed that the castle is pretty empty. Except for the occasional maid or two doing morning cleaning that had said hello to me, which I happily returned.
Much to my happiness, and surprise. When I got to the dining room, all the food was laid out right for me, hay sandwiches and the works all laid out, just for me apparently. As the dining room was also empty. Something that I thought was pretty weird, but I put that to the back of my mind, as I started to dig in. The food was delicious, my compliments to the chef. Not wanting to keep a Princess waiting, I quickly finish eating and start to head towards Princess Celestia's personal room, the Sanctum of the Sun.
Now, Princess Celestia's personal room was way different than any other room in the castle. First, the floor in the throne room was glass. You can't really see it, but it's there. There were also no walls. Just, what looked like bright yellow clouds sweeping by you, coming from all directions. If you tried to touch them, you'll see a ripple emanating from it, as if you were lightly dipping a hoof in water. Finally, there was a yellow/orange light coming from the center of the room, only that it was being somewhat blocked by Princess Celestia herself.
"Sweet room you've got." I said, making my presence known.
"I know, but lets get to the chase, shall we?" Princess Celestia remarked. As the roles from yesterday has seemingly reversed.
"Right, so, what do you got for me?" I asked. Getting ready for whatever was coming next.
"You see, you'll be part of well...." Celestia paused, "A secret service. Equestria may seem like a paradise for ponies, and it is. But underneath the service, there are ponies, and other creatures that seek to destroy the peace that I have worked for over a thousand years to achieve. I am a busy Princess, thus I don't have the time to deal with them. That's where you come in. You do as I say, without question, quietly and with discrete. Do you understand me?"
"I do." I answered, with very little hesitation
"Good." Celestia replies, a satisfied smile now adorning her lips. "Now there are only 7 other ponies that have agreed to this, you'll meet your specific partner in a moment. You will meet the rest later on. Are we clear?"
"Yes." I reply once again, feeling my heart racing a bit faster, and some nervousness actually creeping upon me.
"Now without further ado, I'd like to introduce to you, Platinum."
A gray unicorn mare crept out from the back of Celestia's chair.
"Hello there, nice to meet you, Volt." She said with a smile.
The first thing I noticed about Platinum was her mane and tail, it was just like her coat, gray, but a bit more, sparkly. She also had nice, vibrant green eyes. She had an straight, unreadable face, as if she was trying to read me, but with a smile too it. She was actually rather a pretty mare, if I do say so myself. Her cutie mark was simply a gray unicorn horn, so I assumed that she was pretty great at doing magic.
"It's nice to meet you too Platinum." I greeted back, with a smile of my own.
"Nice to see you two getting along so much already," Celestia commented. "Platinum, if you please, I still have a matter to discuss with our friend Volt here,"
"Of course, your majesty." Platinum replied, exiting the room quietly.
Once the door was closed, I turned my attention back to Princess Celestia.
"Now that you have met your partner, I have something else for you to do." Celestia said.
"What's that?" I asked. It was still the morning time, but I was already pretty tired.
"You see, at midnight, I need you to meet Princess Luna. You have your newly realized abilities, and now you need to learn how to use them, and my younger sister is the perfect person to train you with your powers," Celestia said.
"I understand," I replied, knowing why this would have to be done.
"Now go rest up." Celestia said, "You can't be tired when it's time to train."
"I will," I responded, wanting to get some shut-eye.
After leaving the room, I took my time going back to my room, to sleep, and to ultimately get ready for a date with Princess Luna, but before that would happen. I ran back into Platinum on my way back.
"Good luck with Princess Luna rookie, you'll need it" Platinum said, with a somewhat smug smile on her face.
"Heh, my first official day working, and I've already got a nickname, but I wouldn't be so smug. You haven't met a person like me before." I said, confidence evident in my voice.
"I could say the same thing to you rook." Platinum said, walking by me, but not before wiggling her tail across my face. Earning a blush from me.
The rest of the trot went by pretty fast, as I reached my room. One of Luna's night guards were waiting for me. He explained where exactly I would be meeting the Lunar Princess. Which was in the Canterlot Royal Garden. Which was at the back of the castle. After that little run-in. I went into my room and got some more shut eye.
It was around 7 PM when I woke up. Waking up at night was not a problem for me, as I used to work with the night-time weather squad. Since there were a few hours before I needed to meet Princess Luna, I decided to fully explore the castle. There were guards and maids doing what they do. One thing I noticed was that the walls were decorated a certain way in certain areas. The front of the castle was golden and white, the back of the castle, near the gardens was purple and dark blue. The color coding with the Princess was a really nice touch in my opinion. And at the Northeastern side, the walls were pink with hearts running across. I couldn't pinpoint what that belonged too, but I put it aside as it was time to meet Princess Luna.
