Liquid Thunder
One Year Later

One year later.....
It had been a year since the incident with the thunder and lightning. Since then, a lot has changed. My sister became a wonderbolt and continued family tradition, My father had passed away due to illness, and I finished school and like most Pegasus, I became a member of the weather team. It didn't pay a particular lot, but enough to put a roof over my head and food to eat. There has also been strange happenings while working with the weather, at certain times, my ears will twitch. For what reason? I didn't know... yet. Now lets take a look at where my new life began.
It, or rather, I was in Cloudsdale. I was going to Cloudsdale Memorial Stadium to see a wonderbolts show. On my salary, it wasn't something I could afford to do very often, but since it was my sisters first show, I ended up getting free tickets and a backstage pass from Bright Spot. I went in to the stadium, sat down, and took in my surroundings. There we Pegasus ponies as far as the eye could see. Off all different shapes, colors, and sizes. Yet, of all that. There was one thing that caught my attention the best.
Princess Celestia, and Princess Luna. The two fearless rulers of Equestria in Cloudsdale, right now, for a wonderbolts show. Seeing the two regal ponies was simply awe-inspiring. I couldn't stare at them for too long, as the show was about to begin. As they introduced the wonderbolts one by one, nobody cheered louder than I did when they announced my ever so dear sister. There were twists and turns, loopty loops and the crowd, the princesses included, loved every minute of it.
When the show was over, I quickly went backstage to meet up with Bright Spot in the hallways. She was currently signing autographs for fans. When she signed the last one, I turned to talk with her.
"How'd it feel?" I asked nonchalantly.
"It felt GREAT, at first I was totally nervous, but as the show went on, I think I felt more comfortable." She said as she wiped the sweat off her brow.
I was about to congratulate her on a job well done, when something very unexpected happened.
"Hello there, my little ponies." Celestia and Luna were walking up to me and Bright Spot.
"Hello," Luna said, as she gave her regards.
"You did a splendid job out there." Celestia said as she congratulated my sister, "And to think that was just your first show, I can sense many great things in your future,"
"Thank you Princess," My sister, blushing, replied.
"And who is this standing next to you?" Celestia asked, obviously referring to me.
"Oh, this is my brother, Volt." As Bright Spot introduced me to to the Princess.
"Nice to meet you, Princess Celestia." I said to keep up my manners.
"Good to meet you too, Volt." She said, looking back to my sister. Oddly enough, Luna just stood there quietly.
As my sister and Princess Celestia kept making small talk. I looked around my surroundings. I see that the hallway was empty, save for me, my sister, and the princesses. I looked at Princess Luna. She looked back at me, and gave me a smile. Like she knew something I didn't. Which was more than likely true, as she has been alive for hundreds of years, but this smile felt... different. Like she knew something about me that I didn't know she knew about. Like she was waiting for something. I was snapped out of my thoughts by the voice of Princess Celestia.
"Well then, if you must leave. I enjoyed our conversation, Bright Spot," Celestia said.
"I did too." My sister replied as she walked away.
As soon as as she was out of vision, Princess Celestia spoke up.
"Volt, was it?" She asked, "Could you follow me for a bit?"
I had no idea what she wanted of me, but there was no way I was going to deny a sun goddess of what she wanted, and to be honest. I was kind of scared, scared out of my mind.
"Sure." I replied, trying to not sound as scared as I was. Apparently that didn't work.
"No need to be scared, young one." Celestia said as she and her younger sister started to lead me out the hallway. So it was how my mother had said. Mares could smell fear.
We went out of the hallway, and out of Cloudsdale Memorial Stadium. We were met outside by the Royal Guard. All of which, were obviously Pegasi. They turned attention to me, and Luna quickly mumbled something into the who I assume was the captain's ear, when she was finished. He nodded and we began to fly off towards Canterlot.
The trip towards Equestria's capital city was one that was extremely uneventful. Quiet too, as I was too scared to say anything, for fear of offending the Princesses. Why? I don't really know, nor do I knew why they were taking me to Canterlot. Celestia said there was no need to be scared, but why wouldn't I be? The rulers of an entire country are specifically taking me and me alone to Canterlot. I could only wonder what they were thinking. Soon, we had arrived at our destination. Canterlot, more specifically, Canterlot Castle.
I wish you could see the place for yourself. It is massive, and that's just looking at it from the outside, the castle itself is snow white with Gold painted all over the doors, windows and the Columns up front. It was truly a castle fit for a ruler, or rulers. Which would explain the size of the place. I stared in awe, but once again, Celestia snapped me out of it with the sound of her regal voice.
"It's truly a great castle, is it not?" She asked, I could only nod as I continued to look at the magnificent palace. "Well then, right this way young man." She said as she and her still quiet sister led me into the castle. Once inside, my jaw once again dropped. The place was as painted white with Gold decor as far as the eye could see, but alas, I wasn't here to sight see. The royal pony sisters began to lead me through the main parts of the castle, which consisted of the dining room, the main hallway, and the eventually the Throne room. Which is where we came to a stop. Feeling brave after I've made it this far, I decided to finally speak up.
"So, lets cut to the chase, shall we?" I said, "Why did you bring me here?"
Celestia seemed somewhat taken back at first, but her face grew into a sly smile, closed her eyes, and began to speak.
"I like the way you think, young one," Celestia continued, "So, I assume you know how you got your cutie mark?"
"No, I don't know how I got my cutie mark," I replied.
"Well I do," Celestia Continued, "You see, ponies have the inexplicable talent of naming their children after their talents, you see. When you got hit by that lightning-"
"Wait," I interrupted her, "How did you know I got struck by lightning?" I asked, totally perplexed by this new discovery.
"That's something that I'll save for you another time, Volt." She said.
"But..."
"But nothing," Celestia said. A stern look now took over her facial features.
I quieted down, and let Celestia continue.
"Now, as I was saying," Celestia began, "Cutie marks are a sign of a ponies special talent, as I am sure that you know."
I nodded and let her continue.
"Your special talent Volt, is lightning. When you got hit by that lightning bolt, it...well. Lack for a better word. It fused with you, and you became one, like. It's part of your DNA. Which explains your twitchy ears." She explained. "Now, you can generate lightning through your body. You must use it with great responsibility." She added, with the old cliche at the end.
"I see," I replied, showing her I was listening.
"Now, I want to ask you something, If I may," Celestia said.
"Sure"
"You see, with your newly recognized prowess, and flying ability, I would like you to join... an agency, one that's been hidden from the rest of Equestria," Celestia continued, "You'll answer to me and Luna, and only me and Luna. You won't get paid in monetary value, but you'll be allowed to stay in this castle, and most of your expenses will be paid, so. What do you say?"
I took the time to think it over, leave my admittedly terrible job for a life of luxury? Well, maybe not all luxury. Since she didn't specify what exactly I would be doing for her, but if she's hand picking me for the job, I must be able to handle this. So, my answer was easy.
"I'll do it" I said to Celestia.
"Excellent, now. It's getting late, and my duty of putting the sun down can't be held off for any longer. Feel free to sleep in any unoccupied room, I'll send the guards to your old home for your things. Get some rest, as tomorrow, you'll get to meet the ponies you'll be working with. As well as a short meeting with Princess Luna as to what you'll be doing, okay? Celestia had said, as she now started to head towards wherever she went to raise the sun.
There was a lot of things going through my mind. What I had just agreed to, my old job with the weather team, and what I would be doing once I got settled, but most of all. Sleep. I quickly trotted into a room upstairs, and slept the rest of the night away. Preparing for the hectic that that would come tomorrow.
