Chapter two: A string of oddities.

As I was waking up I recognized the familiar smell of omelets. I slowly shifted up to a sitting position, man that cot was not meant for prolonged stays for someone of my size. While popping my back I decided to go ahead and say hello to my strange host. "Uhm, good morning, I am terribly sorry to impose but where is your restroom?"

"Oh good morning being, need you go relieving?" She motioned to a small area with some some walls and a door. I nodded thanks to her and went to do my business.

"So what is it exactly that you do around here?" I asked without even thinking about it, for all I knew she could be like me and not have any idea where we are, but then I remembered her saying something about an apothecary, not wanting to look like and idiot I just let her continue talking without correcting myself.

"I am a potion brewer, nothing is truer." I took that in stride not fully understanding what it is that she meant exactly. I then got curious as to her food, as far as I knew zebras did not typically eat eggs, I proceeded to ask about her diet.

"Do please tell me...Zecora was it? Your diet seems a bit strange from what I know about zebras they do not typically eat eggs."

I tried to say that as tactfully as I could, but hey not everyone can be so good at being polite.

"Tell me non equine, where do you resign?" She answered my question with a question, great frowning slightly I answered her.

"I come from the United States Of America, to be more specific Montana." Now it was her turn to frown a little.

"I have never heard of this place, do tell, what is your race?" At this point I was getting a bit afraid, what was going on here?

"I am a human also known as Homo sapiens." I was now very worried, what if I during my bike ride I hit my head and this was all some really vivid dream or maybe some kind of wicked hallucinatory drug.

"Are you okay human, you seem a bit horror stricken?" She now had a quizzical face it seemed to have a, please don't faint again, you were heavy, look on it.

"I-I-I am fine." I decided that freaking out would not help out my situation at all. I now began to wonder if she knew of any other sentient beings. "Tell me zecora, are there any other intelligent races out here?" I said every few words between mouthfuls of omelet.

"Oh yes many, we have the zebras, the griffins, the minotaurs, and the pony." I thought that one was a bit far for her whole rhyming thing.

"Well that is...quite a few, how accepting of a..er.. being like me would the be?" I hoped I would not have to be here for a long time but I may as well try to get on good grounds with some of the ponies here...I tired to say ponies... peonies, that is getting out of hand! I noticed that Zecora was trying to get my attention, I felt a bit rude so I decided to tell her about my speech predicament. After she told me about the ponies here of course...

"I'm sorry zecora I got a bit lost in thought there for a moment. You were saying?"

"Ah yes, thank you, now concentrate, or I will be irate. Those ponies while cheery, will be quite quite leery." She looked quite stern while saying this, I got the distinct feeling that she had experienced some of that said leeriness. Thinking about it now I realized that she took me in rather quickly was she just very accepting, or perhaps due to her experiences she knew what it was like to be an outsider and not have anyone care for you?

...Crap she is looking at me again, she seems a little angry."Er sorry about that I get lost in thoughts a lot."

"No you're quite alright, just not very bright." She said with a small smirk on her face, now I began to wonder on how it is that I began to understand her facial expressions so well I mean they all seemed fairly obvious, but it still puzzled me.She was face-palming...er...hoofing again...

"I'm sorry Zecora, what were you saying?" I did my best to look as sincere as possible.

"I asked for your designation you abomination." She had a small smile on her face but I knew I was annoying her. Okay no more wandering thoughts, no more wandering thoughts, waffles, no more wandering thoughts...mmm waffles, err I mean no more wandering thoughts.

"My name is Christoph, but most ponies just call me Chris. Also my vocabulary has..changed a bit I keep trying to say one thing but it continues coming out as another, I would try to demonstrate but without the ability to use such words, well it is kind of impossible."

"That must be frustrating, sorry it is so grating." She looked genuinely sorry for me, I guess I have a friend in this strange place then, that's nice. "If we are going to introduce you to the ponies, then no more dilly dallies." I now wore a look of pure unadulterated fear, what if they reacted harshly and forever wished me dead or gone. Remembering that she said they were nice I calmed a little...not enough to be to noticeable though.

The walk through the woods was fairly peaceful, we only heard a few birds and saw some small creatures scurry by. I was getting more and more anxious by the minute, I was afraid of two things.

1.What if I am stuck here forever?

2.If I am stuck here forever, what if they don't like me?

Doing my best to stick those things out of my mind I decided to ask how much longer we had, she simply raised a hoof in front of her and did what I can only assume was point, I looked forward and noticed that we were not but only about 100 yards from a small town looking area.

A we entered the town, we gathered a lot of stares from the ponies, and I mean a lot, what stuck me as odd was just how brightly colored all of them were, then of course was the fact that some of these ponies had horns, what purpose could those possibly serve? Zecora began to speak.

You who is new, what do you wish to do?"

"I am actually still a little hungry, I don't suppose we could get a bite to eat? Sorry if that is a lot to as for." I asked her pretty sheepishly about the food, I felt really bad what with her taking me in and feeding me already, but she then began to smile almost... mischievously, I had a bad feeling.

She began to speak with an all new form of vigor. "Oh I know what you need, let us move with great speed!" She began a slow trot towards what looked like an enormous gingerbread house with a cupcake on top.

As we made our way in I say a very bright pink pony moving about some cupcakes. She looked at us and immediately gasped and just kind of zoomed out of sight. I have no idea how any being is capable of such movement. All Zecora did was smile at this. She told me she had some things to do now and that I should just stay here, great.

While she was gone I thought I would go ahead and see what was in my pockets, a paperclip, two sticks of bubblegum, some folded up paper and a nubby pencil.( I like to do some poetry now and then sue me. ) I figured I would go ahead and write some while I was here alone with nothing to do.

Oh a new land

what a bold stand.

to these equine

I must seem the opposite of benign.

How I wish to be home

in my little safety dome.

Upon finishing that I just kind of dozed off waiting for zecora, it was a fit-full sleep.
