The next day, McSpy and Gadget awoke and walked down to a bakery that was next to the casino. Both ponies grabbed a muffin and sat down at a table.

“Alright kid, here’s the plan; you will go back up to the hotel room and link a computer to the spy cam on these glasses, then I will infiltrate the casino, I’ll walk around and you notify me if anything comes up, got it?” McSpy explained quietly, so that no pony could hear the plan.

“Yes sir!” Gadget yelled with a mouth full of muffins.

“Yeah, now go!” McSpy rushed Gadget.

Gadget ran as fast as he could back to the hotel. He arrived at the room and sloppily put on his headset, “McSpy, are you there?”

There was static then a voice came on, “Yeah, I’m here. I’m in front of the casino. Are things ready?”

“Yes, you are clear to enter.”

McSpy turned on the camera and pushed through the double doors and entered the build. McSpy saw hundreds of ponies playing casino games. Row after row, ponies sat in front of a slot machine, a hoof on the handle and gambled away. More ponies were sitting at tables, playing card games and roulette. There were so many bustling ponies having a great time and that occasional cheer of a group of ponies who won. Other ponies sat at the bar, getting drunk off of Apple Cider. This place didn’t seem anywhere near different from any other casino. McSpy started to walk around and check the place out. Nothing looked to be out of the ordinary until he trotted through a row of slot machines, he came upon one that said “Out of Order.”

“Hold on just a minute!” Gadget yelled, startling the spy.

“What is it?” McSpy asked with a wide eyed expression.

“That slot machine...I’m getting electrical readings from it.”

“So, all it says Out of Order, what’s so special about it?”

“But if you knew it was out of order, why would you plug it in, and why would it still have power if it was broken?"

“Hmmm...” He thought about it for a moment, then pulled the handle.

Suddenly the machine and part of the ground revolved around into a secret hallway. He heard steps of a couple of hooves down the hallway. A closet was in front of McSpy, as fast as he could he quietly lock picked the door and slipped in. He pressed the side of his head to the door to hear any talking between the ponies.

Voices of a pair of stallions began to get louder as they were walking down the hallway.

“Is the machine ready?” One asked.

“Almost ready boss, we have the Princess and the machine.” The other replied.

“What about Princess Celestia, she’s stronger than she is?”

“That is why we need the Alicorn amulet to multiply the strength of her magic.”

“Okay, I’ll get my men on that right away.”

They walked far enough so that they couldn't be heard anymore.

“Did you get all that?” McSpy breathed through the mic.

“Yes I did, they’re after the Alicorn Amulet.” Gadget replied.

McSpy started out of the closet door, only to plant his face into a stallion’s chest. It was a guard from the casino.

This doesn't look good. McSpy thought to himself, as his ears dropped down. The guard smiled and punched the spy in the face. McSpy flew back into the wall of the supply closet; he became covered in tools and brooms. The guard walked forward to the pile. McSpy jumped out with a mop, holding it like a spear, then wacked the guard in the face. The stallion stumbled backwards for little bit, then found his balance and charged at the spy. McSpy did a side step and hit the guard again with the mop. The guard ran into a shelf and McSpy slammed the closet door shut from the outside. He left the secret passage way. He was quickly walking through the casino to the exit.

“Gadget, I think the mission may have been compromised,” McSpy said to his mic.

“Hey you, stop!” A guard yelled to the passing earth pony in a tux.

McSpy increased his walking speed out the doors of the building. The bright sun shinned in his face. McSpy called a taxi and then the carriage started leave as soon as he got on. He sighed a sigh of relief, but was turned into a gasp of shock when he turned around to see a carriage of mercenary ponies trailing behind.

“Step on it!” McSpy yelled to the taxi driver and the driver began to gallop faster, but the mercenaries were catching up.

This is bad. McSpy thought. He climbed to the roof of the taxi, struggling to keep his balance. He grabbed out his laser watch and began to melt the tire of the mercenaries’ carriage. Before the carriage could crash in the dust behind them, two of the mercenaries leaped from theirs onto the yellow carriage. A merc punched McSpy’s front leg, then in his face. The other merc slammed McSpy’s head on the surface of the taxi. McSpy felt some blood slide down from his nose to his mouth. The first merc took out a combat knife and cut through his tux, making a slice wound on his side. A small amount of blood began to rush out through his tux. He raised a hoof to strike the spy again, but McSpy grabbed his hoof in mid swing and directed the knife to stab the merc in the shoulder. The mercenary screamed in pain as the blade dug into his skin. McSpy took out a pistol with his other hoof and shot the merc in the forehead. The blood splattered onto his tux and the screaming stopped. Then, the other pony began to charge at the spy. McSpy used his back legs to buck the pony off the taxi.

Before he could slide off the speeding yellow carriage he got a grip. The stallion was hanging on, but barely. McSpy limped over to the edge where the stallion was holding onto.

“Who are you working for?!” McSpy demanded to know.

“I-er-will never-argh-tell you.” The mercenary grunted, struggling to talk and hang on at the same time.

“Grab my hoof!” McSpy held out his hoof to help the stallion.

The merc refused to accept his help and simply let go to fall to his death. The spy watched the mercenary’s body hit the street and roll limply across the ground.

“Gadget, I didn’t get any info out of the mercs so I’m heading back to the hotel.” McSpy said into his mic. “I don’t get paid enough to do this.” He said to himself.
