It’s been four days since I left the last town and headed on into the forest, the first day was ok, but as I traveled deeper in, it got dark. and in this part of Equestria the  Timberwolves were especially bad in the Everfree Forest. The second and third day I had been chased down by a pack of around a dozen of them, but I was able to keep them back and shield myself, and was able to get them off my tail.

On the fourth day I reached the edge of the forest and  headed  off towards to the next town, donning my long coat, and saddle bag after getting up from the spot where I camped last night, keeping the morning sun at my back, leaving the forest behind me as I came upon a small town.

Nothing seemed special about this town in particular, the buildings were well maintained, and everything had a cheery feel to it, the roads were clean but the grass and gardens were in need of a trimming.

Considering the fact that I had absolutely no clue where I was, and hadn't seen a single road sign since i left the forest.

I decided to settle down for the afternoon in a secluded corner of a small park on the outskirts of the town.

I found a nice spot, Not too far from the main path so as to avoid being out in the midday sun, I tossed my bag, and coat at the base of a nearby tree, before lying down down in the soft grass, in the shade of the tree.

After spending quite some time watching every pony go about their business my eyes caught a glimpse of a light purple unicorn, as she sat down on a nearby bench.

No wait... I thought, as she produced a book that she had held under her wing.

“It can't be. She's an alicorne?”... But they’re royalty, what would she be doing out here on her own?.

Not long after I muttered that to myself, a cotton-candy pink coated mare energetically bounced up the path, and came to a sudden stop at the bench, before bouncing on the spot, as she started to converse with the alicorne.

Hmmm, You two are obviously friends, by the way your talking. I thought as I scratched the back of my maneless neck. But why isn't anypony else gathered around. There should be a crowd to greet you.  Shouldn't there?, even if you aren't royalty, there are only a hoof full of alicorne's in equestria, and just to see one is an event in itself.

After spending some time observing, sketching her, as she sat there, continuously reading, and seemingly unfazed by her pink friend's crazy antics.  She only looked up every now, and then to say something in response to whatever her  friend had been talking about.

Looking back down to his worn fabric-bound sketch book in front of him, Gen reviewed the drawings of this mystery alicorn he had sketched over the past hour. He started started to think, as he tapped the pencil against the paper, wondering how to title the roughly drawn  likenesses of the two mares. "Who are you? You can’t be royalty... Or can you,  He pondered aloud.

‘’But why are you here, and why are you apparently friends with that pony? ...She seems slightly psychotic.” He quietly pondered in his head. She hasn’t stopped moving… or talking for that matter. " While he lay there thinking, Gen could still hear the high pitched voice of the pink one, rambling on in the distance.

Looking back to the park bench, he could see that the mystery alicorne was getting ready to leave, as she tucked her book under her wing, and headed off down the path .

But there was something new. A small dragon was perched upon her wings.

Well where did you come from? Gen thought to himself.

His ears perked up with curiosity, as he watched the three of them head off down the path, the pink one suddenly darting off after a blue Pegasus as she soared by.

“Well ... Maybe I'll stay around a day or two...and find out just who you are.”

Day 1:

The morning was cool, and damp, as the mist rolled across the hillside at the edge of the forest, dawn had just  broken the horizon, casting a tint of orange over the land, as it glistened off the morning dew.

I got up this morning shivering as my pale blue fur was damp with morning dew, the nights were getting colder as the summer was coming to an end.

Seeing that there was still an hour or so, before the sun would be too high. I decided to walk into town, to warm up, and get something to eat before things got too busy in tow, and to actually find out what town this was.

My hoof steps echoing, as I walked down the empty streets, still not seeing any sign as to what the town's name is.

“This is nice” Gen said softly to himself, enjoying the sound the echoes.

There was always a few places open at this hour of the morning anywhere in Equestria, but there didn't seem to be any here mainly, because it seemed that no one was awake awake. But to my luck, there was this one little cake shop, tucked away in the center of town, that was open.

I decided to go in, and see what they had, since there was no one else inside.

The inside was nice, brightly colored, and happy. It was a nice change from the dark, muted tones of the Everfree Forest, I walked to the counter and ranging the bell once, and waited as I listened to someone rummaging around in the back after I rang the first time.

Not long after, a cotton-candy pink maned mare appeared from the back, covered in flour and giggling to herself as she approached the counter.

Despite how early it is, she was quite lively... And then it hit me. She was the same mare that was with the alicorne from the day before!

Just as that thought left my mind, she propped her front hooves up onto the counter, as a big excited smile spread across her face.

''Wowwie you’re up early! He He, I don’t think any pony has come in at this time before''. She said excitedly,as she spoke rapidly .

''I’ve never see you around here before, and I know everybody’’ She said, as she cocked her head sideways, as she looked at the stranger, as she  continued on excitedly.

“I'm Pinkie Pie. What's your name?”.

Standing there, taken slightly aback by her over excitement with my presence, it was a few moments before I collect my thoughts, and respond. “My name is Gen.” I said in soft voice.

“He he. It's nice to meet you Gen. What can I get you? We don't have any cupcakes, or well any cakes right now, since the flour decided to fly away. He he''.

She giggled, as she looked back to the kitchen where a white cloud, still lingered in the air.  As she turned, the flour in her overly fluffed main came out in billowous puffs as they floated about.

''Ooo, but we do have some delicious pastries and some fresh apple pie that my friend makes. It’s simply the best apple pie in all of Equestria, would you like some Gen? You won't be disappointed.” said Pinkie Pie, as she tried to coax Gen into trying some.

Once again, I stood there taken back by her extreme cheerfulness. It was slightly scary, and strange that, unlike so many others, she had not seemed to care for my travel worn appearance, or my mainles head and sickly blue coloured coat, but perhaps she can't see much in the dim light of the early morning, and while wearing my trench coat, and bag, there isn’t much of me to see, and with my tail tucked away, I’m not that notable.

“Sure, I'll have a piece of the pie then.” I said, feeling uneasy about being around such a cheery character, after not speaking to, or seeing anypony else for the past for days.

“Alrighty then, Gen! He he! That rhymes! I like names that rhyme.” She continued to go on rhyming names, and other miscellaneous items, and words. “So what are you doing in Ponyvile Gen? Having fun, I hope?.''

Has she gone mad? Gen thought to himself.

“Well I was just passing through… He hesitantly said before pausing for a moment. “What did you say this place is called?.”

Pinkie laughed. “Well how can you pass through somewhere knowing if you don’t you're there. This is Ponyville, the greatest place around.” She gave a smile as she finished her sentence, and trotted over to the nearest table with the plate, on top of which was a large slice of pie, and set it down.

“Come have as seat Gen, its the best one—.’’  she Trailed off, as continued to smile.

I assumed I would get it to go, but it appeared, that she wants him to stay, that dosent happen too often.

“Thank you.” He kindly responded. “How much was it again?” Gen asked, as he reached the table, and begun to take of his old saddle bag.

Pinkie let out another happy smile, as she bounced up and down with glee. “Not a single bit, it’s your welcome to Ponyville present from me.” She said, as she excitedly jumped up, and down. “Hey! Do you want to be friends? Everypony is because I'm the best friend there is cause I make everypony happy.”

“Sure why not.” Saying that, while slightly scared of what might happen is I said no, I still don’t know if you're crazy or not, I thought, remembering the time I was slapped with a fish after misjudged somepony in a similar situation.

Gen sat down, as he watched Pinkie with slight displeasure with quick decision.

Since he never stayed long, and doesn't like to make friends, because he would disappoint them.

“Hooray I have a new friend!” She exclaimed, as she then broke out into a song, and dance.

And after a minute or two, it was over, and she sat down across from Gen at the table.

''So— Gen where are you from?” She asked, as she smiled across the table, not the slightest bit exhausted from her outburst..

Gulping down that last piece, unsure of how to answer that last question, quickly I decided to redirect the conversation.”Don’t you need to get ready for todays customers?” Gen said, feeling bad, as he felt kind of rude asking.

“He he oh no. No pony comes in this early anymore, I still have plenty of time, and I always make time for friends, and your my friend, so I have time to talk.” She she let out another big smile. “Hey! Do you want me to show you around town? There's lots to see.”

“No thank you, I don't think I'll be staying too long.” You are giving me way more attention than I like, Gen thought thought as he took another bite of his pie.

“Aww can't you stay for a little while, I just met you.” A slight frown making an appearance on her face.

woaw, so aren't always happy… I Gen thought before speaking up.

“Well I won't be going too far, maybe you can give me that tour in a day or two.” Gen said, before finishing the last bite of pie, savouring it, as it really was quite good, maybe not the best pie out there.

“Yay, it will be so much fun, I'll show you all the best places! Where are you going?” She said, now once again excited. Pinkie Pie then got up, and trotted the empty plate back to the kitchen .

I grabbed my pack, and headed for the door, as she went off with the plate. I was hoping to avoid more questions by leaving now. And since the sun was coming up she, or anypony else might start to question me. As I reached the door,  I looked back to see her just enter the kitchen, I quickly passed off two bits for the pie onto the counter, just as she came back in, the coins hit the counter with a slight clunk.

Pinkie turned just in time to see them land before turning to me, she tilted her head in confusion, as she knew there was no way for me to put the coins there and get to the door like that, especially without being a unicorn, most notable being that I did not have a horne.

“Did you put these here Gen?” She questioned, wondering if he could actually have gotten them there, while she was in the kitchen.

Oh ponyfeathers, she saw me. “Oh me, no (now slightly nervous)  They were there when I got here. Didn’t you see them?”

She quickly put on a smile. “I must have forgotten. He he! I do that sometimes.”

Pinkie happily trotted over to the door to say goodbye to Gen, as he started off down the steps, keeping his head low to the collar of his coat, as the sun rose higher in the sky.

“Oh, I should ask you since you must really know this town.”

Pinkie excitedly cut him off before he could finish. “Yes indeedy, I know Ponyville like the back of my hoof.” She boasted, as she stood in the doorway ,excitedly sticking out her forehoof.

“Yeah, I figured you would ... Anyway, I need to get some pony to patch my bag, do you know who could do that for me?” Gen turned to look at the tattered threads and tears on the edged of the old, worn saddle bag.

“Oh oh, I know!” She said with pleasure at being able to help. “My friend Rarity owns a dress shop, she can help you! She is just two streets down the road past the bridge, do you want me to show you?”

“Uh.. No thank you, I think I can find it.”

“Okey dokey lokey! He he! Just tell her Pinkie sent you! She said happily.”

“Ok I will, thank you Pinkie Pie.”

Gen walked down the road, as Pinkie watched him set off in the direction she had pointed, before turning around, and going back in, stopping at the counter, and looking at the two bits, just sitting there, and wondering how they got there. They weren't there when she went into the kitchen, she thought about it for a moment, before scooping them up and placing them in the register, as she to thinking about her new friend.

“He he! He couldn't have put them there, he’s not that quick, and he doesn't have a horn.”

The thought of the the two bits slipped away, as she happily went about her baking. She thought about meeting Gen again in the coming days, and what she wanted to show him first .
