In the future Earth became overpopulated. One man decided to fix this and started a great war that has already killed half the population of the planet and ruined almost the entire planet. Soon Earth will not be inhabitable so a scientists/meteorologist named Mark created a portal that would take him to a different dimension so life might be better in so he can live in peace and get away from this war.

Once the he had obtained his supplies, he decided it was time to go into the portal. With such an important occasion the news decided to cover it heavily. With him carrying his backpack he ventured into the portal causing a huge flash to fill the room. Once he vanished with the flash smoke started coming from the machine and one of the panels started spewing fire. There was no doubt the machine had broken and the only man that could repair it had just been sent through the machine and had no way of getting back.

On the other side of the portal he was amazed to see that as far as he knew it had worked to plan. Since he was feeling very drained of energy from the trip and since he arrived at night in the new dimension he decided to set up camp and sleep until day when he can have time to focus on what he would do next.

Mark woke up early in the morning and decided to check the area for fresh food to eat once his supplies ran low he had packed a bow and some arrows for hunting for food so he grabbed it out of his pack and went into the forest. While it was still very dark Mark was able to see what looked like a small deer or horse in the distance sitting under a tree as if it was waiting for something. He quickly decided this would be an easy target and drew is bow. Even if he only scared it away he would be able to see what it looked like better since the tree stood in the middle of a clearing and the moonlight would allow for some visibility of his target. After taking a minute to aim he fired the arrow and hit his target. Then it appeared to sprout wings and fly low over the ground away and in the light it seemed that he had hit it in the front left leg but what was even more interesting was it was blue. he had just hit a blue Pegasus so he decided he must be seeing things so he went back to the camp to make breakfast.

After having a nice breakfast of some preserved fish Mark went off to explore the new world he was in. After some time Mark saw a couple more horses in the distance but decided he must be seeing things since he seemed to all be different colors. Soon he found a hill that overlooked what seemed to be an orchard, it was a large cluster of trees growing in rows and after searching the area from on the hill he saw a small farm and a barn sitting in the middle of the orchard. There was a small town farther away but the orchard was on the edge of the town so if he stays near the edge nobody would see him and if they did it would take too long for someone to run into the town to get help. Mark decided to grab some apples to keep his food rations high if the natives he have yet to find are hostile and he wont be able to come back.

After picking half the apples off a tree he began hearing the sounds of a tree being hit by something so he decided to investigate. The group quickly discovered a smallish orange horse kicking a tree and making the apples fall off. The horse quickly spotted them and ran away. Hoping to find something he ran after it only to find it ran into the town and not wanting to draw more attention decided to escape from the area and go back to camp. By the time he arrived it had gotten dark and he thought he might be chased so he quickly put dirt over the coals of the fire and went to bed to get ready if he had been followed he may need to fight once they arrived, but he had a strange feeling that everything would work out for the best.

Mark was awoken early by the sounds of horses. He knew his pursuers had arrived so he calmly exited his tent but to his surprise nobody was riding the horses. Four horses stood around his camp, all small like the one from before but these were white and in gold armor that had wings like the first one he saw but these ones had blades on them as a form of weaponry. One of the pegasi told him to surrender and follow them. Too shocked that a pegasi had just talked to him he just nodded and follow the one that had talked to him and the other three stayed in a circle around him.

After an hour and a half long march they reached the small farm on the edge of the town. Walking through the farm he saw the same horse as before and realized that it had called these guards on him. Once inside the town Mark saw tons of the horses all over the city, not surprisingly they all looked at him like some monster. Since it did not seem like humans existed here this was understandable and he decided to make a good impression and tried to stay positive and not seem threatening to the horse villagers.

Luckily the guards took him strait to a building that seemed to be a court, most likely to so they could think of something to do with him. They locked him into a cell for the rest of the day that was built for the horses so it was quite small for him. They did bring him food but only apples. Since his guard was curious about him Mark was able to have an enlightening discussion until noon when the guards switched and he got a new guard that was much better at not talking with the prisoner. From what he learned there were, in fact, no other humans ever in this world. The entire population was made of the horses but they preferred to be called “ponies” so to be polite Mark decided to call them that from now on. There were unicorns and pegasi but they were not too common in this town since it was made by the standard ponies. The rulers of the world were called princess Celestia and princess Luna. They seem to have the ability to raise the sun and moon every day and night. Princess Celestia was truly in charge and would be overseeing the trial of what to do with Mark. Soon after that the guards were changed and Mark spent the rest of the day failing to start conversations with the new guard.

Mark awoke to the guard that had talked to him knocking on the bars with his hoof. “time to wake up, your trial will be starting soon and you should be wide awake for it.” After a while another guard came in and opened the cell demanding Mark follow him. The court room was set up like a human court, there was a large crowd that had shown up to watch the event, there was a jury of 10 ponies including the orange one that was at the farm and a purple unicorn, from what he could tell they seemed to know each other. The judge was much larger than any of the other ponies. A little big bigger then any human world horse and possessing both wings and a horn Mark quickly realized this was the princess. He was ordered to sit in a chair right in front of the princess so she could see him easily.

“The court is now in session!” the princess shouted out to quite everyone. “We have gathered here today to decide the fate of the new comer to our lands. We will teach him our ways and allow him to live amongst us and offer his unique skill set like we would any of our own. So I hope you will accept him like anypony else you would meet. Do you accept this?”

Mark was too shocked to speak so he simply nodded in agreement. It would help to learn about the natives of this world and if they want to let him then he should just go along with it.

“Good, then I will have my faithful student Twilight teach you. This court is over.” Soon all the ponies had left except the purple unicorn. Once they were alone the unicorn walked up to him. “Hi, my name is Twilight Sparkle. Whats your name?” “I’m Mark. Not to sound rude but all my stuff is still at my camp and we can discuss a lot on the way there and back.” “OK, then we should get going.”

The walk there seemed much shorter this time since Mark had someone to talk to on the way. The entire time they walked and while packed Twilight taught him lots of things. First of all he learned that Twilight had 5 friends that he would get to meet and they would help him learn about ponykind as well but got hurt by a strange branch that fell out of a tree and hit her in the leg so she is in the hospital. Mark was curious about the strange marking on her flank and learned it was called a cutie mark. Ponies apparently get their cutie mark when they learn about their special talent.

On the way back Mark asked her were she lived and if he would be sleeping there tonight. Twilight said that she lived in a library in tree and he would have to sleep outside since her dragon named Spike was sleeping inside. “Oh no, I forgot about spike. He was sleeping when I left and since I thought I would be back home quickly I left him there.” Then they started to run to get back quickly and keeping up with a horse, even a small one, was tricky so Mark had to stop talking so he could breath.

After the long run they got to Twilight’s house and found Spike inside. After Twilight explained the situation she introduced them to each other. Once they had all eaten lunch Twilight and Mark decided to go meet Applejack since she was the first to see Mark.

When they had almost reached Sweet Apple Acres Mark noticed a sound of something hitting wood very hard. “What is that strange noise Twilight?” “Don’t worry its just Applejack getting the apples out of the trees. To do that she has to kick them really hard to make the apples fall out.”

Once they had walked around the orchard for a while they found Applejack. “Applejack, I would like you to meet our new friend Mark. “Hello Applejack, its nice to meet you in a more formal way then our first encounter.” “I agree. So how are you doing Mark?” “I am confused about everything but I think I'm getting used to it.” “That's nice, well listen I'm really busy. Applebloom, my sister, and her friends decided to try applebucking and would not let me or big Mac help them so when they stopped they had not done much and now we have to work extra to get this area done today.” Twilight nudged Mark “Come on we also need to get going to meet rarity, see you later Applejack.”

On the way to Rarity’s house they ran into Pinkie Pie. “Oh my gosh Twilight who is your new friend. More importantly... what is your new friend?” “Oh hi Pinkie this is Mark, he is not from around here.” “Coooooool, what do you do were your from?” “I am an engineer...” “So you drive trains?” “Ha ha no, I plan things and once I'm done with that I build them.” Pinkie stayed with them on the trip to Rarity’s house and explained that Rainbow Dash had gotten hurt by a tree branch that fell out a tree and stabbed into her leg. She also explained that Fluttershy was helping to make Rainbow Dash better and helped so much that Rainbow Dash will be out of the hospital tomorrow.

At Rarity’s house they found her in a great mood after she had discovered a new fashion line she could sell. “Hello Twilight, Pinkie, and. . .” rarity’s mouth just stopped when she noticed Mark so Twilight decided to break the ice. “Hello Rarity this is Mark, he is new to Equestria and we are supposed to make him feel welcome.” “Well, hello Mark, would you mind if I made you a new outfit? I would love a challenge and I have never made anything for anyone like you before.” “Sure Rarity I did not pack too many cloths anyway.” Once rarity had made some new cloths for Mark it was already very late so Twilight and Mark went back home to have a simple dinner of muffins that had been delivered by a grey pegasus.

In the morning mark woke up and got out of his tent to see twilight eating with two pegasi at a small table. One was yellow and the other was blue with a cast on their leg. “Hi Mark, I would like you to meet Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash I was just telling them about you.” as soon as the yellow one saw Mark she hid behind the table but the blue one was a little braver. “Hello, Im Rainbow Dash and that is Fluttershy. Sorry she is a bit of a scardie pony but she is nice. Oh and don’t worry about my leg I like flying more and this is a great reason to fly all day.” Fluttershy then simply got out from behind the table and shook hand/hoove with mark. “Hi Mark.” “Hello Fluttershy, its nice to meet you.” “Well now that you know everypony lets go get the rest of our group and find something fun to do!”

And with that Mark had some food and they all went to find an adventure.
