The Mermare

After Ariel had jumped into the water, the rest soon followed. Once they had met up again it was the same sort of conversation they had before – very awkward. After they had reached the castle gates, however, things began the get heated.

“Halt! You do not have permission to enter, Celestia! If you try to fight we will have no problem attacking!” one of the guards said, as the Princess floated into a fighting stance.

“Silver Blade, she is allowed to enter under my permission,” Ariel said to the guard. After a moment, he quickly apologized and let them in, keeping a close eye on Celestia as they did. After they had gotten inside, Ariel announced with as much volume as her voice could muster.

“Mum, Dad, I’m home, and I brought some visitors with me!” As she yelled, the rest of the group was surprised of how she could make the water shake with her volume. When her parents came out to greet her, they were shocked silent by the alicorn before them.

“Sea Berry Swirl, why has thou brought this tyrant into my household?!” her father yelled at the top of his lungs

“Father, I have brought Celestia before you because we are here to talk things out between are two species,” she replied, keeping a calm and collected tone.

“Well I do not wish to speak to this beast you call a ‘Princess’,” her mother hissed.

“Mother, we do not use sarcasm while talking to guest, remember?”

“Well, I can be sarcastic to the pony who killed my mother!” she cried, fresh tears threatening to spill.

“King Triton and Queen Athena I wish to patch up old scars and start anew. Will you accept my dearest apologies?”

“As if I would forgive a tyrant like you!” Athena said as she flicked her snout in the air letting her long red hair flow down.

“Mother, I can sense that Celestia is very sorry. But if you do not forgive her, how will we ever live in peace in this small world? If you don’t forgive her our secret may be told by the ponies behind us? If we do not forgive, how will we move in life? If we do not forgive...”

“I think we get it, dear,” her mother said flatly to her.

“Okay, so what I’m saying is that if we don’t move on from the past, how can we make a new future?” she asked as she gave a questioning stare to her mother.

“Well I see your point, but what if she turns her back on us and kills you?”

“Then I will die knowing I tried. And to prove to you that above the water is safe I am going to move there for a time a tell everypony who I am. If they do not accept this, then I will return, but if things take a turn for the worse, then we’ll have to prepare.”

“Honey, that’s so dangerous, what if someone tries to hurt you?” her mother asked worriedly.

“No more questions, mother, fetch my Shelltop, iClam, and my tiara and I’ll be on my way.”

“Sugercube, are ya sure you want to do this? It may be a lot harder that it sounds.”

“Of course I’m sure! Come on let’s go. I’ll meet you at the shore. Mother, father, tell Aquata, Andrina, Arista, Atina, Adella, and Allana that I said bye.”

“What about Blue Wave?” Pinkie asked

“That’s Andrina. We all have are second names we use to make us seem individual so ponies don’t get is mixed up.”

“Why haven’t we seen *gasp* Aquata, Arista, Atina, Adella or Allana yet?” Fluttershy said gasping for air.

“Because they live all over the ocean with the princes. It’s silly really me and Andrina are the only ones who stayed.”

“But what about Blue Wa… Sorry Andrina, wouldn’t she be upset?” Fluttershy asked again.

“Naw, she got lots of friends from all around the ocean she’ll be fine.”

“Honey…” her father said with a sigh. Everypony turned their heads. “Good luck,” he said, giving her the most sincere smile he could muster. After he had said that Ariel swam up her parents and dragged them into warm embrace, which was shortly followed by a group of ‘awwws’ and one ‘eww’ that was met by a punch to the shoulder.

After she had packed, said goodbye to her family for one last time, and swam up to the shore followed by the group of ponies, Ariel declared with a heroic voice.

“Time for an adventure!”
