Prologue

"Okay, children! Gather 'round! It's story time!" a mature male voice sounded out.

Everyone in the room put down their toys and dropped their conversations and came around the adult, sitting all near him. There were creatures of various kinds in the small play room, ponies, changelings and griffons mainly. They were all young and small.

"What story will you be reading us today?" an excited griffon called out, causing many different conversations to uproar from the littl'uns. The adult observed them and enjoyed their enthusiasm.

"Okay, calm down, young ones!" he ordered, making everyone quiet down. They all stared intently at him. "Today's story is a story of many elements. It is a story of the connection of hearts. It is a story of much negativity, showcasing hardship, anguish, betrayal and cruelty; however, it also tells of triumph, victory, honor and courage. The entirety of the story is all based off of true events, from things that happened in a distant past to a relative yesterday. It contains an excellent message on friendship and protection, of which I want you all to take and learn from," the grownup recommended.

"Ooh, ooh! I have a question!" an eager changeling shouted.

"Yes, little one?" the creature softly answered.

"How long is the story?" she asked.

"This is quite the lengthy story, so I suggest that you all get comfortable where you are," he suggested, pulling a book from the shelf.

The book had strange markings on it, and when the adult opened it, it started to glow. The adolescent creatures all oohed and aahed at this sight.

"That book is glowing!" an enthusiastic unicorn yelled.

"Yes it is, young one. This book contains many truly awesome things, It operates on the power of the heart, which is what this story is based around. I want you all to pay close attention to how the heart is represented in this story. You could all learn something wonderful from this tale," he explained, looking over each of the children's faces. They were all smiling at him, anxious of what today's telling would ensue. "Alright, let us begin. This is the Legend of the Great Crystals."
