Chapter 5:Hospital visit
Previous ChapterNext ChapterJeff walked slowly up to Fluttershy. "You look tired." He commented. "Maybe you should, Go to sleep!" Jeff tried to punch Fluttershy but fell over flat on his face.
"Calm down Jeff, She probably has no idea who Jane is." Ben explained to Jeff, slightly annoyed that he had to freak out everytime he heard her catchphrase.
"I think I broke my spleen." Jeff said, ignoring everything that had been said so far.
"I can help you, just get up, if you can." Fluttershy extended a hoof.
Jeff swatted it away. "I don't need help." He said, somehow standing up. "Now, maybe we could hurry to wherever so i don't slowly get killed by the toxins."
"Can you even walk?" Ben asked.
"What kind of dumb question is that? Of course I can, I'm not two." Jeff tried to take a step but fell over again. "Okay, maybe assistance is needed."
"What do you say?" Ben asked Jeff.
Jeff sighed. "You're the best hacker known to mankind and are in every way superior to me, especially in awesomeness. Now can you help me?"
Ben laughed. "Actually all you had to say was please, but thanks for the compliments." He then helped Jeff up.
"I hate you sometimes." Jeff stated.
"Just lean on my shoulder and we'll get you to a hospital." Ben said, trotting to Jeff's side.
Jeff nearly collapsed on Ben's shoulder, hardly holding himself up at all.
Jack got on the other side of Jeff in case he fell the other way or something. Also so he could talk to Ben without having to worry too much about being heard by Fluttershy. "Don't you think we'll e pretty noticeable like this?" He whispered to Ben.
"Yeah, but it's not like we look suspicious or anything." Ben pointed out.
"While true, What if something were to happen on the way to the hospital?"
"Like what?" Ben asked.
"Like a fight or something. Just because he's half dead doesn't mean he'll back away from a challenge."
"That is very true, let's hope there aren't too many idiots in this town."
"Knowing our luck Jeff is gonna pick a fight with a dragon or something." Jack laughed a little.
"Well, he does play a lot of Skyrim." Ben pointed out. They both laughed and brohoofed.
"Right in my ear, guys." Jeff told them.
"Sorry Jeff." Ben apologized.
"You, apologizing to me?" Jeff asked. "About time." Jeff laughed, but it turned into a coughing fit.
"We should really move faster." Ben said.
"And how do we do that? It's not like I can just run." Jeff pointed out.
It was true, he couldn't run. Ben pondered the situation for a few moments. Jeff could barely stand, how was he supposed to run? And they couldn't carry him, that would slow them down even more. Then an idea came to Ben's head, but it was risky. "Hey Jeff, remember when you told me about your family?"
Jeff just nodded with a look of 'how does this solve anything' on his face.
"Well,Imagine Liu is waiting at the hospital for you." Ben waited to be beaten, verbally and physically. Jeff hated talking about his brother. He was the only one in the universe he'd ever, and probably will ever, regret killing. But he was only met with a question from Jeff.
"You think it would help?" Jeff asked sadly.
Ben nodded. Jeff would do anything for his brother, dead or alive.
Jeff nodded back and focused his attention on the route to the hospital and ran. He ran almost faster than Ben, Jack or Fluttershy could keep up. This, of course, was no surprise to Ben or Jack. Fluttershy looked quite shocked though.
"How is he running like that?" She asked.
"Long story." Ben stated.
"What did you do?" Jack asked Ben.
"I told him to imagine Liu was waiting for him at the hospital." Ben explained.
"You do know he's gonna murder you the second we get there, right?"
"I know, but he's injured. By the time we get there he won't be able to move anymore."
"Ben, You know how he gets when he thinks about his brother." Jack reminded him.
"I know, But it was the only way we could make good progress."
Eventually they made it to the hospital. There wasn't anyone in the waiting room, thank Zalgo. When they got there Jeff just collapsed.
Ben levitated his head up from the floor and waved a hoof in front of his eyes. "Yep, sleeping sound as a kitten."
"No, not the bunnies in wheelchairs.." Jeff mumbled in his sleep. "Stay away from my grandmother..."
"Almost." Ben added.
A nurse walked into the room. "What is it?" She asked kindly.
"All the bunnies, keep them away." Jeff said.
"Uh, It's him." Ben said, pointing a hoof to Jeff. "He got stung by a lion that had a scorpion stinger and wings."
"How long has it been since he's been stung?" The nurse asked very seriously.
"About half an hour, I think." Ben answered.
"How is he not in shock, In fact, how is he breathing?" The nurse trotted up to Jeff. "Manticore poison is one of, if not the most, deadly poison in the world."
"Rattling little friendly worm." Jeff mumbled again. "Don't eat my face, Kurt..."
Ben couldn't help but chuckle. Now he remembered why he'd gotten rid of Jeff's sleeping mask.
The nurse called down two other nurses who put Jeff on a stretcher and carried him through the hallway. "Stay back." She cautioned Ben, Jack and Fluttershy before following.
After a few awkward moments of silence Jack said something. "Soooooooo.....Seen any kidneys today?"
"Actually I did, a week ago I was playing surgeon simulator." Ben answered.
"I like kidneys." Jack said.
"You don't say." Ben said very sarcastically.
"Shut up Ben."
"You." Ben answered.
After about another hour or so of awkward silence they heard a very girly scream from the hallway.
"What was that?" Fluttershy asked.
"He woke up." Ben and Jack said in unison.
They saw Jeff run into the waiting room with a hospital gown on. Three doctors were following him, two unicorns trying to hold him with magic.
"All the needles!" Jeff screamed. "The needles and the wires and the beeping...Oh Zalgo the beeping."
"Do you even know what's going on?" Ben asked.
"They were interrogating me, Ben." Jeff answered.
Ben facehoofed. "No, they were trying to get the poison out of your system."
"You mean?" Jeff started to asked, then he started laughing. "That's never gonna happen, How did they even get to attempting such a thing?" He said in between laughs.
"What are you talking about, You were stung by one of the deadliest poisons ever, That fact you're alive is a miracle." Ben explained.
"It is a miracle, Isn't it?" Jeff asked. "I'm surprised after having the 'poison' for so long I haven't gotten myself killed."
Then Ben realized what Jeff was talking about. "You think I'm talking about your mind?"
Jeff stopped laughing. "Weren't you?"
"No, you were stung by a scorpion lion with wings and we brought you here." Ben explained. "Do you really not remember anything?"
Jeff tried to remember, but it hurt his head. "Nope." He replied.
"That's lovely, now calm down so the poison doesn't spread again and let the doctors finish their job."
"I don't think poison works like that." Jack told him.
"Well I never took medical school."
"Spread the word." Jeff told them before walking back to the operating room.
"Sometimes I think that kid is broken." Ben commented.
"Only sometimes?" Jack asked. They both laughed. It was true, Jeff's broken side of the mind stuck out way too much.
