Equestria, a land ruled by four alicorns. Celestia, ruler of the Sun. Luna, ruler of the Moon. Cadence, ruler of Love. Last is Twilight Sparkle, a new ruler of Friendship, who does not know her duties yet. Alicorns are known for living long, but what happens if a certain alicorn has friends who are not?
2. Duties
It was a warm Summer day, the birds were singing and there were just a few clouds left in the sky. Twilight dashed through one with ease. "Thanks for teaching me to fly, Rainbow Dash", Twilight said cheerfully. "No Problemo", Rainbow Dash replied. Thousands of other ponies were having fun and cheering, for Celestia had risen the sun once again for the Summer Sun Festival. The ponies started running around having fun, playing games and going on rides. Twilight smiled remembering the first time she saw Celestia raise the sun at the Summer Sun Festival. She never knew she would get this far. When they finished clearing the clouds, they went down to enjoy the fun, too. Rainbow Dash went over to the other ponies of the mane six and enjoyed some cider. It was very lively at the festival, and something caught Twilight's eye. It was an old ride she remembered riding when she was just a filly. She was amazed it still worked. She asked her friends if they wanted to come, and they all smiled and said, "Sure!". They all had fun that one day. Like many other days. Twilight thought she would remember this day forever, and she was right. Princess Celestia called her back into the castle to show her duties. "Twilight, your duty is to raise the stars tonight, okay?", Celestia said. "Yes m'am!", Twilight said cheerfully to do her first job as a princess. It was a beautiful and cold night that night, all the ponies had drifted off to sleep, and Twilight and Luna smiled. "You did good for your first job, but they can get harder over a few years", Luna said. Twilight just smiled and said, "I'm sure I can do it with my friends by my side!". It was a sentence she would look back on decades after she had said it.
3. Laughter Lasts Forever
A few years later, Twilight had gotten more duties and was well known by the ponies of Equestria. Every day she would visit her friends to make sure they were okay. She loved them very much, so she never forgot them. "Twilight! Your back! Wanna try a new batch of cinnamon rolls I made?", Pinkie Pie asked. "Sure!", Twilight replied. The pink pony hopped up and down in happiness that her friend had come at just that time. Pinkie put out the batch on a plate and they both ate one. "Your pastries are as good as ever, Pinkie!". Pinkie smiled and then stared at Twilight. "I just remembered something, I entered a baking competition today in Canterlot. But the train isn't scheduled for Ponyville today. Twilight, can you help me get my cake there?", Pinkie asked desperately. "Sure, Pinkie.", Twilight said, finishing the last bite of her cinnamon roll. Pinkie hopped out of Sugarcube Corner, Twilight following her. They didn't say a thing until they got to a broken down bridge. "Twilight, can you hold the bridge with magic?", Pinkie asked. "I don't know Pinkie... it looks a little bit dangerous...", Twilight said, refusing to hold it with magic. "Don't worry! Just try, okay?", Pinkie Pie said, starting to walk slowly on the bridge. Twilight kept it up with magic, holding the cake with magic too. Pinkie Pie almost got to the end of it until... "Pinkie! Careful! Boards are falling off!", Twilight said. But Pinkie was already hanging off a rope. "Twilight! Its okay! I don't want you hurt!", Pinkie said as Twilight started trotting towards the bridge. The rope snapped and Pinkie started falling down into a river. "Twilight, always remember! Laughter lasts fo....", Pinkie was cut off as she fell into the river, causing a big SPLASH! from the pressure. Twilight called out for Pinkie, screaming for her at the top of her lungs. She realized screaming wouldn't help. She was gone. Twilight trotted off to tell her friends the news, going back through the forest all over again, but this time, alone.
