The race of hearts. (Ray)

Previous Chapter

"Shit" was all I could say, Rayne was knocked unconscious and was now on the floor. "Fuck, how am I supposed to...fuck it." I muttered. I lifted him up and rested him on my back with my wings. I balanced him on my back so he won't fall off and I carefully walked out the door and down the steps.

I made it outside and I already had ponies looking at me wondering what happened. I really hope he wakes up when we get to the clearing. I started walking down the street and I could see Dash's clearing in the distance. "Oh my, what happened" said a concerned voice.

I looked over and there was Fluttershy with a worried  look on her face. "We had a little dispute and he hit his head." I said. "That does look like a bad bruise on his head." said Fluttershy. I kept walking with Fluttershy right behind me. "Where are you going?" she asked.

"Well we are going to Rainbows private clearing for the race she challenged us too." I replied. "Oh, can I come?" she said with a hint of excitement. "Of course, I don't see why not" I answered.

With Fluttershy joining our merry band of misfits our heroes journeyed to Rainbow Dash's private clearing for their planned race. "What was that?" I asked, Fluttershy gave me a confused look. "It sounded like...narration." Fluttershy gave me an even more confused look. "Your starting to sound like Pinkie Pie" she said. "Nevermind, moving on" I said while still being vigilant for narrators.

We reached the private clearing, and Dash was waiting with an impatient look on her face. "There you guys...are...what happened to him?" Rainbow asked pointing to an unconscious Rayne on my back "Don't ask, he'll be up in a minute" I said moving forward.

***Rayne's conscious***

"Wheeeeeeeeee...." It was all I could say, there wasn't much going on in my head today, just a couple of re-runs of Supernatural and Family Guy. I went to the next door over. Stretching my hands again for the hundredth time. It felt good to have opposable thumbs again, but that was about it. I don't know how it is for everyone else when they are knocked out, but me I can wake up at anytime I wish, but then again it gives me the rare opportunity to dive head first into my sum of knowledge. Everywhere I looked there was filing cabinets. And where there wasn't there was a movie theater entrance where it would play random events that have happened over my life. I was currently wandering around the 'comedy' section of my... Mind? Anyway, I went to the nearest filing cabinet and opened it up, well I TRIED to open it. A iPad monitor popped up and asked for my most used password, this one was easy.

I stood at attention, "128453!" It put the digits in and the cabinet exploded and reformed itself only now it was slightly ajar, I opened it farther to find the surprisingly large files marked: 'every joke ever used'

"Jesus Christ" I muttered under my breath. I sat down and started reading one of them, chuckling every once in a while. After about a third of the way done I heard a huge rumble, "DAMN IT RAY PUT ME DOWN GENTLY!" I hollered at no one in particular. The ticket master: Death, the strongest of the four horsemen... Obviously. Leaned over the counter and told me to use my inside voice or he was gonna gut me. I learned to obey his rules or I would usually wake up not being able to feel my

arms. Strangely that's what he usually cuts off...

I nodded and using my most smart-assyness voice I replied in a whisper, "So sorry, your awesomeness." He shook his head and went back to throwing knives into a dummy behind the counter.

I jumped up and stated, "Well this was a complete waste of my time!" I went to the ticket master hoping the blades didn't have a secret desire to introduce themselves to my kidney. I leaned against the counter, "One ticket to get the hell outta here please." He turned towards me with a knife still poised to throw, "Wow, you said please this time!"

I rolled my eyes, "let me out. Or should I just think up a new roll model?" He grumbled something out under his breath and reached behind the counter he pulled a squirt gun out and gave it to me. He reminded me for the seventh time in my life, "DON'T AIM IT AT ME." For some reason he had a terrible fear of water. I shook my head as he flicked me off and shot myself between the eyes.

***********

I opened my eyes to see what I have dreamed for since I first laid eyes in her. A very timid yellow mare looking at me, I closed my eyes again quickly so she didn't know I was awake just yet. She was humming her lullaby sitting on the grass much like a cat would, her front legs were under her body neatly tucked away. Her tail wrapped protectively around herself as she starred in my general location, I noticed her eyes wander over me a couple of times, the ground between me and her was trampled quite a bit, possibly from multiple trips to and from our locations, I figured out why momentarily. Ray and Dash were over quite aways away, talking about... God knows what. And every once in a while they would gesture over to me, angrily. But then Ray would get her attention again distracting her. In this time of, shy would make full use of this... Distraction she would trot quickly over to me and snuggled. I was surprised and generally happy with this. She pouted something almost incomprehensible but I just barley made it out: "Oh Rain, how ever will I tell you?"

I smiled which she couldn't see because she was still wrapped up I front of me, technically I was spooning her right now, but that only counts if your awake.... Doesn't it? She turned her head towards me and looked on the brink of tears, she kissed my 'unconscious' lips and flew back towards her original spot and looked up, their gaze passed over us again, then went back to talking. At that she dashed back towards me, she laid her head on my side and huffed, "Oh how ever will he know?" I moved forward and snatched her up in a hug, "You'll never have to tell me, I already know."

She flinched, "EEP!" She recoiled slightly and then tears fell on the back of my shoulders, "I'm sorry I couldn't tell you. I'm just so--"

I hugged tighter, "Shy..."
