"Stephano, listen to me." Cookie said, "Something bad is going to happen, I know it. I'm asking for your permission, just a peek at your memories will help."

"Cookie, I know you're worried, but I promise, there is no need for that." Stephano sighed, "The world is not going come crashing down on my watch."

"Please, this has nothing to do with the world ending." Cookie lowered her voice, and spoke in French, "Il a à faire avec Gonzales."

"Impossible, il est mort!" Stephano replied, "Mon frère est mort!"

"Please, Stephano, I know this will be hard for you." Cookie said, "But he may be alive, I just need to look for clues in your memories! That's all. Don't you want your brother back?" Stephano didn't look at her, "I know, despite your differences, you care about him. I might be able to find out where he went, if he gave a return date."

"Alright, if it means I get to see him again." Stephano sighed.

"I promise, I'll do my best to bring him home." Cookie looked Stephano in the eyes, "But please, understand if I don't. I have very few memories work with. I may barely be able to piece together anything. He may not come home unless he wants to, and, to that, it may be very unlikely we ever see him again. I'm sorry if anything goes wrong, but it may go right. Hold onto that hope."

    "I'll try."

"Brother?" Stephano searched the empty room, "Gonzales, where are you?"

He's not here, but this memory holds importance. Why? Wait. I recognize this day. It's day day he disappeared. Of course it's important, I'm and idiot. The rain. It always rains like this, every year on this day. Poor Stephano, being the one to discover his own brother went missing, and he hasn't seen him for one-hundred years. No one has.

What's over here? Nothing. Closet? Empty, he took everything. Desk? Ne- no. A piece of paper. Stephano hasn't read this, I'm sure. It looks like the work Gonzales, that's for sure. Stephano must have been so over come by grief, he didn't notice. I wonder if it's still there, waiting for it's reader. What's it say?

Dear Brother,

I'm leaving. Do not ask why, because I can't explain. I feel drawn to leave, as if something is calling me away. You got a nice girl there, take care of her. Little brother, you are the best thing that ever happened to me. I love you, and I will come back one day.

Gonzales

Cookie gasped as she woke up. Gonzales had left a note in his room. Her eyes widened as she realized it. It was still there. After one-hundred years, the note was exactly where it had been left. No one had touched it.

*******

Stephano put the letter down. Cookie had found this. It was written by Gonzales. "Come home, brother." he said, staring at the moon that Gonzales had failed to raise for one-hundred years. In 36,524 days, he had failed to come home. Would that change?
