Society Of The Alicorns
Chapter 2
Previous ChapterNext Chapter"One-hundred years, today." Cookie said, "It always rains."
"The weather team has done it since he disappeared. A reminder, you could say." Stephano sighed, "A reminder of a missing prince, and his devastated family."
"Don't say that." Cookie said, "He'll come home, I know it. You just have to hope-"
"It's one-hundred years." Stephano said, "It wasn't always this way. Things seemed better all those years ago. When you find out who you're meant for, marry them, everything seems perfect. Then, something happens, and your life changes. It comes falling down. Everything you've ever done, everything you've ever done right, seem small compared to that moment. The turning point in your life."
"Stephano, listen to yourself." Cookie said, "Things have been going great, you don't need to dwell on this. He is your family, and I know you miss him. But you need think of the kingdom you rule, also. They need the guidance only you can give. Why do you think you're the ruler? You're the one they saw fit, now you need to show them they chose right."
"How am I supposed to do that?" Stephano asked.
"It's not the first time the sun has been without the moon." Cookie said, "Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. Nobody paid attention to the night, and only cared for the day. Celestia did not notice, until it was too late. In her anger, Luna became Nightmare Moon. Her goals were to make the night last forever. Celestia, knew this would hurt her subjects. Their crops would have no light to grow, it would be freezing out. And so, despite what she wanted, she banished her sister to the moon. For one-thousand years, they were apart. But, Luna returned, and everything was alright. I know, this legend will have a happy ending as well, I can feel it."
"You know just how to make me happy." Stephano said.
"I know you've lost a lot, but Gonzales was under different circumstances." Cookie said, "His return will be different. I don't know if the others even will."
Stephano chuckled a bit, "We've had our differences past, but he was still the same kid who was scared to go to sleep without his big brother there."
"Aw, that's so sweet." Cookie said.
"The way you talk about Gonzales and I, it's like you know first hand what it's like." Stephano said.
"Don't worry about it." Cookie said, "At least, not yet."
"It's hard to see a silver pony on a cloudy day." Stephano said, "It's like searching for something that doesn't exist. Pointless."
"Say that again when he's back." Cookie said, "I thought you weren't giving up hope." She said, looking at something out of the corner of her eye.
"I didn't say that." Stephano said, "I'm just tired of waiting."
"Then hope your waiting won't go on for much longer." Cookie smiled, "There is a light at the end of the tunnel."
"Well, we're in one long god damn tunnel, then."
