                                                                                   Chapter 2

                                                                                   Nightmare

Dusk awoke, dressed and walked to the town hall with Twilight who was worried, by what he didn’t know. “Twilight what’s up with you, you seem worried. Shouldn’t you be excited that our time is ponyville is up?” he asked on the way to the celebration.

“It’s not that dusk” she said “The predictions and prophecies book has me worked up”. She tried to calm herself as they walked into the packed town hall. She wiggled to the front of the crowd, as dusk went backstage to wait for his mother to appear”

The curtain opened only to show Dusk dressed in his royal attire, he looked beside himself to see that his mother had not appeared. Instead next to him was a pony of similar size to her. She smiled evilly, and proceeded to tell everypony that she would be taking over as the new ruler of Equestria. Causing dusk to turn toward her his eyes glowing red. “What!” he shouted startling everypony in the room including Nightmare Moon. She stepped back without dropping her smile. “Where is my mother” he asked clenching his teeth.

“I don’t know who your mother is little pony” She said stepping away from the enraged colt, who had begun to pull his arm back, she flew backward to avoiding his oncoming punch.

“My mother is Celestia, come back here so I can beat you” he said as he shot a blast of magic at the dark alicorn who avoided the blow and flew away in a plume of purple smoke. Dusk attempted to chase after her only to be stopped by Twilight. Together, they walk to the library in search of a book on the elements of harmony, being followed by Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, and Rarity.

Pinkie Pie quickly found the book. Twilight reading from the book announced that the Elements of Harmony are located in the palace of the ancient pony sisters in the Everfree Forest.

As they stand at the edge of the Everfree, Dusk and Twilight are told by the other ponies that they aren’t going after the elements alone.  The 7 of them walked into the forest together.

Shortly after reaching the Castle, they were surprised to see that the Elements of Harmony were just stones. Dusk picked up two and placed them on the ground with the others. He and Twilight began to pour their magic into the stones until Nightmare Moon appeared and teleported away with them. Dusk jumping into the cloud of magic before disappearing.

The girls began to panic as they realized that Twilight was also missing, but then ran towards a flash of light that they saw from another tower.

Dusk and Twilight looked around until spotting Nightmare, and began to charge at her. She in return began to charge at them. As they neared closer to each other, Twilight used her magic to teleport to the other side of the room, as Dusk punched her in the face distracting her. She quickly regained her concentration and teleported to the other side of the room where Twilight was unsuccessfully attempting to activate the elements. Nightmare Moon shattered the elements as the other five ponies ran into the room.

The 6 girls together managed to power up the elements, and with Dusk holding her in place, focused the magic on Nightmare.  As the light vanished and they all stood up they noticed Dusk and a light blue alicorn. Celestia flies into the room as dusk picks himself up off the ground. She goes over to comfort her sister as the 6 ponies stare at him. “Why are you all staring at me?” he asks. “Your eyes have changed color Dusk” Twilight said, picking up a glass shard with her magic. Dusk looks at his reflection.

“Dusk” Celestia says as she walks over to her son “are you okay from being hit by the elements?”

“I’m OK mom, my eyes are just rainbow colored now” he said looking away from his reflection.

“This calls for a party” shouts Pinkie and as if by magic they are back in Ponyville.

“Spike, the pink pony just transported us back here, I think she’s an alicorn in disguise” Dusk said to the purple dragon causing him to laugh.

“Twilight, Dusk and Spike are you ready to return to Canterlot” Celestia asked looking down on them.

“Sorry, but I think we’ll stay here for a while Mom” Dusk said smiling along with Twilight and Spike.

Celestia nodded at her son with a smile. “Spike take a letter please, I princess Celestia hereby decree that Twilight Sparkle and my son Dusk Shine will live here in Ponyville as a way for them to learn about friendship”

Princess Celestia and Princess Luna return on their way home as the Ponies celebrate their victory. None of them knowing that something more than Dusk’s eyes had changed.
