"Mom, all of the chickens got a fever..." Cubby paused for a bit,
"I put them all down" His light tan coat waved in the small weary wind.
"All of them!?" Cubby's mom said looking obviously depressed, she sat down and covered her face with her hooves as her farm was slowly decaying into nothing.
"...It'll be fine..." She said standing up, she looked at the horizon, shedding a tear
"Don't worry" She said, Cubby put a hoof on his mom's shoulder, Just at the same moment, a pony whose coat was reddish purple coat was waving gentling in the tring winds.
"Good afternoon, Sis." the stallion said
"Uncle Duke!" Cubby said smiling
"Cubby, you've grown! What's for supper, sis?" the outlaw said
"You're not stepping foot in my house!" The mother yelled pointing a finger at his direction
"Would hundred bits change your mind? I need a place to hide" Duke said bluntly
"I'm not sheltering an OUTLAW! I suggest you get or I'll use that axe!" Cubby's mom pointed to the axe that was caved inside a tree stump.
"I thought after six years and some money problems, you'd be less of a NAG!"
"Cubby, If you wanna make some serious bits, I can always use an extra hoof in the next heist"
"Maybe I should... Mom... We need money-"
"-I forbid you from seeing your uncle!" Cubby mom yelled at him
"I'll be in Rock Springs 'till sunrise. If you join me tonight, I'll introduce you to the 'classy' mares" Duke left while his shotgun bounced on his back.
"Com'on Cubby, Lets get inside" The two ponies went inside their small house next to their farm. Having no noise come from the chicken cope was unnerving. The two eat dinner and went off to bed. After the moon setted and Cubby's mom was fast asleep, he packed up for the journey. He pick up his raggy rugsack and opened it. He put inside .44 magnum ammo, bagged food, extra clothing, a canteen filled with water and a picture of his mom. Cubby's put on his rugsack, He holstered his .44 magnum with his teeth and went out to Rock Springs.
Cubby got to Rock Springs but to find it to be completely deserted. He look around to be greeted by fresh mutilated corpses, they littered the road.
"What happened here?" Cubby inspected the area and took out his .44 magnum, he used the mouth grip piece to hold and aim.. He looked at the bodies of the ponies to see they were eaten alive. He sat down to inspect the body some more. The intestines were scattered around, the meat was torn off and ripped every part of the body, blood.... blood everywhere. Cubby took the opportunity to turn green and vomited on the corpse.
"Urghh there dinner right there, no damn respect right there Cubby" he said with remorse.
"CUBBY WATCH OUT!" Duke with his shotgun that was equipped to his shoulder and mouth, shot a round into a undead pony that was behind Cubby. The zombie's head exploded, throwing gore everywhere it can land.
"Duke! What's going on!" Just as Cubby said that, a bunch of moaning of gasping death was heard from a barricaded bar that fail to hold off the horde of zombies, rushed out to the location of the shotgun blast.
"I'll be straight with you, nephew! If you want to be in my gang, START BLASTING THESE CRAZY'S!" Duke and Cubby now guns in their mouths start shooting which seem to be around hundred zombies. Cubby bites the handle of the mouth piece to shoot lead into the undead flesh. It was unaffected
"CUBBY! YOU NEED TO SHOOT THEIR HEADS!" Duke yelled
"HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT?" Cubby said curious.
"JUST FOUND OUT RIGHT NOW!" He yelled, he shoot another round which took out three undead, Cubby shoots his iron, all bullets going in the head of his enemy's.
"Good job! You might have your father's talent for killing!"
"Huh? Dad didn't kill anyone"
"We have lots to talk about, Cubby" Duke goes back to shooting the horde, same with Cubby use used his hoof to reload his .44 magnum.
After five minutes the horde laid on the ground, biting the dust.
"Sadly, we can't celebrate properly. All the mares hightailed out of this town. Come on, lets get back to the hideout" Duke motion him to follow and Cubby responded by trotting next to him. The two stallions walked the dark night's sky. They were close to there destination.
*Note*
Around this time there are only earth ponies so no pegasus and unicorn.
Also Celestia and Luna aren't dead, They are immortal but are not in the storyline. They still raise day and night but no pony knows it.
We get to the part where Cubby and his mother are having money issues and how there farm is slowly decaying into nothing, Duke comes from the wind and ask to stay which he is denied. He give Cubby a job offering to be an outlaw, Cubby runs away from home to join the gang to bring back money.
Cubby and Duke are in a part of their camp alone, the other outlaws buried their dead and burned the zombies.
"Your father? Well, he had one hell of a reputation before he 'settled down'." Duke said. A zombie dog came out of no where and began to charge at them. Duke took out his shotgun and equipped it.
"His nickname was 'Sicssors' on account he'd cut up a person's face when he was done robbing them." Duke shot the dog, it whine and flew off the ground and fell with a heavy thud and stopped moving.
"You're joking, right? Dad would never do that. He never hit me when I was a filly"
"No joke. Plenty of stallions are still walkin' around with scars to prove it." A zombie follow the shotgun blast and began to stumble towards Cubby and Duke. Duke took aim when the zombie pony was engulfed by a fast amount of bullets, the body fell with many holes.
"If I had a bit for every time I saved your neck I'd-"
"-You'd only have two bits! This one don't count." He said. Wilcox noticed Cubby and gave him a odd face
"Why is this filly with us? This is a hideout, not some nursery." Wilcox said bluntly
"I'm no filly! I'm eighteen!" Cubby yelled
"Settle down, Cubby. This turd is Wilcox. He's my right hoof man." Duke said. Shooting is heard in the hideout with screaming and moaning. Zombie dogs and ponies now attack the outlaws once again. The approaching horde caught their eyes.
"I hope the brat knows how to use them irons. We've got company!" Wilcox said in a ghastly harsh voice
Cubby and Duke arrive at the hideout to see It being attack by a horde of zombies.
"El Duque! Help! Crazy ponies want to eat us!" a pony who coat was a grayish white was wearing a sombrero who was pointing a hoof at a fellow outlaw who was being ripped apart alive. The zombies pull out his intestines and began to feed on the pony who met his cruel fate.
"Cubby! that Mexican is one of my best stallion! We gotta save him!" Duke yelled as he shot a round into a zombie's head which blew up violently. As the outlaw who was getting eaten and screaming with agony, more zombies began to join the feast, two were limping towards the body.
"I'll take the two on the right!" Cubby shot the approaching zombies, the ponies drop hard with a thud. The Mexican threw a Molotov at the feasting zombies, they burn at a slow rate.
"We should go, El Duque!" the Mexican yelled, just as he said that, four zombies were behind him at a dangerous distance. Cubby quickly shoots all four down.
"Dios mio! The kid is fast!"
"Once Wilcox gets here, we're high tailing outta here! Stallions! Go attack them bastards!" Duke hollowed at his gang.
The outlaw began blasting lead into the infected. Cubby, Duke and the outlaws fight for their lives. Duke orders his men to attack the undead, throwing their lives to the monsters. Cubby saves an outlaw here and there but the causalities outweighed the living by a ton. Cubby didn't noticed this and thought it was just how thing rolled here. An zombie pony comes close to kill Duke when Cubby shoots it, making it bite the dust.
"Thanks cubby for saving my skin there"
"No problem, between you me. You must had saved my life a bunch of times"
"Ha! Maybe! Maybe not!" Duke laughed which Cubby took as a joke. Cubby finished the last zombie by stomping its head, crushing the skull and making bits of brain fly where it can.
"Good job Cubby, saving outlaws gains you their trust but don't relay on it. Don't trust anybody" Duke said
"Got it"
