Chapter 1... Eyes that form a laser.

Soundwave came out of power down with a shock. His body shook violently as pain chorused though his systems. He felt like his entire body was going to tear itself apart from him just simply moving, so he did the sensible thing and allowed his body to rest on the ground.

He ran a dianoetic check on all off his systems. His primary systems such as his motor system was still operational, his optics weren’t working robbing him off his sight. He did run a scan to make sure his surveillance drone Laserbeak was still unharmed, despite his outwards appearance he valued Laserbeak a lot and would go to extreme lengths to ensure that he was safe, luckily he was.

That bit off information did put some of Soundwave’s mind to rest with that confronting thought. However his scan did reveal that his audio systems was still intact and still functioning, so he decided to tune it so he could hear what was going on around him, and apparently nothing was, all he could hear was the sound of some wind blowing by, so he decided to switch it off and directed what little power it was using to fixing his body of whatever damaged it sustained. His scan was still going after checking all his vital parts and systems, it hadn’t come back with any errors apart from his visual.

After a while the scan did reveal something. A large object had been impaled into his left leg, right where the leg connected itself to his hip. It did explain why he was in pain, it must off been short circuiting his electrical system, that was properly why he was in pain.

So with great effect Soundwave moved his left hand towards where he suspected the object had impaled him, he felt it and tried to deduce what it was. It wasn’t anything relating to metal that he was sure off, the reason he knew this was because when he took hold off it, it merely crumbled in his grasp. He was still properly on the human home world.

But whatever the case was, he needed to remove the object. So he carefully moved his hand down so he could grab what remained off the object and with great care, pulled it from his leg. He felt it lifted from his wound and the moment it was clear he tossed it to his side. His systems said that repairs were under way, but he would need at least some metal wielding to the exposed wound to allow it to repair properly and to not cause any problems in the future.

So, Soundwave decided that firstly he would need to regain the ability to see. He ran a more thorough check on his optics to properly access the damaged done. It had appeared that his visor was completely shattered with only a few lose pieces hanging around the corners, he knew that he wouldn’t be seeing anytime soon and would have to find a new way in which to observe the world around him.

He laid on the ground trying to come up with a logical solution, if he managed to find Breakdown then he would be able to replace his broken visor, but his communications were down and he was unable to locate any of the other decepticons or autobots. It was a worrying thought considering that no damage had succumbed to his receiver, he suspected that the communication system on the warship was down due to the autobots medalling. So the idea the Breakdown would help him or any other decepticon was out of the question.

Then an idea came to him. His previous scans had revealed that no damage was done to Laserbeak, Soundwave might be able to hook their optics to one another and be able to use Laserbeak as his means of being able to see for the time being. He brought up all the numbers inside of his head and the equations to go along with it, he then activated Laserbeak and brought the commands up. After some time of calibrating everything Soundwave was finally able to see again, be that he was now seeing out of his chest was a slight problem , one that he would correct in no time.

He did actually hate having to use Laserbeak in this manner, sure Soundwave have sent him on missions alone before but that was only surveillance, and Soundwave always made sure that if anything did happen he would be able to defend his little mini-con.

Now that he could see again he noticed that he was staring straight upwards towards the blue sky that hung above him, white fluff balls of cloud dotted random parts off the generally clear sky. That all Soundwave needed to know, he was still on Earth. That meant that the space bridge properly didn’t collapse but rather performed what they were designed to do and merely teleported him to a different area. It was a cleaver idea that the humans had came up with, use his own method against him.

However how he got here mattered little to the decepticon, his main worries was returning back to the warship and helping to complete Megatron’s plan of restoring their home world. So Soundwave decided that the best course of action to take was to see if his legs could support his weight.

His body had made sure that movement would be possible without causing to much pain, but as he rolled over it still caused some. He had made it so his chest faced the grassy floor, but even this simple tasked caused electricity to shoot through his injury, he placed both hands on the floor and pushed off of them, he brought his legs below himself as he continued to rise from the ground. After some time he finally managed to stand on his own two legs.

He took note of his surroundings which appeared to be that of some hills, with the odd tree here and there. What was surprising was that Soundwave couldn’t detect any form of Wi-Fi communications, the humans were fascinated by it and ensured that their entire planet was covered with it by placing satellites in the Earth’s orbit, even the most remote locations had at least some signals that would pass over them. Yet when Soundwave performed a scan for any signals he couldn’t detect any, it was properly because of the damaged he had sustained, but even then he should’ve been able to at least pick up a ‘bars’ worth as the humans called it. But nothing was here.

Soundwave chose to ignore that fact for now and focus on what was important, getting back to the warship. The most logical solution was to transform and fly towards his destination, even if he couldn’t pick up any signals it was hard to miss a massive ship floating in the sky. He tried to transform into vehicle mode but found it incredible painful when he tried to do so, so that idea was out the window.

He knew he wouldn’t be able to do anything if he didn’t repair the damage done to him cause by the object, which did raise a good question as to what it actually was that impaled him. He looked around his immediate area only to find nothing, he only noticed a few splotches of energon that had leaked from his wound, but he found nothing that would’ve of been able to cause this much damage to his body.

He decided that it was not important now, he had more pressing matters to attend to, like how to at least perform a patchwork to allow him to transform just for a short while until he returned to the ship.

He was about to delve into the matter when something suddenly appeared on his radar, warnings went off saying that whatever it was, it was approaching fast. He noticed a nearby tree and sure it was not big enough to hide him completely due to his large size, but it was going to have to do for now. He made his way over to the tree despite the amount of pain he was in now, he was just like any other cybertronian in that he could feel pain, the trick was how to manage it. He shuffled around the tree so that whatever was approaching wouldn’t be able to see him. However the tree was a lot smaller that it appeared to be, and it did cause Soundwave to look like a fat guy trying to hide behind a pole.

However he was more worried about what was approaching him. Judging by the speed it was properly one of the humans fighter jets, but the problem with that idea was that the object was too small to be a jet, it was properly a unmanned drone as the humans called it. Whatever the case was he was about to get his answer as it was about to come into view.

Just as it did an idea struck him, if he could shoot the vehicle down, then maybe he could savage parts from the wreckage to patch himself up with. It was a long shoot but it was the best chance he had at returning to his master’s side.

Soundwave himself didn’t have any weapons on himself like other autobots, he tend to relay on his mastery in hand-to-hand combat and the use of his electrified tendrils to get the job done, however he did posse Laserbeak, a cleaver skill he created in which he would use Laserbeak’s primary weapon as his own, he could use it more effectively when he was in vehicle mode but he didn’t have access to that right now. He told Laserbeak to equip his primary weapon and be ready to fire on a moment’s notice, he felt Laserbeak transform to allow his weapon free range.

Soundwave’s radar indicated  that he sound be able to see it now with Laserbeak’s optics, however what he did saw made him questioned if he got the wiring mixed up.

It was as far as he could tell a rainbow, a moving rainbow. They didn’t have such things back on his home planet but such events did occurre here on Earth, however he couldn’t remember anything about one of them being able to move on its own. From the information he had acquired, a rainbow was simply light being refracted though water droplets that feel from the sky that the humans called ‘rain’. Yet that event wasn’t accruing, he couldn’t feel any raindrops at all, and all the information he did have suggested that rainbows couldn’t move like this one was doing. Perhaps this planet was still full of surprises after all.

He watched as the rainbow continued to fly over until it performed something unexpected, it turned.

Soundwave was sure now that this wasn’t any ordinary rainbow that the humans had, it was either that the humans didn’t know their own planet as well as they thought, or that the space bridge did more damage to him that he ordinary thought.

He ran another scan on his systems making sure he hadn’t missed anything, but more questions were made that answered when the system said everything was running fine, apart from his optics and the wound in his leg. He checked his energon reserves making sure that it wasn’t corrupting anything, yet all of it was perfect to.

Soundwave continued checking his own body as the rainbow performed some loops in the sky, it was baffling to say the least, until Laserbeak noticed something. Soundwave hadn’t completely taken over his pets eye, they were merely sharing them, and when Soundwave was busy Laserbeak had zoomed in on something inside of the rainbow at the front of it. It was blue and roughly the size of a human, with the new information Soundwave then suspected that the humans had constructed something new and were merely testing it out. It would of liked to analyse the humans new invention more, but it suddenly stop performing stunts and disappeared over the same green, grassy hill it had came from.

If the humans were testing something new out, then they properly had a base of some kind within the vicinity, and considering it was a new kind of flying vehicle it was properly a airbase of sorts. If that was the case then the decepticon might be able to return back to the warship sooner than he had anticipated.

With his goal in mind, Soundwave stomped towards the hill where the rainbow disappeared off to.
