The Element of Kindness

Well, I finally made it to language arts, I had to get extra homework for it though. The bell rung and I made it out of the class room. I looked around the hall and saw Diane coming out of her math class with her head down. I ran to her.

"Hey, Diane! How's it going?" I asked. I couldn't see her face. She didn't look up. "Hey, is everything ok?" I asked. She looked up to me in tears. She looked completely heart broken.

"I-I failed another test." She said stuttering. "I-It was way too hard for me a-and I couldn't figure out any of the answer. I never listened i-in sixth grade and the test was based off of what they learned there. I was wrong to not listen in class. How could I be so stupid!"

"Hey, Diane!" I pulled her at the side of the hall and crouched to her eye level. "You are not stupid! Just because you didn't listen last year doesn't mean your not smart. You are a very smart girl! If anyone thinks less of you, don't listen to them because you are the smartest friend I know." She wiped a tear off her eye.

"Thanks, Jess. That meant a lot to me." She hugged me. "Bye, Jessica." I stood there for a moment and watched her run to her next class.

I turned around and started walking. I was almost to my next class until I heard something behind me. I couldn't really make out the sound. More like metal or something. No, it sounded lighter then metal. Plastic? Crystal? I searched the floor. I couldn't see anything. I just decided to ignore it. I turned around and as I did, something in front of me glared. I walked towards it and squinted, trying to see what it was. I crouched down and picked it up. I examined it on my way to my next class. It looked like a shard. It was a pink butterfly. It looked very fimiliar. It wasn't plastic, and it looked rare. Was it a charm to a bracelet? I stuffed it in the pocket of my backpack. I headed to math, my last period of the day.

I made it home and walked in through the door.

"Mom! I'm home!" I dragged my backpack upstairs and lifted the heavy backpack onto my desk. I opened the zipper and pulled out a folder with my homework including the extra homework I had to do. I sat down at the desk with a pencil and started it. By the time I was done with my language arts homework, I unzipped my backpack and pulled out my math homework. As I pulled it out, it saw the pink butterfly shard. I set the homework on my desk and examined it. What was it? Where did it come from? It looked exactly like, like, Fluttershy's element of harmony? Boy, I watch that show way too much! It could be anything. There's plenty of charms and keychains at school that would look like this. I found a small box in my desk. I placed the butterfly in there for safe keeping.
