The Four Horses of the Apocalypse
Chapter 1 - The Horse With No Name
Load Full StoryNext ChapterThe Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, monstrosities sent from Hell to bring forth the end of times, were given a task by their master.
A forgotten language was heard through the fiery halls of Hell,
"I have a task for you four"
A demon the size of a mountain, wearing red and black armor with a burning halo floating above his head was sitting on a throne of skulls comprised of different species.
"There is a world two galaxies over that has reached its expiration date and needs to be dealt with."
The horsemen were standing idly in formation,
"I have made the portal, but your horses will go first because there is a small problem which I have not seen since that idiotic cube world.Your horses will have to go through and destroy the barrier that will stop you the way it did the last time."
While their master was talking, War decided to test that theory. He mounted his horse, grunted his displeasure and tried to pass through the portal with his horse, only to be thrown back spine first, crashing destructively into the other three horsemen.
War became angry and produced a broad sword, running towards the portal hoping to destroy it for launching him, but Death gripped his shoulder, stopping him. Death looked exactly as any mortal thought he looked, black robes and a scythe, nothing more. War looked just like his Demon master, but had large bull horns instead of a halo. He was the strongest among them. Famine and Pestilence got up soon after. Famine was the thinnest and smallest but because of this he was the fastest, wearing a light suit of yellow and green armor. Pestilence wore a medium suit of white armor. She was the only female amongst them but she was glad she had the honor to be the first to bring forth the apocalypse!
Pestilence was always the first to go forth. She spread incurable diseases with her vials, making mortals desperate for a cure, War produced battles, fooling the mortals into attacking each other for the cure that never existed, Famine would use his bow to poison farmer's crops and basic foods, and when the weak died, Death would appear and collect the survivors and souls for torturing, for sinning, or for their master's meal.
Death looked towards Famine,
"Famine get the horses ready."
Famine did as he was told and gave the horses their orders. Famine was able to communicate with animals, persuading them to trample on the farm fields.
"Alright Death, they're ready."
The horses were all lined up, ready to walk through the portal,"Send them through, and stop the last one we'll give them our weapons. The last time they were sent through the portal without weapons a mortal was riding them around destroying the undead. I gave a glass eye to a poor fool of a mortal making the dead rise, I think he ate it."
When the order was received the horses began to walk. War's horse stopped.
"Alright, Load them up!"
His horse was the strongest so caring heavy weapons wielded by immortals was up to him.
After the weapons had been loaded, War's horse walked through the portal, but half way between worlds an unimaginable pain went through the black horse. Every bone in his body was breaking simultaneously, reshaping itself in smaller versions. The pain was unbearable making the horse blackout.
Famine's Horse
A sickly green pony woke up in a hospital bed. He was deathly thin and looked too weak to do anything.
'Where am I?' He thought.
As he was thinking, a brownish-gold pony came into the thin pony's room,
"Well somepony's up. Hello, I'm Dr. Stable."
The other green pony stayed quiet.
"Our local farmer found you unconscious in her apple fields,so she had her brother haul you here."
The doctor opened the blinds to the window, revealing a colorful town and a small sign in front of the building they were in.
"Welcome to Ponyville, you are currently in one of many hospitals run by the Heart family. Doctor- I mean Nurse Redheart runs this hospital, and your likely to meet her sisters around this country."
Dr. Stable took a breath,"Man that was a lot to say."
The pony still remained silent.
"Right, well you'll have to stay her for a long time. You haven't eaten in what looks like years, so you'll be to weak to move. I'll get a nurse to send you a meal." The doctor turned around and left,"Nurse Patches can you get a meal for the patient in room 2-B?"
After a few minutes a butter yellow mare with a cyan mane came in the room with a tray containing an apple, a salad, and a bottle of water.
"The doctor said you needed this meal, but I started thinking. many other patients and doctors are hungry too, and by your appearance I'd have to say you won't last a day. So I hope you don't mind, but I'll be eating your food."
"Give me the food." The green pony said with venom, but the nurse didn't care.
"Or what? You're too weak to move because of your state, so you won't be needing this."
Nurse Patches was known to be disrespectful and cruel to the patients, but the other doctors didn't know and if a patient was planning on saying something, they would end up dead before the could. Nopony knows how the patients pass, one day they're healthy and the next they die, as if they had a heart attack. Nurse Patches was right, he was weak but by tomorrow, he believed he'd be back to full strength.
The nurse got up and looked at the clipboard at the end of the bed,
"And if you die nopony would care much, after all, you don't seem to have a name." She said walking out of the room.
The pony was left to stare at the door, then he said to himself,
"A name huh? I think I'll go by my master's name..."
"...Famine"
Death's Horse, Pestilence's Horse
A white, decaying pony awakened to find herself in a cemetery on top of a hill. It was foggy and it smelled of salt as if someone had been crying for years. As she looked around she found an open grave and in that grave was a skeleton of a pony, but the bones looked thicker and charred black as it they were burned but didn't turn to ash. She looked closer and immediately the skeleton was brought to life, it jumped in the air and landed outside the grave. It too began to look around but stopped when it spotted the white pony. If flesh wasn't falling off her, she would have looked stunning.
"Where are we? Are we not suppose to be at the other side of the portal and if so how, did I get in that grave?" the skeleton asked. The voice was obviously male.
"I don't know," replied the white pony,"I remember us walking through the portal, then an unbearable pain, and finally blackness."
The skeleton looked around to find a town in the distance,"we can go there and see if we can find the others."
The white pony thought for a bit,"I suppose we'll have to, but what about our appearance we might startle the mortals living there."
The skeleton looked back at her,"So? They're planet will be destroyed when we get the barrier down."
The white pony thought about it again,"I guess that makes scenes, alright lead the way." The white pony smiled but the decaying took a bit of her face so one half was smiling and the other half gave a 'dead' expression.
After the long walk they reached the edge of town, a big sign was place on the side reading "Welcome to Ponyville Population 423".
They exchanged looks,"What kind of a name is Ponyville?" asked the skeleton.
"At least it wasn't named extremely long like the last planet." replied the zombie pony."Besides with a innocent name like that, they are just begging to have their planet destroyed."
The charred skeleton looked past the sign,"Come on, we have to find the object that's creating the barrier."
As they walked they noticed other Ponies of different colors: pink, purple, yellow, green, and more as if all the innocence of the worlds their masters destroyed began living here now.
"Monsters!" A random pony screamed and within five seconds every resident was panicking.
"These mortals won't stand a chance." said the white pony.
The two undead ponies began walking around the town, scaring the residents into hiding, and looking for the magic object that summons the barrier. But up in the skies a cyan pony with wings stalked the two until they came to a stop at Town Square.
"Don't look know but there's a mortal stalking us, be prepared." The skeleton whispered.
"Alright you monsters, you're going back to the graves your bone bags crawled out of!"
The cyan pony dropped from the sky and intended to land on the skeleton's skull but the bony creature moved just in time to dodge it.
"What the-?"
The cyan pony was confuse but before she could finish the sentence the skeleton turned around and bucked her in the stomach,
"Oh It's on now... Do monsters even have names?" the cyan pony said before rushing him.
The white pony standing in the sidelines spoke,"You can call me Pestilence."
Then the skeleton spoke mid-combat,"And I Death."
The flying pony was confused,'How are they talking? They're dead!'
War's Horse
A dark red pony awakened to find he was in a small house resting on a smaller couch,
" O-oh I see y-your awake." a small voice was heard, the red pony looked around and spotted a yellow pony with a pink mane hiding behind the door leading to what looked like a kitchen.
"What happened? Where am I?" his voice deep and booming, but he remembered something,
" And where are the weapons I was carrying?"
The small pony shrank in fright,"y-y-your w-weapons are right th-there." she pointed to a wall, the weapons were indeed rested on it,"You are in my house, on the outskirts of Ponyville-"
The red pony interrupted,"Ponyville? Could be worse, the was a town with a really long name, go on."
The yellow pony liked to hear that he was an adventurer and calmed down a bit,
"I found you out side the forest, you looked in a lot of pain so I brought you here."
The red pony began to think,"May I ask what your name is? Mine is Fluttershy."
The pony looked up and back down into his thoughts,"I don't have a name."
Fluttershy gasped,"How can you not have a name?"
The red stallion stopped what he was doing and looked up, knowing he won't be able to think with all these questions,"I was never given a name."
Fluttershy came out of hiding," Would you like to pick out a name?"
The stallion was slightly surprised,"You can do that? I never knew you can make your own name."
Fluttershy got closer and sat down in a chair next to him,"Oh yes, you can do that what should your name be?"
The pony thought about it,
"Call me...War."
